You don't need wide track to have either clams or cycle wings. Wide track is a relatively new (like 15 years) option to improve the stance of the car and supposedly handling. While it was used primarily for cycle wings, Yellowss7 found out that it will also work for clams. However, switching from clams to cycle wings brings the visual disadvantage that you have a prominent angled row of holes along the sides of your car where clams used to be. And there is no easy way to hide them that I have seen. Having seen the end result of such a change I would stick to clams.

For the record I will just note that I have not noticed any twitchiness up to 135mph in my Caterham which has wings.... :driving:

I see you have not changed since you were younger? There is always next year when you can reassert your testicular fortitude! We will miss you this year!

Not really - both look pretty average and both are painfully slow. The Corolla is probably built better though! :smash: I would have preferred to lust over Sally Fields instead of the Corolla. Some people aspire to more than mediocrity! :seeya: Now here is a seven ad that is jaw dropping! You know, I get quite worried when a Stalker owner has intimate knowledge of an early 1980s era Toyota engine. Makes me wonder what other dirty and kinky things are running through his mind..... :leaving: -

TurboWood - I had thought about your idea but there is so much incomplete information such as correct specs, final sales price, etc. So I gave up on things. I do find this thread gives a directional trend and a sense of an appropriate range of prices for specific cars. So it serves its purpose. So today I found the most expensive Caterham in the USA currently for sale. I thought it would be at Caterham USA given the high prices they chase but no I found it elsewhere. 2014 model. Asking $105,000 No surprise that despite asking that much there is no detail in the ad....sigh! http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/other/1423669941/1423669941ss.htm The Locost in SC with the Yamaha Rq engine is still on Ebay at $8500 buy it now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-Roadster-Locost-7-Lotus-7-Replica-with-Yamaha-R1-power-/191507646091?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c96bec68b&item=191507646091&pt=US_Cars_Trucks Another ad with more photos is here: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/4880421679.html 2005 Stalker in British Racing Green in VA - repeat from last week. $17500 buy it now. Bids at $10k currently http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-Bruntun-Super-Stalker-Classic-1959-lotus-super-seven-v-6-sc-/251837744487?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3aa2b30567&item=251837744487&pt=US_Cars_Trucks I know it is not a car but does anyone need windscreen supports? Starting bid at $50. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-replica-windshield-supports-/191508945270?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c96d29976&vxp=mtr No Westfields for sale on Ebay today. There are Westfield branded tools which confused me as I thought that was supposed to be the driver? Likewise no Birkins but given the time I started searching this morning all I saw was handbags at dawn! :jester: 2001 Superlight R with a 21hp Zetec. Been on this thread many times as the owner holds out for his asking price for a very strongly spec'ed car. Asking $48500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4888265302.html 2001 Caterham Zetec in a distinctive scheme of white with red stripe. Asking $38500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4888283684.html 2013 Caterham CSR. I was hoping to see this sold by now given some offline discussions with a forum member but alas! Asking $76500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4888265467.html 1984 Caterham, red, RHD. Been for sale for seemingly years. Asking $24,500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4888265147.html And a new Locost enters the thread from Greenville, SC. Not much detail in the ad but he will trade for a Porsche 968 or 911. Given the lack of detail on his seven I think he may be optimistic at an asking price of $12750. Help me identify what I am looking at in this engine bay? The engine is a mystery to me along with the strange intake construction? http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/4889082641.html Hawaii Miata Birkin at $19000 repeats http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/4831652080.html Bruton Auto has their Stalker ad running: http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/cto/4865859362.html Dealer ad for a crossflow Westfield found last week. I think this sinister thinking is just too much. You missed out on a great opportunity to have a menage a trois with the couple (i hope I don't have to translate that to Montanese?). They were trawling for talent. Obviously you were a monumental catch as everyone knows that penis size is inversely proportional to the size of their car/engine size (unlike brain?). The lady was slathering over that possibility - the sun, moon, tides and nipples were clearly in alignment that day. Their playbook was: you get mesmerized by her dual headlights on full illumination, you are completely poleaxed by her dual fuel tanks moving in to allow you to perform a full mechanical inspection - Roadkill is in her sights on this country road. cross-eyed from the proximity to her magnificent...ummm...double airbags which were primed to go off in this crash scenario you 'rise to the occasion' by producing a magnificent spanner which is quickly noted by the couple as they gaze lovingly at your ...errr.....tool kit and after some "compliments" on the downforce produced by your aerodynamic appendage a suggestion of a sporty drive emerges, whereupon a quick jaunt back to the motel with the girl arrayed in your seven (no overheating by the Lambo on that trip I bet and it was lucky you had leather seats - her crossflow leaks wipe right off), followed by you and the girl opening procedings while the gentleman leans back to watch the action which lights up his 'stogie.' The GoPro was probably already installed and fully charged to get some "on-track" action as Sir shows how to drive his seven. It could have been Fifty Shades of White (Lambo). I think I will write the screenplay and make lots of money. There was no chance that they would have picked up a Porsche driver - everyone knows women prefer a hard driving seven to a flat six! ETA - apologies in advance for those of sensitive dispositions, inferiority complexes, V8 drivers and Porsche posers...:jester: ETA2 - Actually, why don't I apologize to the entire forum now since I probably have offended everyone! -

The problem with that Lotus 23 is that it is a bit like Grandpa's axe - everything has been replaced progressively over time so at what point is it not deserving of original status. Lovely car, don't get me wrong, but I question the historical premium built into the price. -
Just to echo Mike's comments above - thank you to Mazda for being a great guy and taking car of the administration. We will all buy you a beer if we see you at the sevens event in July!

What was the result with Phil? Did he see his shadow? I have been traveling all week in the UK and missed the end story. FleaBay has one car - the British Racing Green Stalker. Current bid $13600 with a BIN of $19500 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-Bruntun-Super-Stalker-Classic-1959-lotus-super-seven-v-6-sc-/251816244557?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3aa16af54d&item=251816244557&pt=US_Cars_Trucks Anyone looking for a racing seat for our cars - I think it could be a fiberglass Tillet? No bids starting at $200 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Racing-Seat-Lotus-Super-7-and-Caterham-/251821466747?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item3aa1baa47b&vxp=mtr The Honolulu Birkin with Miata drivetrain at $19000 is still available http://images.craigslist.org/00j0j_izlsXVwjF9N_600x450.jpg http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/4831652080.html Yamaha R1 powered Locost is still around at $8000 http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/4874375283.html And new this week for those who live in the northern half of the United States or even our Canadian cousins, a high powered snow plow! At least that is how I would suggest you justify it to your wife! http://images.craigslist.org/00V0V_d8v1QfxCUnn_600x450.jpg Yes Brunton Auto is doing a little advertising! http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/cto/4865859362.html There is a bunch of stuff still available for the previous listings so I am not repeating that. But in Washington Missouri there is a BRG Westfield with tan pleather (no not a misspell) interior. Crossflow. I think this is the CT car spotted a while back in this thread being sold in the low $20k's area. Well now it is at a dealer asking $31995. http://classiccars.com/listings/view/631866/1965-lotus-super-seven-for-sale-in-washington-missouri-63090 Ragtops and Roadsters has a "1969 Birkin" http://www.ragtops.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=5438 Asking $23500 Winter has definitely frozen up the offerings out there! :seeya: -

See if I tried that I would make a real boob of myself! :jester:

As a guide - price would be $350-375pp for this. Before anyone complains about how much I will point out that you get open track time from 9-12.30 with only 5 other cars on track max. So it is a pretty exclusive private track experience.

There was a level of tongue in cheek about my original comment that some people have noticed and completely missed my subtle humor . So to repeat, what I did in my late teens/20s, I would not repeat today. Just as I would be wary of running Palmer in a seven until I see its safety aspects for course design and run off. And yes I set the metal detectors off at airports quite frequently.... -
Have you seen the accident rate on the PCA days? It is worryingly high. There are many theories for this - I believe it comes down to the intelligence of the owners. :seeya: And for bike days - Millville Hospital sends a person down to sign them all up as donors. The only bit of the body they don't take for donation is the brain....

Actually I was on a flight to London that was turned back halfway there because of smoke in the cabin. Three hours back, another 5 hour wait and I got the next United Scarelines flight back to London for a door to door trip time of 25 hours. Now sitting in London feeling all discombobulated. Fleabay has a BRG Stalker. It was up for sale for a while last year - guess it did not sell? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-Bruntun-Super-Stalker-R-1959-lotus-super-seven-v-6-sc-/251815668987?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3aa1622cfb&item=251815668987&pt=US_Cars_Trucks 2000 Zetec at $33k at a San Francisco dealer. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/ctd/4868971176.html 1964 Lotus Seven. This is the one that would not link last week, asking $60k. The dealer has a range of financing and leasing options! Leasing a Lotus Seven - LOL! http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/ctd/4868805496.html Miata Birkin in Honolulu back again $19k http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/4831652080.html AstroBob's M Spec Stalker at the bargain of the year (so far) $30k http://tallahassee.craigslist.org/cto/4832227021.html A 1962 Stalker $28000 http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4866963632.html Ok....thats enough for now. Hi Jim - Hope you are doing well? Sadly Thunderbolt is not on the cards as it is not available for any weekend. I really did try as I never really ran it last year myself! It was booked solid by Porker Club of America Track Crash Days or any number of bike track riding clubs. It gets difficult to get weekends at Thunderbolt as most groups prefer it, particularly bike groups.
