Right temp. perfect sunset. Absolutely great food by Chef Murray. A fitting end to a great day. Here is Dave and the track photographer Mike (he does our group pic) standing with me on the river edge watching the sunset. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/5B0774B1-5722-4778-BCAA-27AEAF5A95C9_zpskapj1o0z.jpg Some sunset pics http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/48531B74-F71A-4351-BBD9-729B6FA4ADAF_zpsx9zvi93j.jpg

TomC and Dermot checking out Tom's company demonstrator model. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/060823F2-9D8C-4339-96AC-69E23043E492_zpswlptnsuj.jpg Dan's new to him, Westfield Miata http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/4F5B5F22-5294-455E-A9D7-B4E0A4D74805_zpssqbctd6s.jpg Kitcat's Caterham http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/173C5825-4AC2-44A8-A200-7D4033929CB0_zpscuiklbph.jpg Todd's S3 that he vintages races. He was fastest driver of the day. Absolutely blitzing everyone - even Seb with his 60hp advantage. The two had great fun playing tag around the track. Seb was eagerly learning the techniques so that he can keep ahead of Simon (his usual track tag buddy) who could not make it. Lunch was at the condo garages with 3 units open for checking out - mine, Jerry's and the for sale unit where the buffet line was set up. Since everyone got photos of mine that will turn up on here, I will say that Jerry's had the more expensive fitout by a huge number. That wall is entirely a mural - a 50 foot by 20 foot mural on that wall. All the other sides were also using the same vintage brick mural wallpaper. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/4E9F7B2C-84D7-4CF5-B163-4E07857FF6CB_zpsrom1djam.jpg

So we survived Saturday. Weather was perfect - sunny, not a cloud in the sky. Track was perfect - washed clean, grippy. What could possibly go wrong? Well....it certainly tested a LOT of cars. The mechanical roll call: - A fair amount of carburetor tuning took place - Fred lost a cycle wing on the back straight - Paul has cracked two steering rods - Steve probably punctured a left front tire - no hiss but it won't hold the air. - Jim had coolant burping issues and quite possibly has a small head gasket issue evidenced by soot in the overflow container. - Then there was Jeff - first lap of the first session the brakes head to the floor. Turns out it the front hubs had cracked and destroyed the bearings under it and lost a spacer in the process. So Terry who fitted out my garage took off to track down a 1966 Spitfire hub in Millville. But that failed so he then took Tom's garage door remote and went for a 3 hour drive to pick up some spares in Tom's garage. Jeff was back on track for the last session of the day! There were probably other sagas going on that I missed but hey, that was half the fun! Here is a grab bag of photos taken on my phone to give you and idea. MichaelD's and Norm's aero Caterham. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/16A4F928-5104-45ED-9F9C-8B6A2C6145E2_zpspliebk9u.jpg Fred posing in front of Scott working on his Caterham http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/5B6910AE-D058-49C3-BC75-438E3EE7FCB9_zpsq7r4xicu.jpg Fred's Honda Blade engined Locost http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/B0D5F8EF-DCD1-41E7-9229-473F2129779F_zpsand96xfj.jpg Roman's Ultralite http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/DE2B297C-436D-40BD-BE86-92424402BE28_zpsde911zb0.jpg

So how is the fun in Noo Joisey? Well we missed out on karting. Quite a few of us got quite wet. Everything started off great. The beers in the pits were being opened. People were arriving. So far so good. Then some rain arrived with a bit of thunder. So we locked the cars down and headed for the bar as no karting was ever going to happen in that weather. But then the weather turned real nasty. Biblical rain, high winds, thunder and lightning. Flooding in Millville. Seb was putting his car in the garage and both of us were quite alarmed at the clouds roiling around above us. So much so we contemplated our options for taking cover. The 20x20 tent outside the garage for Saturday's lunch was partially airborne and would have been if it were not for the fence it was attached to. But everything settled down for dinner. The drinks flowed. The jokes and laughter started. The fun began. And we will just have to find another time for the karting to take place. Last night I slept with six sevens. I think I pickup 2 more cars to store Saturday night. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/509C7587-F56D-4862-9F61-843067ACDC14_zpstiocck24.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/3972A3EB-FFAF-48CC-A019-2F1DCFAB6F9F_zps8lfaqxgm.jpg One thing I learned last night - do not open an 18 foot high garage door with bright lights on for Roman to change wheels over. One, you get attacked by all the frogs looking to mate after the rain and two, every frigging insect comes calling to buzz the lights. It took me forever to kill enough bugs to get a quiet sleep.
-
It was pretty quiet here last night apart from the guy mowing the track infield at 11.30pm! :ack: My cleaning bitches have been hard at work since 5am (no not me! my Roomba vacuums) making sure the garage mahal is clean for Saturday lunch and its prospective overnight residents. I will wash 2 cars shortly and jinx everyone for rain! If anyone arrives early I will be at the garage - past the villas on the way to Thunderbolt circuit.
-
Seb - you did register for karting. It starts at 3pm Friday so try to be there a little before. You did not register for Sunday driving but its not a problem to accommodate that. The only catch is no cash is accepted for a drive as they insist on payment through credit card, i.e. motorsportreg.com.
-
Its ok Roman. Dermot found a place at the Quality inn. Thanks for taking the initiative though!
-
I am probably down to only 2 more spaces free for storing sevens overnight. Another car not expected in for a week will be arriving this week.... Seb - The track wants you to sign up on motorsportreg.com if at all possible since it makes the payment process simpler for them. At least give Carolyn the heads up on Friday at karting when you check in with her. She can advise how to handle at that late stage.

Sorry the pithy remarks have fallen off for lack of time. I get up at 4 and hit bed at midnight 7 days a week - there is not much free time these days. Dont expect much this coming weekend either as I am working on the sevens event in Millville, NJ. Come along Panamericano - we would love to see another forum member in person! -
Dan - Just try for video. Its HPDE and not a lap timing day and live timing is not allowed by NJMP. If you do want to look at loggers then maybe try AIM Solo DL. Works espcially well for cars with active OBDII. Updated garage roll call: 1 CSR 2 Maroon 3 Yellow cheese head 4 Dan's Westfield 5 Roman 6 Seb 7 Paul
-
LOL...how to respond to this. Seb - I will break it gently but I am not married to Tom. He wears socks to bed so no way. :ack: Its soon unromantic! But you can store your car in my garage overnight. Which night? Fri and Sat? You are only driving Sat correct? Doing a roll call for the garage: CSR Maroon Yellow cheese head Dan's Westfield Roman Seb So I have room for another 3, possibly 4 sevens.

Be gentle...my hangover is formidable today...

And for some people, put their engines and transmissions back in so that your cars will be running for the event! Its amazing how 3 people a week out from this event are in the midst of sorting clutches out! :willy_nilly: I will be at the track from Thursday night on. So if you arrive early I will be at the garage (building near the villas) doing a little washing and cleaning - cars and garage. Saturday lunch is now a BBQ at my garage and at Jerry's, my garage neighbor. Remember 3pm on Friday is for karting. Bring your helmet! NJMP will provide driving suit and neck collar. :driving: Trophies are on offer.

Dermot, The site is working for me now. Let me know if you still have problems and if you do I will add you on my registration and pay on my credit card and you can give me the cash Saturday.

Stop perving on the other cars for sale Dan. Starting driving your Westfield and consider the many things you would like to spend upgrading. I think Flying Miata could help you out with a catalog. Have you seen their Westfield Turbo kit? -
You should take flying lessons from Suave! He always sticks the landing! :blueangel:

Its fair criticism. You can buy a chassis from Arch by saying it is a "replacement". I know of a Caterham which had a chassis replacement and got its original VIN listed on the replacement chassis. The original chassis still exists as a Caterham race car in the DC area. The chassis was sold off by an insurance company to recover their losses. While it was reported to Caterham USA by the owner you still have two chassis running around with identical VINs. Who says the next owner will not register the original chassis race car as a road car? I am sure there are a few "faked" original Lotus 7s around as it is so easy to buy a 'replacement' chassis. At least the BAT car does not try to pass itself off as original. Kudos to Ian7 on this forum for asking a few pertinent questions on the BAT seven! -

They definitely have records in a less than perfect sorted fashion. The LowFlying Magazine of the L7 Club of UK featured a story on the club historian accessing these records and showing examples of details of correspondence, invoices, etc. from the 1970s. I would definitely reach out to Caterham and inquire. The worst they can say is no.

Hi Pana! Sorry was running late so did the super quick dump of the results. The Akron car is nice - I like the dog in the passenger seat! Yes - the denver craigslist I posted is the same as the one you have but with photo now. Its been on this thread quite a few times over the past year. BAT has now picked it up http://bringatrailer.com/2016/06/19/cosworth-bdr-power-1974-lotus-super-seven-s4/ I am sure Scannon or Bsimon know the car well if people were seriously interested.
