  1. Mike - you do know this is a different Fisher Fury with a different drive train? Dermot's Fisher Fury went to the big garage in the sky and is no longer. That said I would love to see pics of this finished project too! :cooldude:
  2. Call me stupid (and plenty of people do!) but how hard can it be to get a radiator and nose cone for a Birkin? Tom Carlin should have them in stock?
  3. Is that you in the video Skip? I don't recall your beard being that long?
  4. Hi Fmorser, Thank you for posting. Sorry to hear about the back injury. One of my colleagues had all of that work done and he is none the worse for wear after a long recovery time so the eventual outcome for you should hopefully be as good. Unlike some, I am not a brand snob so a Locost 7 is a 7 in my eyes. In June 2011 we had Ottocycle's Hayabusa Fisher Fury (sadly no more) which went very well (sensational sounding car at full wail!). So your car should fit right in. Bring your sense of humor and you will find we are a fun crowd to hang out with. Hopefully you can get yourself recovered enough and give your 7 a decent pre-event preparation so that it will be reliable and safe for you and I am sure you will have a lot of people intrigued to know more about your bike engined car. I can send a sign up link out to you if you email sevensarefun@gmail.com NJMP does like to check new drivers out via a track experience resume to make sure they are eligible for going out in a passing group but it looks like you have some track experience so that helps. Cheers mike
  5. I agree with you Taber - I just don't see the resemblance however, the ad did say....
  6. Thanks Mike but it is still some ways to go. No high bay lights yet, missing light fittings, no bathrooms, no kitchenette, no memorabilia on the walls, no lift, no heating, probably no cooling, 2 x 17 foot doors that don't work, no sofa bed or other furniture, hell...there not even a fridge for beer!
  7. A Locost that has been seen on this thread before but has now migrated to Ebay. Should go for less than $10k http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-track-car-/191552495521?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c996b1fa1&item=191552495521 This is not a seven but it does have Caterham connections being the brainchild of Jez Coates after he left Caterham. Very interesting to browse. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Zolfe-GTC-Prototype-004-/391095961200?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b0f22c670&item=391095961200 Xcarguy's new Blakely Bearcat is back.... http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/4943220162.html Not sure why a dealer in Oregon would advertise in South Florida but hey, I have had worse hangovers! Its the Arch chassis replica Series III back again at $32995 http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/ctd/4971569571.html Lotus 211 at $58991 I am surprised that the price did not add a few pennies to be more precise! http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/ctd/4973904294.html Now here is a new one. And it has clams! But it is being advertised in Portland Oregon. It maybe a Locost but the photos do seem to show a fairly fastidious fitout. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/4966530733.html OOOOOOOHHHH! I think I just had a personal moment. My favorite color of seven but on a Stalker. http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/cto/4971083174.html Standard Stalker craigslist ad: http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/cto/4970879603.html 2012 Caterham R400 with a high spec of equipment. Wish me luck!
  8. Really? From reading your posts on here I would have said you were using the right hand almost constantly. :spam:
  9. Personally I dont think that Ebay is a good medium for selling sevens. Highly marketable cars go well in the EBay format of a limited time auction. A seven needs extended time in the market to find the right buyer that is out there but may not be actively looking. IMHO a reasonable expectation for sale time frame is 1-3 months given the specialty nature of these cars unless you want to realistically deep discount for a super quick sale. You can not expect premium money and a quick sale together unless you are lucky. I have always thought that your best chance of sale is on this forum as a base given most buyers seem to migrate here eventually and then link with with an Ebay and/or Craigslist.
  10. I wish that were the case! But no I have been working on my garage project and proving that I manage a building project better than my general contractor who could not manage to get out of a wet paper bag. :bs: Move day needs to be April 18. :leaving: Anyway, if you were shopping for a seven you had all winter to make up your mind and buy one. How hard could it be! :seeya:
  11. Would you like a reliable Caterham to do laps in? Come on....you know you want to eat the forbidden fruit.....
  12. HIIIILLLLLLDA! You are needed in Arkansas. Someone who broke their back needs a ball busting!
  13. Damn that S1 shifts! Wow! Why were there not more of these put on track - a very accomplished track car. For the record Dave, where did you have the mic hiding? in the glovebox or under the seat or under the tonneau or somewhere else?
  14. Michael - have you fixed your email server issues? As I pointed out in my PM, your emails were always bouncing. Let me know if I need to update for a new email.
  15. and.... 4. It has more downforce than the storker by virtue of it weighing the same as USS Nimitz.
  16. Nice spot Bill! The problem is that it costs a bit more than his storker is worth right now since it has the intrinsic value of a 16 foot long boat anchor. So I was thinking this was probably more apt? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-240-Base-Sedan-4-Door-/141614420783?forcerrptr=true&hash=item20f8e0932f&item=141614420783 Fetching shade of silver. Stick shift. Air con blows anything but him. 2.3 4cyl which sounds close to my Cosworth Duratec in volumetric performance. Faster than my Caterham when its standing still and while thousands of little nylons were mercilessly killed in making that interior I rest easy knowing that Shane is well protected by lots of steel should he (and Jefferson) next try imitating being Bo and Luke Duke in a Dodgy Charger.:jester:
  17. Guess I was not being clear. I was responding to Blokko's idea of the prospective manufacturer/seller potentially selling road-ready and registration ready sevens into the market place (i.e. ready to drive rather than being a kit requiring work). In this instance, the manufacturer/seller needs to have it sorted so that he can make that happen in all states to maximize his potential sales. I know the buyer only needs to register in one state but the seller cannot make a living selling to just one state under this proposed business model.
  18. Hi Steve I think the concept is a great one...however, the problem with your idea is that you need EPA pre-approval for race cars before you can even start to ship. The rule is you need a manufacturer to certify a car as a race car and then seek pre-approval from the EPA. Assuming they grant it then the cars can come in. If no certification is possible then the car still needs pre approval but can only be imported for a fixed 3-5 year period. At the end it is crushed or exported. The problem when someone tried this before is that there was some fear that certifying a Caterham as a race car would immediately rule out road registration for all other Caterham cars under the low volume import kit car rules. Also some of those cars were previously registered/titled in the UK so that rules them out for race car import at any rate as that puts them into the road car rules. EPA pre-approval takes forever - I am still waiting for approval on one of my cars. Your immigration and move to the US was much quicker! I believe this is a critical part of the solution. People get put off by lack of ability to build a car and don't want to deal with the hassles of road registering in all states.
  19. As Panamericano kindly found above, the 1961 Lotus Seven race car for sale http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/lotus/super_seven/1727988.html Asking $33900 A lovely 1969 Lotus Seven in Canada for sale by a dealer. 20. The PA Zetec Superlight R is back on Ebay but the buy it now price has dropped from 47.5k to 43k which shows a smart seller who is tuning into the market of buyers available now. Each previous time list the bidding as stalled at around $36k. Beautifully optioned car that looks in top condition. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-R-/181701268889?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a4e3d5599&item=181701268889 2009 kit Built 2011 Brunton Stalker http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Brunton-Super-Stalker-/271813796275?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3f495d61b3&item=271813796275 Starting bid $20k with no bids right now. Another Brunton Stalker for sale in AZ http://www.sugargrovecars.com/ForSale.html Back again 1969 Arch chassis replica seven. Here is a Stalker http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/lotus/7/1726421.html Asking $28k San Francisco Sports cars has this fairly lowly spec'ed Caterham Zetec - been for sale for quite a few months http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/caterham/1678738.html Asking $32995
  21. Jeff - we could temporarily store your car in Millville, either at TJ's or at my place and then you come back do the event and afterwards, car gets shipped to you. Simple!
  22. For those who look at the event registration page on motorsportreg, my advice is don't! That page never shows everyone who is registered - it just shows a few people. NJMP and I reported the issue to the website last year and the response we got back was "yes, so what!" There are 4 ways to confirm you are registered: 1) Did you get a registration email from the website? 2) Log on to motorsportreg.com with your ID and password. The very first page after log in will show events you are registered for and below that options for events that may be of interest to you but that you have not registered for. It should have an orange yellow box to the left of the event you registered for. Click the event dashboard and you can get to your registration details. 3) Try to register all over again - motorsportreg has a control to alert you when you try to do this. If by chance you do bypass the controls and register twice like Mike did last year....then no harm or penalty as you can cancel the duplicate registration following the instructions earlier in this thread or go for option 4 below. 4) If completely in doubt then contact Carolyn Watson. Carolyn's contact details are in the memo sent to you last Sunday. :seeya:
  23. Spoken like a true Stalker owner! If people realized that you dont always need bulk power to go fast in the corners then we may have a US-seven derivative. But we dont as the hobby market is heavily biased to drag racing where you do not need to go around corners. However, I think we are seeing the sunset era of replica/kit/hobby cars. Why would any sane business person you go into a market like that where you may only have at max a 10 year finite life on your business before it gets legislated out of existence in the US. It may even be quicker - look what happened to Ariel Atom in Texas.
  24. Should anyone manage to copy Mike and register on the wrong NJMP Drivers Club link then the process to cancel the wrong registration is: 1) Go into motorsportreg.com and log in 2) Go to the Dashboard tab and select it 3) You should see all events you registered for 4) Click the event that you wish to cancel 5) You then will see the title of the event, a colored box and a bunch of menu options 6) The very last menu option will be cancel registration - select and follow the instructions. There is no penalty for cancellation up to a week out from the event. Then go ahead and register using the correct link provided within your event details email sent to you last Sunday. Easy! :seeya:
