  3. Skip, Those parts (chassis included) are all replacement items. Aside from the apparent front end damage, my chassis was also tweaked from the leap I took at TWS; a post accident inspection revealed that the drive shaft was contacting RH inner tunnel frame rail. When all is said and done, I'll basically end up building a new car.

  5. Well, Scott Minehart delivered my chassis and ancillaries via toedrag's trailer being used as a delivery platform; Brit and I split the cost of delivery.

  15. It's only because I'm using my knuckles to 'push' my way down the straight that I can gain any speed at all!! And it was your idea that I use the mobility scooter as a training platform to start with! :bs: Thanks, Automoda! Suave's all smiles. You’ve reaffirmed his self-proclaimed coaching skills…..they’ll be no shutting him up know. :iamwithstupid: No . . . . But then again, I'm not really sure of anything. :ack: Paul, the cart has no cage......easier to life me off of the mobility scooter and right onto the cart. :jester:
  16. This evening, my back is paying for my ‘testing the waters’, but worth it. After 21 weeks in a back brace, and after not having driven anything ‘fun’ since February, the family and I went to Track 21 here in the Houston area; two indoor carting tracks and an 8,000 square, two story LASAR tag facility. Prompted by a little arm-twisting by Suave (and my kids’ desire to play multiple rounds of LASAR tag), I decided to see if my back, and my driving skills, were up to the challenge of a bit of track time. The first session out, I was almost a full second faster than the next fastest car in my run group. After the track marshal assured me that ALL the carts were equally competitive (and that he hadn’t put me in a faster ride), I went back out for round two and knocked two more tenths off my previous time…and was still the fastest in the pack. Looks like the mobility scooter training is paying dividends. :jester: Nothing to brag about here, but it sure felt good to drive something small, raw, crude and low to the ground. The better (far better) treat for me was seeing my 9-year old daughter and my 11-year old son on track ‘together’ for the first time in the junior carts. I’m growing older and they are growing up. Tom, BTW, Suave says to tell you, and I quote, “he’s no driving god! It’s only by my keen coaching and insight that he was even able to drive anything again…including the scooter.” :smilielol5: . . . . . . . :lurk:

Here are a couple of leads for the pulley (90mm): http://www.autozone.com/external-engine/idler-pulley/duralast-idler-pulley/634076/ http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dayco-no-slack-idler-pulley-89012/3911322-P I don't have the part numbers handy, but if I recall (been a few years), the alternator was a mini 70amp from NAPA (Geo Metro?); see photos below of my atlernator and pully that I took jsut after purchase. As for the belt/s, look at the photo below to see my belt routing. An easy way to determine what size/s you need is to trace the route across the pulleys with a string and then measure the lenth of string.

  24. Okay, as promised, I'm reporting back regarding using Whiffle balls as a possible baffle in your fuel tank. After soaking in gasoline for an excess of seven months, I took one of the Whiffle balls out today and compared it to another identical Whiffle ball that had not been soaking in petrol. I was quite surprised at what I discovered. The fuel-soaked Whiffle ball had grown approximately 1/16” in diameter beyond its original size. In addition, the ball was much softer than the non-soaked ball and had become somewhat brittle (see the squeeze test photos). My consensus; no Whiffle ball baffle recommendation from me or Suave. :cheers:
