Hello all, There have been some very valid (and very much appreciated) concerns by a few other Stalker owners / forum members regarding some of the front steering components on my car and as to whether or not these components were the cause of the accident at TWS. I want to take a moment and address this ‘topic of concern’ so we can take it off the table and all rest easy; at least, so I can rest easy...........more meds, please. :jester: When I repurchased my car back from Sharkey in 2012, it still had the original steering components installed (as designed and supplied by Brunton) which came on the earlier production cars. A change over to the newer steering components, as found on the later production cars (also Brunton-supplied), was one of the very first mods that I did to the car; and that particular ‘mod’ has performed flawlessly since then and was not, I am happy to report, the cause of the accident. :hurray: For peace of mind, here’s a link that shows the changes I made to my car’s front steering using those later model production-run parts: http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=20051 And.........A big thank you to all who contacted me regarding their concern and for also allowing me to address this issue here first-hand. Shane

Hey all, (X)carguy here; thanks to the collaborative tag-teaming of my wife and Croc, this is now the ‘new and improved’ spelling of my forum name. :cuss: Their shenanigans aside, thought I’d peck out a quick update while the pain is down and the meds are up. Still keeping the specifics of the mishap under wraps until I can visit with my insurance co…...but…..for your viewing pleasure, here are a couple of post-crash pics (courtesy of JR). When you view the photos, keep in mind that the left-front suspension assembly had broken down pre-crash and WAS the cause of the crash. I’ve also included a track map photo (corners labeled) and an additional track photo depicting where the mishap took place. As for me, it’s all about the thoracic vertebrae. I have a minor fracture in T2 (perhaps the initial cost of the Hans wasn’t that bad after all). There’s a nasty fracture in T10, a compression fracture in T11 and a burst fracture in T12. A consultation on Monday (tomorrow) with a ‘neurosurgeon of choice’ should result in decision regarding which direction I’ll be taking for recovery. Okay…......time for my beauty rest. Shane

Croc, xcarguy's wife here...thanks for the shout out & show of support. Having never met you personally, I can tell that we would get along brilliantly. We are on the same page-this is about the EXACT speed I had in mind for Xcarguy. (capital "X" intentional:rolleyes:):nopity:...although crocheting will be a nice start for a new hobby! -
Hey everyone, xcarguy here. Just checking in briefly, then headed for more rest. Once I have the opportunity to speak with my insurance company more directly (ball is rolling), I'll catch all up on what happened. As for me, we are awaiting another doctor's consultation this afternoon to determine what course of action to take for my injury. I also want to send out a big THANK YOU to JeffersonRaley for starting this post and for his kind comments. I'm extremely thankful thank JR escaped with some bumps, bruises and soreness, and another car story to share with others. To add to JR's words, the accident was unavoidable and the action we took on track was the lesser of all evils. Updates to come. Shane

Hey, guys, xcarguy here. First, let me give a HUGE SHOUTOUT to all of you for your kind words, prayers and thoughts. As you all know, Robin (super woman) has been acting as my spokes person for the last few days while I've been laid up. When I'm up to it, I'll bring everyone into the loop on what transpired (no red paint involved). As for me (in short) I've broken vertebra T10, T11 and T12 is in a somewhat complicated way and have experienced pain beyond description. Thanks to an air ambulance, I'm now in Little Rock, AR at Baptist Health hospital (relatively closer to home) and will most likely be here for a few more days. Again, thanks to everyone for their support . . . . . Updates to come. Shane

This is Shane's wife. Thank you all for your kind words, well wishes & especially your prayers. Shane is in a lot of pain right now & has been since the accident, but smiles when I read your comments to him. I'm sure when he's feeling better he'll want to fill you all in with all the details. Per his request, I must ask, "Croc, does this qualify him for the lifetime John Deer award??"

Okay, Mike, I'm sitting in College Station, TX. Getting ready to burn up some track time at TWS. But first, I need my morning read. Don't miss the new Storker (chassis #154) listing in Craigslist. Coffee's hot.......come on! -

Rich, Depending on your budget, you might give C & R Racing a call. They build custom radiators; built mine for my Stalker in 2007 and it's still performing flawlessly. Here's a link to their web site: http://www.crracing.com/ Also, FWIW, here is a link to some photos of my radiator: http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=6858

I thought Tom's book title was 'The Not-so Good, The Really, Really Bad and The Fugly'. And Mike, why are you on the cover holding a HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT sticker? :jester: -

Careful............I resemble that remark. -
Looking good, toe.......Cresson is just around the corner.

I like that; clean, simple.

jevs, You must be reading my mind..........would be nice if you could see how they're mounted. :jester:
-
jevs, You may want to take a look at these hangers from SR. They come in a variety of sizes and look great: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/stw-th903bc/overview/

Went out to the shop and snapped a couple of pics. As I said, simple, but works well. . . . . . You'll be finished and driving sooner than you think.

Is it just me, or does this track environment scream "Hit me!" or "Crash here!" Trees galore, people standing track side, a big mound of dirt piled up next to what looks like a housing addition (cleverly disguised as a grassy knoll). The pit-out reminds me of my neighbor's driveway; never mind the pit-in guard rail with it's pointy end daring drivers to hit it dead on; here, hold my Castle Lager and watch this. :ack: And, and, and . . . . . I don't know, maybe things are done a little differently in South Africa and I'm just too critical. . . . . . But I do like the color of the Birkin.

That's racing! Thanks for sharing.

jevs, I currently have a flat ss strap attached to each of my exhaust. Each strap is attached to an aluminum L-brackets. The brackets, in turn, are bolted to the sides of the car (bolted to the bottom frame rail); simple, yet has worked well thus far. That is the way the car arrived after I purchased it back from Mike Sharkey. Having said that, this is what I did originally; perusing through these two pages may spur and idea or two: http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=8726
