  1. wow, you have one of those rare chrome orange Esprit.
  2. I have to increase the idle speed to about 1000 rpm (if you trust the Caterham tech) on my Zetec because it is too low and stalls when cold.
  3. Great looking! Really like the orange/red color.
  4. The Caterham waiting for riders at the Shriner Children Hospital fund raising event.
  5. "I took the Caterham out having volunteered to give rides for donations to the track fund. Apparently they decided my car wasn't exotic enough so " Skip - I was awarded the same treatment two months ago on the Shriners Children Hospital fund raising event. The Caterham was allowed to give rides but it has few takers until I was told by the organizer to run a few "hot lap" to show it is not a dinky toy car. Holy smoke, it was one of the fastest cars on the track and the Caterham was running almost non stop with riders afterward.
  6. It looks like the same one I have on my cars. Don' t be surprised that you may get a bunch of error codes. One of the codes on my 03 is due to factthat the engine was originally configured for an automatic transmission and now the car has a 5 speed.
  7. Light Wattage Headlight 60/55 sidelamp 5 Front/rear indicator 21 Tail/stop 21/5 rear fog 21 side repeator indicator 4 reversing 21 rear number plate 4 The above information as shown on Caterham owners handbook
  8. I thought I was smart when I ordered the Caterham "insulation" kit for my wife's 2009 Caterham with the SVT engine. I was getting tired on getting cooked in my 2003 Caterham with the standard Zetec and no insulation. Guess what, the 2009 car has a lot more heat in the pedal box than the older car. The majority of the heat comes through the transmission tunnel and the exhaust system. May be the SVT engine generates more heat but you can tell a big difference between the two cars.
  9. The Caterham tail lights are definitely weak. To begin with, the car is so low to the ground and tail light is one of those single bulb design unlike the old Ford Thunderbird with the fully articulated bling flashing lights. A third brake light is good to have. I have the Caterham third brake light behind the spare tire on the wife's car and it makes a big difference in comparsio to my Caterham.
  10. Once you get used to the distortion or learn to tilt your head a certain way, the Mirror for Seven is really good stuff. Highly recommended.
  11. The Avon CR500 195/45-15 is a good tire for road and track. They are light and wear well. The alternate choice is Toyo R888 195/50-15 if you are track oriented. Yoko does not ship their 195/50-15 A048 to the USA. Bridgestone RE11and Hankook Rs2 are available in 195/50-15.
  12. The setup looks fantastic. You are right about the garbage Caterham oil pressure gauge.
  13. Congratulation on your new toy. Have fun waving your hands at strangers admiring your car.
  14. Dallas and Austin area are not humid as the Texas coast. It is still hot in the summer.
  15. Kent cam should get you another 20 hp.
  16. I have sent you an article and pictures on a charity drive event for the Shriners Children Hospital.
  17. Impressive!!
  18. I have the standarc Caterham center mirror and two convex Spa mirrors on the green car and the Mirror for Seven mirror with two flat mirror on the silver car. The Mirror for Seven has a little better coverage but it is hard to adjust for two different drivers.
  19. A big thanks to John and Diane for organizing the event. We just got home after 3,000 miles of driving. We drove the Tail of the Dragon, what an experience even though we were in a Landcruiser. A great bunch of car lovers.
  20. Our Seven cars do not have traction control, ABS, aero, paddle shift, and that fancy steering wheel with all those buttons and lights.
  21. My 147 hp Caterham is easier to drive than my wife's 205 hp SVT Caterham around town. On the track, the extra horsepower and LSD make a big difference in performance. I don't get left behind on the straight.
  22. Driving the Caterham is part of the physical therapy program except you don't have the pretty nurse telling you to push harder.
  23. My wife and I plan to attend the Friday evening Lotus reception, LOG concour, watch the autocross on Sunday morning, and watch the track day on Monday morning. I like to free up Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings to USA7 functions and the typical tourist attractions. We will not be driving any Lotus or Caterham because we will keep on traveling in the Landcruiser to Nashville, Atlanta, etc. We don’t have a hotel reservation yet. 24. I had one of the first Hummer H2 and it was one of the worse built vehicles in the world. The only good thing about the H2 is that you can take it to any Chevrolet or GMC dealer for service when it breaks down. It saved me from camping on the side of the road several times.
  25. This is a fun event so no one can take home more than one trophy. The FTD winners are not considered for the car division.
