  1. Yes like Al said we just picked the local now we are wanting to start the recon and figure out dates, events etc... We just wanted to let everyone know the location so if you have suggestions or wanting to step up and assist we would know where we stand. I know we want a drive or two, the racers out there want some track time, we need some events for the kiddies.... If you have suggestions email them to me or even post here. This really is your event and we want you to be happy. Al, Mazda and I are just the "lucky" ones who get to put it all together. And like Al said membership renewals start next month and this is a key source of income to help fund the event, so the earlier you renew the bigger we can figure the budget to be.
  2. There was some talk on the USA mailing list about the guys on the west coast getting together and have their cars shipped. I just wanted to mention it here also. We (I) looked into shippers for cars to the Wyoming area for the meet getting a few areas to ship cars from. Almost everyone was looking at 1000-2000 miles one way and that would be 3-4 day drive there 3-4 days back plus 3-4 days for the meet and asking a lot of time, but to ship fly in and out would make it a workable vacation. This was going to be around 20-30K per truck for them to pick-up travel 1500 miles wait at the event and return 6-7 cars per truck (remember the trucks are basically ours even for storage at the event for 2 weeks. Of course nothing was in stone as dates were uncertain and gas prices well.... If I can get some suggestions of how many are interested and areas of for pick up I will look further into shipping of cars. Basically see what kind of deals can be worked out.
  3. Glad Carlisle was last weekend my gas bill was $550 for the 1600 mile round trip 12mpg for the old truck and trailer combo... $3.84 for 87 up from 3.59 Monday $3.97 for 89 $4.06 for 93 at the Shell down the street $4.10 for 93 $7.25 for 98 (normally what I try to use in the Seven) $8.25 for 110 $9.75 for 119 at the track last time I looked a week or so ago And the guys on the sevens list are saying #1.30 per liter in the UK (3.9L ot a gallon) Really need to get the CRX on the road...
  4. Just came across this. IMHO not that bad looking as a matter of a fact one of the best Seven coupes I have seen. Also nice update to the style. Just wonder what they will cost. Oh and the european house since they are coming here. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/23/donkervoort-d8-gt-in-production-sales-begin-in-june/
  5. Almost brings a tear to my eye, also. But I sure you will be back as an owner soon. Thanks for letting me drive it down at Carlisle, much different than my car. Hal you can use drive, Al is easier on Sevens than leaving them sit parked in a garage.
  6. Man Jack you bring back memories. I was building my Stalker at the time of that photo (now Walt L's in SC). It was a long time ago (2001) I was first at Brett's just dreaming about owning a 7 one day. Without the USGP I am sure glad you guys are having LOG, I am not sure what I would do with a summer without you CHILL guys. See you in July.
  7. I talked with Justin on Friday and yes first time on the course and I think he sort of said the first time he really saw the course. I am glad to see them selling so many cars as I am sure they will be adding wing to thier home for all the FTD awards they have. Evil post your idea to the Northeast or Mid-atlantic threads I am sure you will get some response. maybe you can get some of the DC autoxers up that way for the day.
  8. Check the National meet sections USA7s just announced the location. I am going to keep that news there so we don't have lots of cross postings. The other thing is I have suggested (and the officers agree) that we should have a club newsletter. So now I guess I am club president and newsletter editor. The delivery and format are still being developed but it should be bi-monthly and I am asking your help for content. I would like 7 stories, tech articles, photos, and even maybe personal announcements (ie so and so are getting married, had a child, won the lottery and is sharing it with everyone here...). The --Eloquent thoughts on driving—thread that was started today is some of what we would like to include. Or that charging system wiring diagram that Harold needs might be a good tech item. Or a quick review of driving in the One Lap (hint). You get the idea. The hope is to keep the membership that is not forum active in the loop, help keep everyone informed of what club happenings, and the world of 7s. The hope is the new newsletter will be included in your membership renewal packet. (remember to renew your membership between June 7 and August 7) I have set up a dedicated email for this sparecr@supersevens.com or you can just go through the email/PM in my profile.
  9. Boy, I rarely start a thread here but as your acting club president it is my pleasure to announce that we have chosen a location for the next national meet. Those of you who were in Carlisle and read your flyer already know. After much debating, :boxing: conversations, :grouphug: and research  we have chosen the Ozarks near Branson, Missouri as the winner. Now that is done we will be coming up with the exact dates, hotels, and all the other fun stuff that is expected in one of our national meets. (Thanks Al and Mazda for making my job hard this time around). Just for your planning purposes the target dates are between June and August 2009. Happy motoring and see ya in Branson:7fume:
  10. Sorry to get in so late but got back to Alabama about 11 last night. I had a great time and we even had 5 Sevens in the tent on Friday when it rained all day. Saturday turned out wonderful. It was great to see everyone again, even if for a moment at a time. I was wearing 4 hats (club president, Carlisle judge, selling my Elan, museum rep) so next year I will lighten my load some. Speaking of next year Carlisle is May 15-17 so mark your calendars. I have worked out the tent for no charge next year (90% positive on that right now). --West coast guys get in touch we have to somesomething for you guys (Knott's Berry maybe?)-- Guess I am a wuss drove 1700 miles over 5 days to goto Carlisle and only put 1 mile on the 7 in that entire time.....
  11. I have my car registered in VA (1978 Caterham) on real VA plates. If you buy a completed car from out of state there should be no real problems other than emissions (depending on your local and model year of car) and how well you get along with garage that does your inspections. I also just read a post here VA just passed new kit car regulations so check into that, from what I knew about this it should make it a breeze (if the goverment wasn't involved):7frog:
  12. Okay I went down to the hotel computer and looked up this site, it isn't porn. It seem legit. Now she isn't exactly heel and toeing, but she does have high heels. Interesting posts from member #700 however.
  13. Don't rule out Stalkers or a Rotus. Don't we have a guy here with an LS powered Rotus, maybe Mazda doesn't need the competion however. Depending on much you are looking to spend you may want to inquire to Stalker or WCM (Ultralight) about pricing a new kit.
  14. I would think a Caterham or a Birkin might be a tight fit for someone at 6' 180, it will depend on how you wear it. The S1 is a bigger car so you may fit better. I have not sat in the latest Westfield yet so I cannot give a thought there. A Stalker might also be an option for you, I see Jack B. is involved here so he will tell you all you need to know. You really should drive up to Carlisle. Yes a woman might be able to do some things but they are everywhere all the time. A gathering of 15-20 7's doesn't happen often in the US. If you can't come up ask around I know there are Stalkers, Caterhams, Lotus, Birkins, Locosts all within a few hours drive of you and you really need to try these cars, everyone is so different.
  15. Avery Sorry been playing in VA and PA this week. I will be back in Alabama and if you are serious I would consider looking at the car for you. I am out of Birmingham. Let me know, I may even consider selling mine (have my eye on another car, that is coming up for sale (S3, needs reassembled))
  16. Okay 5 of us here today. And it seems some of us are nuts pulling into the show in the rain after driving over from Ohio. (and my boss from the last job says I am crazy). Our tent is over near the Standard of Excellence tent, drive down the center road and we are in the British section off to the left. Forcast looks so-so, I kept hearing it would be reasonably rain free tomorrow, we will see. I will be at the show as close to 7 as possible, so look forward to seeing everyone. Dress warm, it will be cool. :7rain:
  17. I will be at the Hampton Inn if you have problems. I won't be chipper at 1AM but always willing to help a 7ner. Cell is 703-371-0245. As far as camping you really need to check with Carlisle, I am not sure camping is allowed but I know some were camping in the parking area last year. I will be in Carlisle by 10-1030 AM
  18. Don't know this car but a 7 in Alabama, still titled in VA, sort of sounds like mine.
  19. Lotus Twin Cam Dual Weber 45s 27-28mpg I never drive in an economy mode. Actually cheaper to drive than my truck 15mpg, even though the Cat runs 93 or 98 octane.
  20. Should we bring some toold and let Harold drive his car home? Double check that wheel torque, one of the highest I have seen. The only higher number I have seen on a lightwheight car areE the Radicals at work 250 but that is a single nut.
  21. One, maybe 2, could be 3 (if eVox would ever get back to me). I will be heading back to VA that night (then AL Sunday), so can't be out to late.
  22. Now Al, I am bringing 2 Sevens and probally will have the M100 (for sale, cheap) there on Saturday, all registeed under USA7s.org. So I am trying to help with the tent thing. Just a reminder to anyone who puts any car anywhere on the Fun Field make sure you register your club affiliation with USA7s.org. At 25 registered cars we get the tent for free. Seems we are less than 10 cars away.
  23. It does appear to be a Pinto 2.0 for a motor. The bonnet sure looks well odd, esp with two pieces. It does appear to be an early car but not 72 (Caterham did not sell a Series 3 kit until 74, which is the build year of my car). I would guess this kit is 78-79 era. Doesn't really matter and would decent registration year for those in emissions areas. Does has the orginal Maserati air horns. Not saying anything is wrong, but the hood bump sure hurts the styling.
  24. I will be going from Birmingham, Alabama, could run through GA, depending on where you are at. Contact me off list if interested. I will be driving my truck (4 dr Dakota) and towing my Caterham and an addtional 7 frame, so we won't be to close and personal.
  25. Sorry to hear, but sometimes you get what you want. You will be an owner soon, again. Will the car still be at Carlisle?
