You do what you gotta do. Heck I am looking for a warehouse to make a corner into an apartment and the rest for the cars.
-
Ohhhh, please don't tell Diana. August is already looking busy.
-
Yep that is what I keep saying. Paid the same money as would have a for a real Lotus also. You feel free to do all the mods you want, I am trying to bring mine back closer to orginal not that it is to far off now. To each his own.

My 78 Twin Cam Cat I have also been told was one of the first 100. 1974 Ki kit completed and first registered in 78. But I have been told lots of things that were not true. I will check the number when I get home home and see where I fall in. As for these becoming classics well they are. I have tried to even stop mentioning Lotus when people ask me what my car is. Heck Lotus only built them for 15 or so years. Caterham has 35 years.

I sort of want to thank you guys for having such bad days. It should make most of us realize no matter how crappy our day is it always could be worse.
-
And it was discussed that the next USA7s national should be seperate from LOG. We did the joint thing because of the location and Lotus collection, plus the economy. USa7s however would like to have a good showing at LOG. There right now is a big push to get as many 7s there as possible.

Not low. We like to use the rule 10psi per 1000rpm on most of our engines.

Okay I said I was going to try this again. I want to get a newsletter going for the club. With all the recent 7 events there should be plenty of stories to tell. How was the trip, what problems did you have, what happended to you, what Seven conversation did you have that needs repeating? I am open to all ideas. Send stories, send pictures, send money. Would love to have your stuff to me by July 13th. Publication July 31. Just send stuff -don't tell me what you are going to write, just submit anything 7, vintage, or racing related that you think would be of interest to our membership or prospective members. email to nodrivinggloves@gmail.com Something is coming out July 31. Up to you as to the quality.

I have one of those little Caterham racks. It is such a pain, but when you need it for chairs at a show or a cooler it cannot be beat. Comes off and on with ease.

As out going President, incoming secertary this is one thing that the officer pool has at the top of the list. Right now if you are a paid member you are able to post in the For Sale section, non-members cannot do this. In order to participate in any USA7s sponsered drives or events you must be a paid member, just ask Al who was collecting money at the door of the Barber museum during LOG, as the museum and track tours were for paid members only. In addition for those who came to LOG who did not belong to Lotus Ltd, USA7s covered your weekend pass to the museum ($25 normally). We (I) am working on restarting the club newsletter which paid members will get 30 days before non-members. Mazda has been working on a few vendor deals which will be made available to members and this is something that both Al and I will try to expand on. Value for your membership dollar was a main concern for me when I was elected President, as I said I slacked a little during my tenture (which is why I did not run again), but we hope to be able to show you further value in the future.

Yes it was Drew's car. And Mick now you know why I bought a Caterham instead of an Elise.
-
I would go with Frankn7 also. I had my forum name on my M100 and no one got it. Of course I have USA7S on my truck (see LOG29 pics) and who wants to be like me.

Duh! I missed the joke. So how'd it tow on the way home?

See I let you guys down, forgot the theatre and Bass Pro. I am not sure about a dues increase but next time there may be an registration fee. It may be hard to keep the registration fee at $0.00.

Let me thank everyone who came to Birmingham for the event. I feel I did little to make this the great event everyone here tells me it was. It was all of you who came down and took part that really made this event the true sucess it was. I am really hoping to see everyone again in Gettysburg or Carlisle or.... soon

I was at the Wynfrey in the bar Thursday night with Clive and Bob, was at the Peter Egan thing for a short time last night and I have yet to see anyone. Guess I was on Stealth mode. Look forward to meeting up today at Barber 1:30ish, come early if you wish and start looking around the museum it could take a day in itself... After the tour everyone here will have the Twitter info in case they want to do quick updates...
-
I would also say Rob and David need to post something about what they can offer to the club. Not an issuse if running unopposed, but since there are 4 of us now... I made my case on page 1 near the bottom.

The trailer may work for your needs. Go take a look. The side wall of the tire will give you a load rating per tire. You may be able to upgrade the tire/wheels to a larger size depends on the hubs. looks like a snowmobile trailer.

If towing with a Jetta, best bet will be aluminum. Weight is your main concern here. I agree 6.5 x 14 is the smallest you want to go. I use a 6x12 enclosed for my stock 1978 Caterham and it leaves room for nothing else. I prefer to use a dual axle set up for my trailers, again however my 6x12 which I have 18,000 miles on is a single I just am very anal about the tires and bearings. For highway speeds you may want a 13 or 14 inch wheel, much easier on the bearings and a better choice of tires. Finally I would make sure the trailer has electric brakes it will make life so much easier on your car not to metion the safety factor. My expensive recomendation.

I am sorry to post this here but this info needs to be noticed by those coming to USA7s09 in Birmingham. Our event is slated to start at 1:30 PM at Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, mention at the front desk you are with USA7s and please bring your membership card. I will be at my normal cigar hangout Cigar's and More, 4647 Highway 280, Birmingham, AL Thursday night if anyone gets to town early and wants to come by. If you have not emailed nodrivinggloves@gmail.com to register, just tell me name, if if attending LOG and what events, and where you are staying. The below is copied from my schedule posting in the Events Section- Sorry for the late notice but trying to get everyone accounted for and "registered". as of right now there are 12 USA7s members registered. It appears everyone is staying at the Wynfrey and has registered for LOG. There is one person who did not include this info in their email so I am unsure. The majority is showing up on Thursday and more than half are registered for the Peter Egan dinner, sponsored by Caterham Cars (no doing on our part). USA7s was not slated to start until Friday so if you had not registered for this Q&A with Peter it could be interesting. The Official USA7s stuff will start at 1:30 at the Barber Museum. I am planning on giving you behind the scenes tour, a track tour, and possibly a track track lap (in a van sorry). This is the only time this is happening over the weekend, the basement floor is open for LOG on Saturday during lunch, but not the back areas. So please gather in the lobby of the museum by 1:30 on Friday. Friday evening if you are not attending the LOG welcome dinner, there is an informal car show at the host hotel for the Sportscars in the Park event. Just a parking lot shoot the shat pizza and BYoB thing. Some of the LOG special guest might drop by, might not. After this I plan on shooting over to the Wynfrey for the LOG Bar Scene. Saturday is the day of shows and racing at Barber's. It appears most everyone is registered with LOG so all the Sevens will be displayed in that group. There of course is the Sportscars in the Park just up the hill from the LOG concours, and the SE Region Mercedes Club is having a meet in the park also. Lunch will be in the museum, if you registered for a LOG lunch. If not a "roach coach" will be up the hill for the lunch needs. I plan on doing the USA7s board meeting in the Atrium of the museum Saturday around 3. Saturday night is open events again more than half have registered for the LOG dinner that night, but I think we are going to get Al to take the other half out together, somewhere. Sunday some will be autoXing and those who wanted the drive are in luck, we will be doing a drive from the hotel to 29 Dreams for breakfast, decent roads most of the way and after breakfast we will continue on Copperhead Road which has been compared to the Dragon, you make the call. So yeah one drive, one show, a big track day, an autoX, a few good meals with buds hope it works as a nice casual relaxing weekend for all. Remember much of this was designed to keep costs low to the group and the indivdual, but allow whoever comes to have a great time. And if we want more excitment let me know via email, or say something Friday I try and keep everything fluid. email with questions/comments nodrivinggloves@gmail.com

Knoxville to Birmingham is about 5 hours, do your best to get to the south side of Knoxville (and be sure to use 640, 40 is closed and they mean closed, just follow detour signs and you will be okay) I Just did Carlisle to Birmingham 2 weeks ago 12 Hours with my Ram 1500 and trailer. No USA7 events are seperate from LOG, there is some overlap, but we have our own stuff planned in addtion to events we can piggyback on with the Local British club and LOG. Just remember our stuff starts at the Barber Museum at 1:30 Friday, tell the front desk you are with USA7s or John Viviani. See the above thread for the basic details for the weekend. Please email me at nodrivinggloves@gmail.com so I can keep you updated on the happenings or check the Twitter page for updates of how the event is going at

Dang and couldn't even manage to get the rad out of the way in my car.

I set up a Twitter page for USA7s09. I will give the password to all of attendees on Friday and hopefully they will post all weekend long the going ons for those who could not make it. Until then I am going to use to help notify of any updates.
