My brother is in Lawernce so I may be able to figure out this trip. So lets say maybe to my Caterham being there. Depends on the old work schedule. But anything Lotus related is normally cool with them:d

Dang it, the time I travel without the computer. On a train Friday to pick up the Caterham in VA, nothing to do on Saturday, then trailered the Cat back to Alabama. Would have been there. Did drive the car to lunch Saturday however.

If you had to get your first seven all over again...
sparecr replied to slngsht's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Even though I love my Series 3 Caterham, it would have made more sense to buy the real thing Like and S2 or S3 Lotus. But of course it would not be twin-cam etc... I always describe my car as as close as you can get to a real Lotus 7 without having a Lotus. But have driven it over 1000 miles no a single problem. So I can't complain. I even came with an extra set of fiberglass in another color in case I want a different car. Would I sell it to get a S2 or 3 yes, would I sell it just to sell it, no. -
Okay I got to .013, and a .015 but the false starts etc to get there. Afraid I would wear out the old space bar.

I was just wondering as the tent deadline is nearing. We will get one reserved and work things from there. Hope to see all Lotus persons there. And man last time I type elisetalk.com it came up elisetalk, maybe I should go over there once and a while. Esp since that is where I found my Caterham.......

Anybody familiar with Suzuki Swift or Samurai transmissions?
sparecr replied to ottocycle's topic in General Tech
Not sure how busy he is but Mike over at Currie's in Chanitily, VA knows his Suzuki's farly well. He owns a few and may be able to provide some other options. He can come up with some crazy swaps. FYI the X90 uses the exact same motro as the Swift GTi did with a RWD transmission, guess where I learned that. If you have a free weekday maybe it would be worth the drive over get an oil change and see if you can pick his brain. Just don't bring up his Exige.... -
Sort of died off here, I am assuming since we have 10 who say they will be there realistically we will have 5-6 cars right? Just trying to figure out if we want the tent or not.

John D. is a diehard Lotus Seven guy, and if looking for a "real" Lotus Seven his site is a great place to start. Also some excellent info on Sevens history. He does not really care for any other LSiS car, however (cats included). www.simplesevens.org

I can't see a US version of the show making it. Part of the appeal is it is one of the highest rated shows in the UK so they seem to get away with anything, never would fly here. That and there is no way NBC would risk loosing a sponser if the host were to be as honest as they can be on Top Gear. Just think one of the US hosts point out how bad a -insert car here- is and picks it apart, if it happens to many times sponsers will pull out and manufactures will stop providing cars. I hope it works but I would bet it won't make it.

Not to go off topic This is an example of what I recieve from Vonage-- "Yes. This is (Shawn?) at (??) (Electric?). I got (up?) on 234 and I'm coming up to (Lee Highway?). I was just wanna make sure I'm going the right way. Can you give me a call back at 703-xxx-xxxx. Thank you." So not perfect but works and saves the dailing, passcodes and cell airtime. You may now return to beer talk...

I am going to try and have the tent placed so that Lotus cars and 7's can be basically in the same place. Since they normally don't label Lotus parking area the tent will probally cause the Lotus to parking in the area anyway. So we can overlap some. But as Al stated we would like to keep things 7 related inorder to promote the club, by having other cars I can see it causing confusion. I am in the same boat also as I will be trailering my 7 from AL, but the Erin will probally brint the Elan.

In that case I love it. Best inventions --car, Tivo, VM to text.....

Lower right made me think MOON. Talk about messing with the A/F ratios in my webers. Anyone have a line on a container shuttle?

Legal has never been my scene..... (Motley Crue 1987ish?) :7frog:

Not sure if it is the same but I have that feature on all my Vonage phone lines. It works reasonably well and I never check listen to the voicemails anymore. Caller calls, leaves the message, and in a few I have the text on my Treo. Every few days I just log on and delete my VMs. Now if Verizon could do that

I plan on making to Carlisle no matter. I have been talking with them and we will see what can be done. 7s and Lotus have always been ignored there.

Took the Seven today out and I looked like this :7drive: This is a great week to be unemployed -i.e. between jobs-

Update from the missing Club President
sparecr replied to sparecr's topic in General Sevens Discussion
First yes it it is in my job description that we must use museum cars a minium of 2hrs a week on the track Yes I was on the Huntsville project, company I was with also did the rocket in Houston. Yes orginal drawings etc were used, but keep in mind this was for appearance sake (i.e. preservation), it does not have to function (i.e. restoration). I spent most of the time working with the command module. This one was used for the drop tests in 62-65. The rest was fabbing little cosmetic bits that are no longer made. http://www.usa7s.org/aspnetforum/upload/1996085536_DSCN9299sm.JPG http://www.usa7s.org/aspnetforum/upload/34302462_DSCN9254.JPG http://www.usa7s.org/aspnetforum/upload/489615803_DSCN9062sm.JPG And one for the club http://www.usa7s.org/aspnetforum/upload/324035046_7ssm.JPG -
Well I have been extremly quite. I am not a talkative person but just to fill you guys and gals in I have had a hectic summer-fall-winter but see things settling and plan to really get more involved here. I finished my Saturn V rocket restoration project and left that job only to take a job doing restoration work at the Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, AL. The place reportedly has the largest Lotus collection in the world. www.barbermotorsports.com/ First project may involve SCCA champion 7, if not I think it will be a Lotus 17... So this does mean I will be leaving the Northen VA area (actually next week) and moving to Birmingham so I look to try and catch up with some of you in the SE region. I will be in VA time to time to close up the house and other things. Will be making it to Carlisle kit cars (British Cars are the featured make, and I have been pushing for a Lotus section on the field (I do judgeing for them so hopfully they will listen)). I believe Mazda and I have resolved some email issuses here for those that need to contact me, but you can always email me at geeno@supersevens.com. Oh and yes that was my Caterham listed on ebay in early December for $25,000 Buy it now, keep in mind that included about $3K worth of spares, second set of wheels and fiberglass, plus an enclosed trailer. The reserve was much less. I may still consider selling the car I sort of want an orginal S2 or S3 7. My Elan M100 is also for sale $15K or offers, I have found I have found I have way to many cars, plus now that I get to play with real Lotus F1 cars....... If you are ever in the Birmingham/Huntsville area look me up and those of you there drop me a line I know no one..... John Viviani

How many rides / drives did you give / receive
sparecr replied to slngsht's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I gave Preston (from Automobile)a ride, and then let him have a go at driving. Those who met him he is sort of a tall guy and my Old Cat is a short cockpit bench seat affair. I think there was one more but the weekend is just a blur. -
My quick guess, as all my Seven books are at home is a Robin Hood. Dimesions look the same, the one piece hood, the SUs through the bonnet... I may be wrong but i would start there.
