Just has everyone has said, an amazing event, well organized, well run, great facility, amazing hospitality. Thanks Mike and Tom for all your effort. See you next year. After no weekend pursuing a dangerous pastime, Claudia fell down the stares and badly sprained her ankle, so be careful out there. Graham

Just arrived at a local hotel. Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow Graham

Arm restraints should arrive today along with a new gas can, already to go now. Graham

Arm restraints. I have never used arm restraints before, but I can see the reasoning. So what should I look for? are there any option or advantages with different brands. Graham

Mike, my Locost is Honda K series powered I will be taking up the find offers of tire pyrometers Graham
-
Does anyone that is attending have a Tire Pyrometer? I have never used one of the seven and was thinking of buying one if there was not one available. Being there for 2 days we probably should make some attempt to get the car setup better for the second day. Graham

I wish I had my spares selection with me, but they are in a Pod along with my full tool boxes. I will have a limited tool selection and no spares at the track. The car went straight from my Chicago storage facility to Mike's garage at NJMP. So since the last track day it has been driven on and off the trailer. But the car has been very reliable so I am not really expecting problems. Graham

I am a bit worried about my "mechanical fortune", the 7 has not had it winter maintenance because of the move from Illinois. But hopefully everything goes well. Really looking forward to the event and getting out on a new to me track. Graham

You can use this size chart to turn your dimensions into the BCI Number. Then you should be able to search for a specific battery. http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/CarBatterySizes&BatteryCutoffSwitches.html Graham

Mike was kind enough to allow me to store my 7 in his garage at NJMP prior to the event. We do not yet have a house in Maryland. After complete the house sale in Chicago the wife, dog the 7 and I drove over to Marlyand. This morning I towed the 7 over to Mikes amazing garage to NJMP. I am all ready to go now. Thanks again Mike Graham

I am moving from IL to MD. I will use a normal moving company for the household stuff. But I am looking at Pod's for some garage equipment. I was going to get a storage unit in IL and stash the stuff there. But then I would have to drive back and get a trailer and move the equipment to MD. I am not sure the new house will have a big enough garage, I might have to build one. So I was thinking of a Pod, load the stuff up, they can sore it and when I am ready get it delivered. Does anyone have experiences or have a better idea? Thanks Graham

I am not sure I am going to make this but I am going to try. I have been working in College Park MD since January. Our house in Chicago went on the market today. So far we have 4 showing in the first day so that is a good sign. The agents open house is Thursday, the public open house Sunday. If I can get a new house and get the car moved to MD by the event I am in, at least I will come as a spectator. The car is all ready to go, an oil change at the most. I even got a Hans device as my safety upgrade for this year. I put my chances at 50:50 but we will give it our best. Graham

2017 Katie's Cars & Coffee Thread - Great Falls, VA

I actually went for the first time today. I am moving to the College Park MD area for a new job. My Locost 7 will have to wait until I have a new house before it gets moved to MD, I am hoping it will be sooner rather then later but we have to sell the house in Chicago first. I loved the little tiny Crosley microcar that arrived late, it was tough to work out how they got 2 adults in the thing Graham -
I am not sure about the setup issues, but if your looking for a new rear axle look at the 1st gen Mazda RX7, the GSL models have LSD stock and disk brakes. They are light in weight, available cheaply I got mine complete for $95. So check them out if you go that way Graham

What size fuse are you blowing? Graham

There are standard processes to mount a k24 north and south. Just do a little research. For mine it was a Type S oil pump and a Canton North and South sump. My motor has been thrashed at many track days without an oiling issue. There are quite a few K-Miata cars in the area, many track dogs and I have never heard of an oiling issue. Dave the owner of K-Miata has been trashing his can for 3 or 4 years on the same motor. Graham

The S2000 trans is stronger, but the Miata trans is strong enough, especially the 6 speed. I would dispute the costs, there are a lot of Miata's out there, and you only need a NA or NB trans, that's 1990 to 2005, so that's a lot to choice from. Graham

Checkout kmiata.com there setup allows you to use a K24 thru a Miata trans. Checkout my posts on lococtusa.com for build information Graham

Great time to buy parts out of the UK

Just got another deal. Spax front shocks for the Triumph $417 + shipping was the best deal I could get in the US. From www.dcperformance.co.uk I got $280 to the front door a savings of about $150 Graham -

I picked up a Quaife LSD for my Triumph, the cheapest I could get it in the US was $1375+ shipping. Demon Tweaks had a sale $882 shipped to the front door. Graham -
Check your local parts store. I was able to rent a Honda crank pulley tool for free from my local Napa. Worth a try. Graham

I had the same problem with my Locost. I ended up using a inside the tank, surge tank. It is held in place by foam. Foam was the first thing I tried and it made no difference, so now the foam hold the Surge Tank in place. Graham https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=2538

Sorry I did not answer the muffler question. I have a Honda K24A2 power car, so the engine is similar. My first exhaust was a 3" resonator followed by a 3" muffler. It was brain rattling loud, screw the ear plugs in as far as you can, on the street you were driving all the time to reduce noise, it was obnoxious. So a re-design over the winter. I added a Vortex cone before the muffler and a SuperTrap tip. I put 14 disks in the SuperTrap. Wow what a difference, the car is actually very quiet, I am amazed, I am super happy. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dtc-772-32520
