  1. I have no idea why anyone would want a servo brakes. I am running dual Wilwood master, peddle is firm, I did go to softer pads to get more feel. Effort is not noticeably different from any other car I have driven. Because you can change the front and rear master individually you can get exactly the pressure and feel you want. Graham
  2. I just use the easy bleeder from Harbor Freight. I think I got it on sale for $19 used it on many cars and motorcycles, http://www.harborfreight.com/brake-fluid-bleeder-92924.html Graham
  3. FejerSS, welcome. There are not many cars in the Chicago area, I have a Honda powered Locost in Glen Ellyn, there is another rotary power Locost in West Chicago. If I can help let me know. Graham
  4. Year ago at the Formula Ford national championships you drew a lottery to pick your engine. Well there was only engine that had a name Patch, because it had poked a rod and had a plate welded on the hole. Patch was the most winning national motor in the class, everybody want to draw Patch. Nobody ever really worked out why Patch was fast, but the best guess was it had somehow stress relieved the block and it help it's shape better when hot. So don't dismiss the repair, you could name your motor and have a great talking point. Graham
  5. There is a original light blue Seven in the area, I meet the guy at a track day. Nice original car with a twin cam. He had transmission problems and loaded the car up and went home before I could get any further information. Graham
  6. I am not far away from rx7locost in Glen Ellyn. I have a CMC that is going through a Honda K24 engine swap. Your welcome to come over and check it out. Graham
  7. I am swapping engine in my Locost. I have the engine, intake, exhaust, muffler, clutch, flywheel, harness, ECU, engine mounts. Check out my post on the Locost site for pics http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=16891&sid=96a33c130e3c475756c3fd1ef37b06a6 Graham
  8. A good radiator shop should be able to repair it. They use special epoxy and flow it into the leak area. When I worked on a motorcycle race team, damaged radiators was a common problem. We ended up with some very strange bent and deformed radiators, but they were water tight. Graham

  10. There is a lot of confusion so I phones Race Line in the UK http://www.raceline.co.uk/ The Ecoboost and Duratec have the same bellhousing and sump bolt pattern They make a bellhousing to get to a T9, but in the US the Miata NC transmission on either 5 or 6 speed in the ticket. The Direct Injection is the biggest issue, there is little or no aftermarket support at present, so the stock ECU is probably the only way to go at this point in time. The stock ECU is a CAN Bus ECU with security features, so that route is probably not as simple as it sounds. The advent of the 2015 Turbo RWD Mustang is going to change the market in the US but it's a little to late to help me. Graham
  11. Turbowood. I don't think the bellhousing bolt pattern is different from a Duratec. We have one of these motors already and I am sure they are running a Duratec bellhousing. But I will check. We have someone that can make sumps, but I will try and get a Redline sump from the UK if it will fit. Graham
  12. Your correct it's an Ecoboost, the full package out of a 2014 Focus ST. I am planning on just running a Miata NC trans, probably the 5 speed as it's smaller, and I don't need 6 speeds. The engine is this http://tinyurl.com/la786p5 Graham
  13. Where did you put the radiator, all the way down in the nose? 14 pound boost is pretty conservative, I used to run 14 pounds boost in my Miata with stock compression. But I am looking at the stock Ford power curve, very flat torque curve. This is a stock motor out of a 2014 Focus ST. Probably something like this. http://superchipsltd.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/superchips-ford-s-max-2-0-ecoboost-203-ps-copy.jpg Graham
  14. Thanks for the info. So you don't run it through a radiator? My car will be running track days so I am worried about building heat during a session. Have you done any events in your car or just road driving. I think the stock boost level in this engine is 14 psi, but it is a low compression turbo engine. Graham
  15. I am assuming there is a reservoir, pump and a radiator. I would just like to see how it's all laid out. Graham
  16. Great, that was not a picture I had seen before, so it's a bonus, I think the pictures I remembered was of a yellow car. But this will help a lot. I wonder were the radiator is for the intercooler. Thanks Graham
  17. I might be getting a 2014 Turbo DI 2.0 Duratec. I remember seeing some pictures of an install in I think a Caterham. In stock form the inlet port points back at the firewall, and this install used a air/water intercooler. I have looked everywhere for the pictures and cannot find them, if anyone has the link please let me know. Thanks Graham
  18. Great people to play with, I already have a couple of days scheduled, June 9th at Autobahn and June 29th at Road Atlanta. Free instruction in the novice group is a big plus. Graham
  19. At one time VW used to out a solar panel in all the cars they shipped to the USA to keep the batteries topped up, it was cheaper then the warranty work to replace dead batteries after the cars had been stored for a while. There are literally 1000's of these available. I have one stuck to the window of my workshop, and battery I want to keep changed I just hook it up. I friend has one on the roof of his trailer. http://tinyurl.com/qgscbdo Graham
  20. I worked for MB for years, they have a very high warranty rate, one of the highest in the industry, but it has got better in recent years. It an expensive car so parts are going to be expensive, simple statement that many people do not understand. MB owners want to own a MB so they put up with a lot more stuff that say a Toyota owner. MB owners are up there with Ducati owners, they love there cars and will except a few extra trips to the dealership. Toyota's owners are the opposite Lexus even worse. There expect perfection and will bitch and moan about the smallest issue. So for Toyota and Lexus to always come out at or near the top of the quality list is amazing, because they are help to a higher standard. Graham
  21. I am currently working on this very project:) Graham
  22. I have a lot of packages shipped from the UK and I very rarely get any duty attached. It's only happened a couple of time in $20 years. When there was a duty payable they just put postage stamps on the package and make you pay for the stamps before you can pick up the package. Graham
  23. My Locost was originally titled in AZ as a 1957 Lotus. I just went to a local DVM and transferred the title, no problems at all. Maybe because I did not change the original title, I just transferred it. Graham
  24. Kitcat, have you just tried a machinist that specializes in Diffs and Transmissions. We have a guy west of Chicago (Paw Paw IL) that is amazing, no matter how bizarre the request he can pull it off. We also have a large local Merkur XR4TI presence. Those guys are swapping to larger Ford diffs, Surpa Diffs, even Porsche 930 drive shafts, no problem for Roy. If you have seen the American Pickers TV show, his place looks like that but all car related. Old school machine shop. If you want I will PM you with a phone number. Graham
  25. Miatacarpc, there are a couple of Locosts out in the Western Burbs, we have done a couple of AutoX's this year and I have done a couple of track days out at Autobahn. What is the date of the Supercar Saturday and I will see if I can make it. Graham http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/fastgxc/CAM00135_zpsb1cba377.jpg
