  1. Motul oil is as good as it gets, so that is not the issue. I think you just need to pull the head and get it checked out a set, head, springs and cams. I think it will be a false economy to do anything else. Someone might have cut the spring seats, the valve seats might be the problem, and you would never know. Another option is to just get a new head, get it build by a reputable shop and swap it over, that would be my plan of attach. Graham
  2. Only one cam lobe, the rest are perfect. I some ways the damage looks like flaking, but in some ways impact damage. Do you know if it was a billet cam or was it welded up? I would try and find an independent opinion before you send it back to the manufacture. Do you have a local engine builder/ race shop. Show it to them and see what there is opinion is, use that and the manufacture opinion to come up with a cause. Graham
  3. My first ever track experience was at Brands on a Yamaha RD350, love the place. Graham
  4. The Mocal site lists a Tank Adaptor 22mm Male x -AN Male. Just install that with a fiber washer and that get an AN cap fitting. https://www.amazon.com/Anodized-Aluminum-Adapter-Female-Fitting/dp/B00SI3NX2I?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&tag=duckduckgo-d-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00SI3NX2I Graham
  5. Papak, when you swap to led lights you have to swap the flasher relay. Some replays say led compatable. I used a Painless harness and still had to swap relay. The Painless setup is to expensive, I helped a friend out and he used a Kwik-wire or something like that, quality looked as good and it was 1/2 the price. Graham
  6. I am confused, unless you oil is getting so hot it's viscosity is going close to zero, I have no idea why an oil cooler will help your problem. You might show a little increase in oil pressure, but that will be from the extra effort to push the oil thru the cooler. Your water temp is good and you have tried different oils so I doubt it a heat/viscosity problem. Sounds like a oil pump or worn engine issue. I would change the oil pump and run super high quality oil with a lot of Zinc and thrash the thing to death. Just my opinion Graham
  7. After actually getting on on the track I did not even notice the anti-clockwise rotation, it felt totally normal. Or maybe I was just transfixed by all the concrete barriers. Graham
  8. This facility is about 30 miles south of Washington DC directly off I95, a great location. Well it was interesting, for a track built in 2016 this is a poster child for how not to do it, I have never seen so many concrete barriers in my life. It's a shame I don't know what these people were thinking, none of the motorcycle organizations hold events there, the PCA booked the track but cancelled everything after the first event. Checkout the video, It's a left handed track which is also strange, I cannot think I have ever been on a left handed track. Turn 1 is a very fast left hand bend, but your immediately funneled between 2 concrete walls, any wreck there is going to be huge. http://roadcourse.dominionraceway.com/ I was hoping this would be a nice close home track, but I will not be returning, NJMP is amazing. Graham
  9. Very nice, will have to order some Graham
  10. Did an autos today, that was my shake down run, car performed perfectly, so I am happy. Cannot wait for the 5th. Not long now I feel for Ronan, fabrication projects can get out of hand quickly. After my move from Chicago It will take me years to build a list of trusted shops. I have found a great welder so I have started the new list. Graham.
  11. When I did my Honda K24 to a Miata trans swap I had a devil of a problem with the clutch. I had the engine out 3 or 4 times, tried new clutch master and slaves cylinders, also tried different master cylinder sizes. I finally went to the K-Miata shop (at that time Dave's garage). After a lot of head scratching Dave said I have a clutch arm around here somewhere. Both looked perfect, but when we out them on a flat surface we could see they were different. My clutch fork was causing over extension of the clutch and that did make the clutch drag. So it's not crazy that over extension can cause clutch drag. Try engagement at various pedal travels and see what happens. Graham
  12. Signed up and travel plans made. Graham
  13. Watching a wet race video from Spa and was just about to click away and it turns into a 7 race, at about 1:30 http://digg.com/video/racecars-wet-track Graham
  14. Love the race Ford's my first real performance car was a Twin Cam Escort, big wing. Loved that car, always on the lookout for another one. Also have a Triumph TR8, remember when they first came out, drove to the British rally at Bristol. just to see it's debut. Tony Ponds wrapped it around a tree on the first stage!. Graham
  15. I only have 2 Snap-On tools, a 13 mm wrench I got at a garage sale for $2 and a Dial Gauge Torque wrench that I found in a car boot sale in the UK for 25 pounds. Love the torque wrench, one of my favorite tools. Graham
  16. Year ago I remember using a feeler gauge to make sure the plate was not fully compressed and evenly clamped down, not I cannot remember what size feeler gauge. Graham
  17. I once took a fake cashiers check for a motorcycle, well it was not a fake check it was a stolen check. They called the police when I attempted to cash it at my bank. I ended up claiming on insurance and got my money back. But the FBI came out to the house for me to look at a photo lineup, it was a group that got $300,000 in cars, motorcycles, RV's over a single weekend. But I have done other transactions with success, there has to be a level of trust, it you don't get that warm fuzzy feeling, don't do it. I just wired the money for the 7 the morning it was picked up from the seller, the car was exactly as I expected. Graham
  18. My Locost was originally titles in AZ and it was allocated a VIN#. It has a sticker showing the VIN# but they put the sticker on the Aluminum bodywork, not a frame rail. I am thinking of replacing the body work. If I do I am going to take a lot of pictures and turn the sticker into a plate and rivet it to a frame rail. Graham
  19. Yep, already talked to the concrete guys about that.

  21. Talking to a couple of local shops you have to wait for the concrete to cure for 60-90 days, I did not know that not it makes sense. So it looks like the new floor will be a spring project. I did like the Big Ass lights Thanks everyone Graham.
  22. The new house we moving into has a 13" drop in the garage floor! My only requirement before buying the house was "we must fix the garage floor", well next Monday the old floor gets jack hammered out and a new level floor installed. So I am planning on taking the opportunity to get the floor coated with something. So what is everyone's experiences. I like the finish Mike has in his NJMP garage. Graham
  23. I should have said, Brookland style screens, so no real windscreen. Graham
  24. I only have wing mirrors, that along with wearing a Hans Device I get real limited rear view on trackdays. If someone gets real close behind I just cannot see them. So a central rear view mirror would improve matters. Flat or Convex that is the question, I have no idea what would be better so what are people using? Thanks Graham
  25. I just solved my nagging oil leak problem, it was a missing bolt. The Honda K24A2 engine is a front wheel drive motor, there is an engine mount that attaches to the front cover. I did not use the front engine mount so left the one of the bolts out. Well it turns out it had oil behind it, who knew. A new bolt has solved the issue. It was tough to spot because the oil was running down the front cover and hitting the pulley and spraying everywhere. Not much oil on the actual engine but a lot of oil on the frame. I ended up using florescent dye in the oil to solve the puzzle. Graham
