Welcome Greg. Great looking car. I have a locost and visit Pitrace a couple of times a year, great track. Graham

On a Miata there is an engine ground bolt in the back of the block/head, I think it's on the exhaust side. Make sure you use it or you will have problems. I remember on the Turbo Miata list when people would install MegaSquirts and ground them to the chassis. It got to the point were the first question to people having issues was, where is your 'Squirt grounded? Talk to me again when it's grounded to the stock engine ground. Graham

Would that be a purple Rotus? Maybe out of Dan's stable? Cool car. Graham

Your details work and attention to details is amazing, so I have a suggestion for your plumbing system to take it to the next level. I don't use hose clamps. The only hose clamps in my far are for the air filter. If a connection will not get disassembled for maintenances I use Oetiker clamps, for the connection that will come apart during maintenance I use spring clamps. Why no hose clamps, they damage the hose, they look ugly, and the bare ends can really slice your hands when reaching into an engine. bay.

You can never have to many tools:) Drag it across the surface to be cleaned, rather that push it. That will get most of the goop off, maybe a little push action for the hard to remove patches. Graham

Most of the Japanese factory products are very good, I have used Hondabond with success. My favorite is the Toyota product especially designed for oil pans. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EDDTV0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A32SNTCC2T0DPY&psc=1 A good carbide scraper names light work of any clean up. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JBHZ890/ref=ewc_pr_img_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 Graham

I done many track days with many organizations over the years and have never seen the broom stick test even talked about let alone practically applied. Graham

I was thinking the same thing, I don't think Pectel is made in France. When you say nothing what does that imply, injectors firing, plugs. Is it ODB2 or have any diagnostics? Graham -
Front setup looks good, I see no reason to update, just rebuild. 7's do not need a lot of brakes and that is a Wilwood 2 piston caliper. As for the rears upgrade if you want to, but not necessary. If it was my car I would re-build the front and upgrade the rears to disks. Graham

I like https://hpdejunkie.com/ as a search site. appears to have a lot more tracks and organization than https://www.motorsportreg.com Graham

I run RaceChrono on my phone in the Locost with an ODB2 and a Garman GPS receiver. The data it captures is amazing for the $19 outlay. But I have nothing to compare the data against. I generally review the data back at the hotel or when I get home, I do not chase lap times. With nothing to compare to I am a little confused. The data I find most useful is speed, lateral G and vertical G. So I start looking to braking, I want 1g braking in the hard braking spots. Then a decrease in vertical G with an increase in lateral G as I enter the corner, with the lateral G getting up to 1g cornering. That is easy to say but tough to do, but we are getting there is the slower corners. But on the faster corners say 60mph plus is it reasonable to still expect 1g cornering? Faster corners are one of my weak spots, but I am not sure what to aim for. Graham

J1000, you sure have a project. Looks kinda complete, your typical Locost. You should probably join the Locost list at http://locostusa.com/ Graham

Question about your trailer and using a winch. I though when using a weight activated pivoting trailer you had to drive onto the trailer in one motion. If your too slow the trailer will pivot as soon as the front wheels pass the pivot point, causing the trailer to slam into the bottom of the chassis. Maybe I am wrong? Graham

It's all very subjective, I am 6'3" and used to own an MG Midget. Some people think a Miata is small, it's huge compared to a Midget. Graham

You need to go to NJMP September 18/19. You will be able to try all the variation of for size. Graham

I think the ban is not going to start until 2035, so we have a while. I think the battery landscape will be very different, maybe hydrogen fuel cells will be dominant. Time will tell. Graham
