  1. I went with them last year and had a good time. Nice group of guys and nice roads. This year is out for me unfortunately.
  2. Doug, glad to know there will be another Caterham in our neck of the woods. I'm Karl and live in Mahwah. I think you may have seen my car in bits at Radical Motorsports. With a whole lot of luck (and pestering Bert) I'll be at the June NJMP track event. Welcome, I'll watch for you on the roads!
  3. Here are a couple of pics I found on the web of my car pre crash. This was a PCA event at NJMP in March of this year. 4. Freight was nearly half the cost of the chassis. All to be with you guys in June!
  5. I'm using AutoTransport, the same company that brings in all the Caterhams to the US. It is coming by air freight. The CBU is big but quite light.
  6. Well, my chances of making it just went way up as my new Chassis Body Unit made it out of the paint shop last night and is ready to ship.
  7. My wife has given me permission to drive her Volvo wagon on the track if the caterham is not yet re-assembled.
  8. New Carbon??? Wait... Incoming news flash: Rumor has it that leading aerodynamicist John Iley is to become the Croc's performance director. Iley joins Croc from Team Caterham, much to the disappointment of Tony Fernandes’ squad.
  9. Well, As much as I would like to have my car back by then I am not holding out great hopes. It's a holiday in the UK today and my CBU was still "in the paint shop" on Friday. The shipping company Auto Freight (who ships all the Caterhams to the US) goes on holiday for two weeks on Friday. I've got my fingers crossed!!!
  10. Tom is right about ATL. They make great fuel cells. They make the standard Caterham cell, and can make one to any size you want.
  11. Just keep in mind you will be looking up at the Mini Coopers on the GSP! We could use more Sevens at our June NJMP event...
  12. A relatively modern Caterham should be much more reliable than a typical TR3, and loads of fun too. There are some great roads in western NJ (Bergen County here). However you may want to keep your options open for an occasional track day too; we have a fun group that goes to NJ Motorsports Park from time to time. Karl
  13. I'm registered as well. And, just to show my level of optimism in getting my car back on the track, I signed up for the Track Daze Lightning event the weekend before. Four days in a row on the track!!! Please pass me the Advil.
  14. There are still openings at this event if anyone wants to come. I'll be there in a Spec Racer (Cheese Wedge as Croc calls it) driving very slowly.
  15. My Hybrid Pro rubs on my CF seats too! Just a little wear on the device label. Still fits better than a HANS device I think. I will say the Hybrid Pro works well though. I had a bit of a crash while wearing mine. No neck strain at all, just a bruise on my back from the strap pulling on impact. I definitely recommend wearing some type of neck restraint. Karl
  16. I've got David at Auto Freight on stand by for air shipping! Caterham UK is preparing and painting the CBU, and if I play my cards right I will get Caterham to fit my new roll cage from Caged before it ships. So, who knows how fast the little guy in the paint shed can spray my car, or how long customs will take, but I hope to have the CBU in 2-3 weeks.
  17. They came in just a few days, I think shipping was about $200. I bought wheels and tires at the same time.
  18. So, even though the chassis is not apparently bent, the cost of the skin repair, painting and the risk of additional problems down the road make the new Chassis Body Unit the best option. One is on order from Caterham UK, in my favorite Caterham Orange color!
  19. I ordered 13" wheels and tyres from Caterham UK. Price was compettive at the time.
  20. not to worry, I'll be going slow.
  21. Ron, you have to come over and drive it on my iRacing simulator. Just let me know when you can make it. I even put a spare Caterham seat in so you will feel at home!!! I love driving at the Glen, very pretty and a fun track. You gotta be careful there as there is a lot of Armco.
  22. Ron, you are an animal... I'm in for HPDE 3 as well
  23. These are Mike Barnby wheels. Very cool looking, magnesium centers (a lot of work to keep safe) and very light. They were original equipment on the early R500s. You had to take very good care of them, checking for cracks often if you did not them to fall apart on the track. You can still get them made for you in the UK. Someone else may know more.
  24. I never noticed that. I'll check in with Schroth and see what they recommend.
