  1. That would not surprise me...his 1st version was even closer to a Dutton. He followed up with one with a 7ish nose/Cobra style rear. He used to listed in a lot of the old kit car guides but I haven't scrolled through one of those in a long time. Lord knows I have enough projects with a basketcase early Caterham, a partially finished Spyder framed/Zetec powered Europa, and a 40' motorhome project based on a '93 GMC Topkick! Maybe I need a hobby for my spare time...
  2. Not sure what ever became of the company but this kit was manufactured by a chap named Guy Williams I believe. He worked out of a barn near Vankleek Hill in eastern Ontario. He based his kits on Toyota running gear. Haven't seen nor heard of him in years despite being only an hour's drive from me....
  3. Karting huh? My wallet twitches remembering when my 2 sons were racing shifter karts all over the eastern half of the US with the wka national road race series...for only 6 yrs! We put over 200, 000 miles on our motorhome and 34' trailer. Ask me how I know how preposterously expensive that was. Cost me less when we ran a Super modified at Oswego...

    Calgary floods

Worse than the time will be the uninsured losses: very few houses will be insured as "overland flooding" coverage is rare in Canada. The flooding from 2005 is still being fought through the courts, hardly anyone has yet seen any cost recovery. And the Alberta government has a cap on disaster assistance that won't pay for most houses let alone the contents
  5. Post boxes are actually safer with rhd as you can drive in the correct road direction and reach the box rather than the typical idiot that pulls ovrr to the wrong side of the road. I had one of those a**holes almost get me last night when he pulled out right in front of me after getting his mail.
  6. We have a fair bit of personal experience with rhd...a close friend having a '62 S2 rhd that has spent a lot of time in our hands...and have been none the worse for the experience. Maybe I should not tempt the fates and add "so far"!
  7. My question was based on Oyagi's point of the "new" prejudice, made me wonder if there were perhaps some new government interventions that I should be concerned about...
  8. Prejudice against rhd? Do tell please, before I invest more time in our rhd Caterham project.....
  9. Strange...it does not show up as a link with my android but the last 4 words DID work as one. Thanks again Texas.
  10. I must have missed something.... Was there a hidden link to a sale site somewhere? All I have seen on this thread is the comments, no info about the car or its whereabouts. Not that is really matters with it now sold....

    Space Oddity

And from a fellow Canadian eh? I truly believe Chris has set a new standard in how astronauts can interact with us mere mortals. His daily live exchanges with students have provided a previously unheard of educational experience. I'm sure that a lot of kids have a newfound interest in all things space related. He'll be a tough act to follow!
  12. To go along with Tom's comments... You may want to check with the proper Canadian authorities for some of the other often overlooked fine print. There is zero tolerance when weapons are involved, don't even think of bringing one over the border. Also, you would be wise to check the regulations if you have any legal convictions of any sort: they will often see your entry refused, even a pot charge of 40 years ago. Just so you don't feel discriminated we face the same issues/red tape snaffles going into the US. Take it from someone living in a border town.... much easier to ask the questions, find the answers, long before you hit the border and get turned back disgusted! Paul Hill Morrisburg, Ontario Canada
  13. For those in the northeast/eastern Canada that appreciate such things check out... http://www.montreallivesteamers.com I used to take my sons there in their younger years, an easy hour drive for a day of enjoyment that they remember still 20 yrs later.
  14. Anyone know the proposed dates? Host hotel?
  15. Saw on a news clip that their average age was over 68!
  16. Hey... i resemble that remark! There are some of us on here with a foot in both camps so don't lean either way. Fun cars are fun cars, no matter what the nose emblems say. Says the guy with 3 Europa and an early Caterham, none of which run...YET! Oh... in reference to a different thread... I hit 60 in October! Life is what you make it...
  17. Guess I missed a detail... What motor are we addressing here?
  18. Dated but still excellent! Thanks for the reminder for us old farts and the heritage clues for those to young to have seen the glory days 1st hand. RIP Colin, your legacy lives on.
  19. Dan I have the widetrack wishbones and coilovers from Karl's car, as well as the matching sway bar. Now not needed here if you are interested.
  20. Hey Karl I have not yet used the control arms or shocks I bought from you. If they would be of any use just holler. Paul
  21. For the landlubber, non-swimmer types... and likely considerably cheaper too!
  22. Croc Do you know if Caterham ever went ahead with the US equivalent of the track day you enjoyed so much? I don't recall ever seeing anything more about it. I'm sure they would have enough interest, given enough of an advertising budget. Better still would be if they had a travelling circus, went to multiple tracks in a larger geographical area. Sadly most Europeans have no concept about the actual size of the US or Canada, how long it can take to drive between cities. They only see the dots on the map and don't take scale into account.
  23. Have been down this road (frozen/stuck/rusted fasteners) more than a few times... the joys of living in an area that uses HUGE amounts of road salt in winter! Do yourself a favour: get some ATF (automatic transmission fluid) and mix it 50/50 with acetone. Works FAR better than any commercially available product. The acetone evaporates quite quickly so mix it in small batches. I usually mix it in a small metal pump type oil can, pour the remains into a metal container with a lid that seals tightly.
  24. Thanks for your thoughts. To be perfectly honestI am inclined to agree with you but thought it worth a shot here 1st. Has surprised me what parts I have been able to come up with! I am not close to the reassembly stage still, way too many other projects in the fire to be able to steal shop space. I'm not sure how much space is available til we get the motor more or less in place: I have Caterham Zetec motor mounts to try, the car originally had a crossflow or TC motor, now long gone. Stll will need to sort out the T-9 to Zetec bellhousing/clutch blues before I can think of dropping the drivetrain in. One project at a time.....
  25. Presently the motor is totally stock... oem cast aluminum block extension with the stock shallow steel pan. In the Seven application the bottom of the pan is sloped to one side, a holdover from when the motor had a forward tilt in the transverse Focus location. I'm away for a few days but could post a pic when I get home if that would be of any value.
