  1. Maybe this question is a bit inflammatory but I am curious.... Everything I have seen suggests a complete car sells for £24995 in the UK, which converts to just over $40k in US funds. How does that balloon to more than that for a roller on this side of the pond?
  2. Oops.... Sorry Randy!
  3. Reminds me of the old Red Rose tea commercials we used to see here in Canada.... "Only in Canada you say? Pity!" Only in this case I presume it is only available in the UK. No self respecting North American beurocrat would ever allow such a fun car on this side of the pond!
  4. Were it me I would be talking to gent with the one for sale in Denver real quick. Perhaps a deal could be struck to borrow/rent parts for molds or patterns. Or perhaps he could advise you who buys it, then.make a deal with the new owner. That car does seem to be intact, have all the parts in question. Not seen very often....
  5. FYI... The 709 area code is for Newfoundland.
  6. PM sent to jdbanker. Will advise what I learn here. Mark seems like too good of a source to lose track of. Thanks!
  7. I couldn't get http://www.pdllc.net to pull up. Got any other links?
  8. Shane and all who did NOT have turkey today.... Well guys, it was tough but I FORCED myself to eat enough for all of you who missed out today! Seriously, we had an almost perfect day... All 7 kids made it home for our "lunch" meal, some from as much as 3 hr away. Rosemarie's folks... in their 80s...arrived by train Saturday, will catch a noon train back to Hamilton tomorrow. Our 1st (and so far only) grandchild, 10 months old, entertained with his almost crawling routine. Weather was perfect, mid 60s and sunny. And full bellies all around. Can it get any better???
  9. Busa..... So the turkey in your pic was a roaring success I see!
  10. In the course of getting old (will be 62 in a week) and crotchety I have somehow developed a severe aversion to the aroma of cooking turkey, to the point that it nauseates me. Love to eat it still though, just can't handle the smell of it cooking. So, for years now, we cook them out on the back porch in a portable electric oven. We will be feeding 20+ at lunch tomorrow...7 kids, some with spouses, inlaws, and assorted other freeloaders. So 1 stuffed Butterball cooked overnight last night, another cooking as I write. The spuds will get peeled, turnips diced, pies cooked at our leisure today. Makes tomorrow lunch a little more relaxed with a bit of advanced planning.
  11. Curiosity question.... How many on here are enjoying the Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend? I know I know...lots of turkeys here! There seems to be a large number of Canadians on this forum but how big of a percentage are we? Happy Thanksgiving!
  12. But the one that gets dropped off with the Seven gets more cool points!
  13. Croc No doubt the politicos missed even the reruns... Tough to see much with your head up your A$$!
  14. The FIA has now blocked all video of this incident, citing copyright infringement as the fine print of the tickets to the event states clearly. Rebroadcast of any video or photo is forbidden.
  15. I think you will find the Weale book quite helpful, it's been considered the "bible" for these Lotus beasties since it was first printed. As for being alone here, not quite! Actual Lotus owners are in the minority though, the bulk of the group driving clones of one type or another.
  16. Close enough... MA is MA, no matter how you misspell it!
  17. Hey: Enough of the fat jokes. Your giving me a complex 'cause I have to use a large shoehorn to wedge into our Caterham..... Good thing I use LOTS of sunblock, the grease makes it almost possible!
  18. Thanks for easing my mind somewhat xcarguy. It 's tough to get open, honest feedback...reviews have to be taken with a large dose of salt unless you know the person posting them. I am not too concerned about dimming at this point as the egt and boost gauges will not be mounted in a distracting location. Different story if I go ahead with a new gauge cluster behind the steering wheel so will keep your experience in mind. Thanks again for your input. Most appreciated!
  19. The Dakota stuff looks interesting but me thinks I am too old school for digital. Glancing at the relative position of a conspicuous needle seems easier for these old eyes than trying to read numbers. Spent some time perusing Autometer's offerings. Their Ultralite 2 series caught my eye being LED backlit. Picked up a boost gauge and egt to try so will see how they work. They will be stand alone mounted away from the main cluster so if I am not thrilled with their operation I can use something else.

Does it have a particular destination/purpose? One of my sons has raced a Radical that is 'busa powered. Awesome to hear it run in anger, the wail of the exhaust as he runs up and down the gearbox sends shivers....not sure if it is because it's my son (who I had watched climb through shifter karts with his brother) or 'cause I have always been such a race nut. Doesn't matter realy, the feel is the same for either reason, and it always brings smile.
  21. Thanks Mondo...will check them out!
  22. I am considering replacing the oem instruments in my motorhome. I do realize this will entail a new dash panel of some type... I am seeking input from the group about the pros and cons of various instrument manufacturers, the good and bad of your experience with gauges in our cars. The old standby for years was Stewart Warner but am not current on their or anyone else's reputation these days. I will likely go mechanical for oil pressure and water temp. The present speedo is already electronic so have a sender. Not sure what to do about a tach as there is no mechanical nor electronic output on the older 5.9 Cummins diesel. For the record the vehicle is a '93 GMC Topkick. The cab/dash is basically the same as a Chev/GMC pickup truck.
  23. I didn't see it mentioned but wonder which side the driver sits on.... RHD would be real treat on this side of the pond. And some here question rhd on a 7....
  24. Might I suggest snapping a picture of the label for future use? How did we survive before phones with buit-in digital cameras? Makes so many re-assembly jobs so much easier when that "quick" job turned into weeks and our memory turned to mush....
