We have a confirmed reservation at the Doubletree host hotel that we will not be able to use. Not sure but I believe it could be transferred if someone is in need. I hate it when life gets in the way of good times.....:banghead: Paul

Guess we hit it "just right". No traffic, saw about 4 other vehicles, none that slowed or otherwise affected our tour. We were there mid week, mid morning. As they say...I would rather be lucky than good! Sure was a hoot, wear the shirt often...lots of questions every time.

While driving our new-to-us 1995 BMW 325IC home from Florida a few years ago we took the opportunity to take roads we had previously been unable to travel with a motorhome and race trailer in tow. We hit the Tail of the Dragon, then all of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. An unbelievable experience, absolute must-do for any car enthusiast. Would it have been more fun in a Seven? Some elements yes, but having the ability to put the top up quickly when it rained, turn on the a/c when the temps hit '95, were certainly welcome. Bottom line....have fun! The Tail is something you have to experience

Skip's info begs the question... Are Zetecs of the interference variety?

He pulls it over his head like a T-shirt...seems like a similar fit when he wears it!

You are soooo right...tough to explain that to some thick-headed know-it-all. I bet some would try to claim the video was an internet hoax! Very educational... Thanks for sharing!

Was that a preposition or proposition????

Well this isn't the maiden run I had planned but just could not get enough done to make it to NJMP. Hopefull will have all the bugs out for next year, and maybe have the Cat on the road too. The Hawk is one of those events that has been on my bucket list for a while now. A short notice trip to Minneapolis to watch our 22 yr old daughter playing in a power wheelchair hockey tournament 2 days after the event at R/A just let everything fall into place. Now...if the motorhome works the way we planned it should be a fun trip!

Anyone heading to Brian Redman's The Hawk event next weekend? We are heading out tonight on the maiden voyage of our Topkick based motorhome project, will be parked in the reserved motorhome trackside area opposite the paddock below the bridge. Would be happy to meet any of the group. Look for a bright yellow cab, white box with a bunk over the windshield, Ontario plates. Should be a fun weekend... Can Am cars, classic F1, and a reunion of the Bill Thomas Cheetahs.

Ok ok...enough already! I was already miffed that I had not got the motorhome project complete enough to make it to this event. But you guys are just adding insult to injury when I read of the fun we missed. Perhaps by next year I can have the Caterham on the road as well...assuming this repeats, and Rosemarie lets me drive HER Cat! Seriously...glad to hear most had a good time!

Tried to send a followup pm to me email of yesterday but not sure how successful either were...pm bounced back saying there was a connection problem. Please call if they didn't get through... Paul 613-330-4862 -
Midland huh? Maybe you should hit up Jim Hall to use his shop at Rattlesnake Raceway...now that his Chaparral cars have a permanent home in the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum the shop may be sitting idle. And in case you haven't been there, the museum is most certainly worth at least a morning. Once a month they run one of the cars around the entry drive late in the day on a Saturday, sometimes with Hall himself doing the piloting.

Forgot to mention... Craig is often on here, and is a great source of info on sevens. He often knows of cars coming available.

We bought a basketcase mid 70s Caterham from Craig Chima in Ohio 2 yrs ago. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way too often and it is still in the same shape as when we brought it home. We had no issues importing it into Ontario, showed the bill of sale, paid the gst and out the dopr we went. They never even opened the trailer door. My preliminary leg work suggests the Ontario registration should go as easily due to it being over 15 yrs old. The car is a very early short cockpit version, rhd, live axle. I have spent quite a few miles behind the wheel of a similarly equipped original '62 S2 version. My initial reservations about rhd quickly disappeared within 100 miles, the smiles and pointing from onlookers, and my own euphoria quickly set my mind at ease. Hopefully my schedule will ease enough soon to get at it! At least she-who-must-be-obeyed is as anxious to get it on the road so she is not what holds me back.

If it's the car I think it is then I am familiar with it from my time crewing for a buddy racing with VARAC in Ontario. Was looking for a pic to confirm. Was a very well prepped/maintained car, super competitive.

Not just you Croc. Glad you asked though, thought it was my not-so-smart Samsung phone acting up again!

Pretty spiffy!

Rolled the beast out of the shop finally. Now only need to finish some interior items and get the vinyl wrap done so I can can get back to all things Lotus and Caterham.......

Depends which vehicle we are in.... My '92 Dodge Ramcharger 4 x 4 does about 20 mpg on the highway with the cruise at 65 mph. That leaves looking for fuel around 600 miles....34 gal tank. Our '95 BMW 325 IC is a bit easier on bladder control, about 400 miles with the 18 (I think) gal tank. It won't be fuel necessitating stops once the motorhome is complete.... 125 gal Freightliner tank. Assuming we get close to the predicted 20 mpg with our Cummins motor that's north of 2000 miles between fuel stops. Of course having a bathroom on board for Rosemarie means it will likely be my but cheeks screaming for mercy, even with the air ride seats, or meal stops.

Come on AndyB, it's only a few thousand miles...where's your sense of adventure??? For the enlightenment of our American friends here, from where Andy is it is a full 24 hr drive just to get out of Ontario. Then he would still have Manitoba and Saskatchewan to cross, plus most of Alberta. A buddy from Dallas drove his motorhome up for a visit a few years ago, came up through the midwest and crossed into Ontario west of lake superior. He was shocked at how big Ontario was..."it didn't look that far on the map!"

What...you think you can get away with sending them off to the beach and leave you behind to commit to buying more go fast bits? Yours must be a lot more easy-going than mine. First off, she would be afraid she might miss something. Second, she is not a beach kinda gal at the best of times, let alone when there are fun things to watch or be a part of at the track. I think I created a monster when I took her along to watch my 2 sons race their shiftrr karts at Summit Point and Barber on consecutive weekends. She had never been to a race of any kind previously so got kind of spoiled seeing both boys running up front and winning. Throw in the Rolex cars that were the big stars at Barber that weekend (the karts had a 30 minute race at noon on Sunday) and she is now a race fan. One of those "be careful what you wish for" things. Guess I'll keep her!
