  1. I'm not sure Run'n'Gun needs to be the national meet. aside from Jerry's assertation that u will spend most of ur time driving ur car its an event that does not really need group planning to start. Its already well subsribed by a number se7en owners. Growing number from what I remember of this year's write ups. so anyone can plan to be there adn it will still be a se7en meet. there's still plenty of time fore everyone to voice there opinions. With a firm date and destination attendees can start making plans for drives, events, and lodging.
  2. may as well go thru the punch list myself the same list can be used at any National Event for use on such days!
  3. just read teh caterham Life blurb and about half of the blatchat thread. what a sod. also a stark difference to what the market is here and when u have homefield advantage. ur pic has made across the ocean.
  4. i like it. 19s in front a 13s in the rear! Is teh floor lowered as well or were u using midgets as crash test dummies for UltraFranken7?
  5. its not that ford is undertuning our setup. Ford never tuned for our setup. they tuned for the intake and paper filter, a tranverse drivetrain, and at least a different catalytic converter, if not 2, plus a muffler and resonater. thats nothing what caterham drivetrain looks like, and i have a mild setup. Snake Bit is louder than many cars on the road, but se7en owners question whether the engine is actually running! I think someone actually dyno'd a zx1 or 2 zetec setup as it comes from CatUSA and it barely broke 100rwhp on a manufacturers rating of 147chp. with a less restrictive exhaust like we have and a more efficient drivetrain we should be seeing more power to the wheels than a focus or contour stock, not less. So i think there is some fuel mapping to be revamped, and once the Air Intake Temperature situation can be straightened out, I think much power can be reclaimed. how much? 20+ peak rwhp on the conservative side. possibly manufacturer's crank claim at the wheels from a good tuner. thats without playing with the valve size, crank duration, or porting. or a better flywheel. unfortunately i only plan to go as far as intake in the next year, and EM the year following.
  6. i hope to attempt to build a new air intake path for my zetec this winter Mike. same setup as yours, zetec with stock air plenum and accordian hose to the rear with stock ECU. I wish to make it similar to dave w's. I will take the shape of the lopsided piece that sites on the throttle plate and have some sort of tube that comes forward and takes air from above teh radiator. i will end up putting a spliter on teh top of eeh radiator with a edge that stick forward a few inches to make sure the air is divererted and then get moved to an air box housing the cone filter. the air box's shape will shrink towards its rear. i eventually hope to have a nose cone thats setup like the CSR that will allow air to be diverted from right after the radiator to leave above the car instead of underneath or get trapped in the hot engine bay. the biggest pickup in power is just getting the better ECU in there and tuned.
  7. "I must admit that due to PennDOT's lack of pointer cone use, I have gone Off Course a few times." from the Philly SCCA forum "... Due to the exhaust fumes, I really don't recall much of that run. The power/noise ratio of the car needs to be adjusted. " Rich W.; Idacross forums
  8. smooth sailing 'ere!:bs: :jester:
  9. yeah, u need to have it tie into ratcheting device so it makes sounds. that would definintely start to get people scared at the paddock.
  10. i've had that Arcan XL35 jack. its worth getting that Cobra to have another
  11. D/E mod have rules stipulating that the overal outline/silloette of the vehicle can not changed. Mike D and Tom can do a better job of describing it. and the use of spoilers/certain aero aids.:banghead:
  12. perfect, so u need something to fill up the leisure time.
  13. what was my advice, i forgot. if the price is right, it a no brainer. it'll see more asphalt than the 7 and u'll enjoy it. are u driving the 7 to work? the 911 u can!
  14. cool but won't fly for SCCA autoX. wonder if its OK for club racing?
  15. throw motec into the list of EXPENSIVE.
  16. fly in and rent a van. done. a road trip with se7eners may have to have an additional time frame built into it. "dude thats a pretty sweet track. u ever drive on that?" "no" "we got some time, u sure u want to drive right by that and experience it?" "ummm...nope!" "ok, sooooo we're gonna use the rental econoline or should we find another car?" "....BOTH" next thing u know there's a Bright yellow Uhaul and an 8 month old hyundai accent or Mercury grand marquis with 30,000 miles and no oil changes waiting in grid ready to go.
  17. ur nuts. oh wait, its me talking:lol:
  18. and 5th and 6th latch or clip on the body to the bonnet. u could even put a latch on the nose or scuttle to the hood.
  19. just in time to get ready for SB100 too!
  20. while that is true, BP has basically gone bye bye, and GP is seeing diminishing numbers, possibly soon to where it can't hold its own field. while last years Solo Nationals news was the D/E mod protests, the big news out of Topeka was one of the BoDs mouthing off to a high MazdaSpeed rep. larger discussion i guess since its the offseason lots of discussions have been started with the idle time, and with membership only and insulting the mazda brass A LOT of people are questioning what National is up to.
  21. yah, could u do a small stand up or magic routine? even a snow globe...
  22. spoke to cousins last week at a family get together about 2009. i'm set for Indiana and So Cal
  23. reread most of the SCCA autoX regs last night(marker sizing). XP has a 2000#+ displacement muliplier minimum. GP would work, so can anyone figure out why we're not there?
  24. my fronts looked like teh right tyre when i got bck from TotD. both insides scrubbed to the wear bar. i thought it was really bad camber, but when i had the car align in september it was in spec. slightly more than your values. if it tracks straight on a non canted road, ur thrust angle/cross toe is fine. if u look at any of my pictures it looks like my fronts run ~4-6 degree of camber but its just slighly more than 1 degree. rotate ur tyres more frequently and be prepared to have them swapped sides every other year or so to maximize their lifetime.
  25. awesome:cheers:
