So i'll be the one w/o the Caterham this event.
-
i'll have to see the undercar portion of the RWIB to see how that works. can't really see how it would function from teh picture i linked.
-
would it be cheaper to pick it up from Mid-Atlantic caterham? Customs will have a field day.
-
1. ya don't drive ur car enough! 2. a season of AutoX is cheaper than ur new wheels.

Both CAterham rollbars ae pitched forward. the FIA bar more so. One reason it is far far down on my list of mods is because my half hood(s) will no longer fit correctly. That will have a huge consideration on what actually happens. The standard bar has shown itself to be durable enough if a 7 landed wrongside up. I can not stress my opinion of starting ur mod process and not actually be prepared for what the changes are. and yes, i will be bringing this up in conversation on sunday. practice ur glazed eyes expressions:crazy: :ack: the FIA bar is required competitive motorsports and by the MOST stringent tech inspectors. What i do like about the more common FIA bars is that they are taller. and that is VERY important with driver who are taller than you and I. for instance Spencer going passenger earlier in the year http://www.steguisfoto.com/albums/Motorsports/NYR-Autox-5-13-2007/IMG_9484_Fixed.jpg if teh bar was taller and canted so that the JJ half hoods still fit, it would b a no brainer. I'd prefer teh double diagonal as there "may" be flexing and distotion upon impact (flip). of course the load would have been so great that u'd be dead anyway. I do like the idea of teh petty strut going into the passenger if not going with a cage of some sorts. and for Homologation teh FIA bar will need to have a hole for tech inspection showing its piping thickness. as for the picture i grabbed while surfing blatchat showing the Rear Wing Intrusion Bar and Side Impact Bars, that would be sort of what I would find worthwhile on a non track only car. i beleive that are bolt on units, i'm not sure so if anyone knows, please confirm or correct this hepfully the PNW attendees will be able to add their track input and previous setups once they get home and get caught up. I would want the SIB to possibly be a bit higher, possibly meeting the top of the FIA bar so tehre is better cockpit protection in a flip/rollover. the RWIB i beleive is mostly for cone protection. for all my goals, i should probably actually talk to a cage builder about what could be fabbed, and what could be bolted in.

anyone gone any further with any of the setups? i found a few items, some i'm quite interetsed in. I'd like to find out what Evolution School is using. before making a sizable purchase. http://www.trackpedia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2490 http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?p=2767518#post2767518

dynojets are supposed to give decent numbers. Mustang dynos tend to be known as heartbreakers for reading low. Wonder what (if any) correction factors were used? if its an AWD setup he has, find out what what he dynos stock 01-04 WRXs (185-190 awhp) and 04-06 STIs (220-230 awhp) and it can tell u how it reads.

u say right price but u have never mentioned a starting dollar amount. a $15k se7en may be a beat up caterham or Lotus or a exception Locost. Al's advice of finding the members in your vicinity will allow u to make ur most informative decision.

following up on Rob Mitchell's seconding of the canadian maritimes for a trip. yeah, i know, USA7s. here are the dates for Targa Newfoundland over the next several years "FUTURE TARGA NEWFOUNDLAND DATES • 2007: September 8th - September 15th • 2008: September 13th - September 20th • 2009: September 12th - September 19th • 2010: September 11th - September 18th • 2011: September 10th - September 17th" the dates do sort of play havok with families as they coincide with schools just entering the new year. I would not be sure if i would drive as it would 2 16hr day drives from NY. probably ship the car and fly in (2 1/2 hrs non-stop). then again i'm cheap and crazy. TNF is expensive to enter though, for those considering that route.

"This event takes place in parking field #4 at Robert Moses State Park. Pre-registration $10 per car - day of event registration $15 per car Admission is $5 per person - children under 12 are free. Food is available at the concession. Date: Sunday, September 23, 2007 10 AM - 3 PM " those not familiar, sunday morning the barrier island turns into a giant unorganized car and bike show. anything and everything shows up to Oak Beach and is spectacle to see. probably 500+ cars and bikes will pass thru. the show is on a smaller scale, but is MUCH less chaotic. Hoepfully Atwell will make it out this year.
