  1. caffiene much mazda? slightly off average times. wonder if i'd do better with the mouse at work instead of the trackpad on my notebook.
  2. yeah, with lower power and larger diameter wheels i think i'll run 9" (225) in the rear and 8" (205) in the fornt and see if that limits my spins from oversteer. i seem to have had another spin due to understeer on sunday. I think the R comps will cover some off those faults. especially as the get traction again after getting loose. i think with too wide a front tyre it will make steering heavier that it needs to be with the lower power.
  3. I don't want ot look at the S1. its too GORGEOUS:cool: Tom, u running slicks of equal width F/R?
  4. i heard that a-holes laffing from inside my Z when i spun that time. he made a deal with the devil. j/k. :bs:
  5. huh? everyone who I spoken with considers canadian women to be much more relaxed (less irritating) than american women. i guess the grass is green er on the other side.
  6. whadyawant me to say about VWs? Smelly hippies?
  7. 1-2" minor curbage. nothing that would not happen eventually. easily covered by brake dust. nabbed 1st in class (non marque -4 cyl - street tyre) at todays BMWCCA event. 5 secs off FTD, borrowed M3 on r comps by this years Rev It Up champion. spun the last 2 runs trying new ideas from an instructor, but did well enough in the morning heat. got 2 secs faster each run. pretty please with this season. maybe a Porsche Club next sunday at the beach to finish off the season seems like a pretty good idea. then a couple of weekends of illegal soapbox derbies in joisey for laffs. I found out today that one of the local usual suspects (Z3 ins ASP form) is building a Locost BMC se7en. he's going on 2+ years after someone else already gave up on it. sounds like a diaster and a half at the moment. i still can't shake the idea that i need R comps. granted it will cover a bunch faults, but I wanna be Ricky Bobby!
  8. fahrfenugen!
  9. solid fiberglass top should not be difficult to make. the biggest hurdle is raising the gorund clearance and getting the suspension back in spec.
  10. 1st day of autoX down. constant rain all morning and was a deluge at the awards ceremony. Started to dry out in the 3rd and 4th heats. started to rain just before my last (6th) run. times dropped in 1st heat then FTD 54.X sec GS Mini in the wet to 3rd geat 51.x FTD for a Pro Solo ES mkII MR2. i ran right around 60+1 1 secon on my runs in teh 2nd heat. i was able to drop 3 secs on my 1st run in the 4th heat when the surface was dry. spun 2x on the next run, and a 58 on my last run. spun in the lot putting some curbage on my front wheel. DOH! should be awesome weather tomorrow across the east for some nice times.
  11. http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/521/xlogomodernekq4.jpg Jeaned, now where did this come from? I think we need to modify it for a possible USA7s banner. edit: another interested watch buyer here
  12. i coulda drove down:jester:
  13. u mean the diversions are Ferraris and Asston Martins.
  14. looks like i'll be running in the wet. dunno whether i'll be using the full hood or half hood. if everyone shows up and uses r comps this should be interesting. al, thats sounds awesome for Orange. But can u stand the separation?
  15. ya, seriously.
  16. hey hey, A,D,E, and F modified have competitors for saturdays NYR autoX. I'm pretty stoked for the long weekend. promotional exam friday AM and 2 end of season AutoXs over the weekend.

  20. ebay auction for the spare tire mount setup.
  21. And Mazda calls me INSANE:lol:
  22. I was gonna lay off this time and hassle u next year after u still had not improved the nut behind the wheel. Tom and I had PM'd each other about getting u a personal instructor for the day to see if that can give u better grasp of the day on course. Tom beleived my choice would not even fit in Orange, so i'll have to have him co-drive Snake Bit next year. Tom's too overprotective of his 7. i think last event was the first time he let someone else drive on course IIRC. I on the otherhand will basically throw the keys at anyone i beleive competent. My car gets whored out way too much back on topic, Caterham coilovers are about a 50* angle with the ground. i'm on stockers and they are valve and sprung nicely for my local crappy roads. I persoanlly expect to be on 205 front, 225 rear width for 130-145 hp. above that power i'd consider going wider a bit. as for a tyre warmer, just buy a bat of 16" or wider fiberglass batt insulation and use that for the time being.
  23. :willy: going sideways thru the timing equipment builds heat quite quickly:lol:
  24. Pics up later this week. one of the mods that arrived just after ToTD. minor issue of losing the function of the passenger side combination light on the rear after the install. but after dinner all was working A-OK. neener neener neener Contents: 1 Hella 3rd brake light package w/ gray wires 1 Caterham 3rd brake light bracket (black), pre-cut double sided tape, and thicker threaded spare wheel mount & nut(?). 1 Caterham light harness Y splitter 1 caterham misc package. spade clips, shrink wrap, zip ties, rivet, etc. For Caterhams with rear exit exhaust on driver's side. if side exit, consider using side that does not have fuel pump! 1. Mount 3rd brake light bracket. remove spare wheel. unbolt spare wheel mount and install new mount. If no spare wheel, make hole into boot thru rear panel. 1a. jack rear of car up. look at area next to gas tank for oem brake light harness to rear passenger brake light. try to fit hand in this area next to fuel pump to release light harness. Curse Caterham. regret not having installed when car was built and lacked fuel tank. 1b. look at supplied instructions. wonder who u know who spreken ze deutche! Curse Caterham. 2. open Hella light, attach gray wires to metal tabs. thread wires thru bottom of light. close light. 3. clean top of light bracket. undo bottom of tape. attach to bracket. undo top of tape. attach light threading wire thru hole. 4. thread wire thru one of the hollow uprights of the bracket. 5. attach Y harness to body section from 1a. try to attach other side of harness to rear passenger light harness. 6. route wiring from 3rd brake light to bottom of car. figure out approximate length of wire to meet female spade clips on Y harness. cut grey wire. slide weather boots over wire, crimp/solder male spade clips to gray wires. attach to female clips. shrink wrap wrap where appropriate. 7. test brake lights and turn signal/hazard signals(combination light).
