lot of awesome points in your post dave. thanks, and site looks great. What is being built in SCCA D mod as dedicated autoX cars far exceeds what caterham has as we consider "factor spec" in all but the r400,500, and CSR. and those who go FI have to take weight penalties and go into E mod. there was a HUGE thread herein the beginning of the autoX section, primarily about last years protest. i looked thru the pure Prepared classes and we can't really get into there because of the minum weights either. so we just have to go and enjoy the cars as is. oh yeah, gunning 3rd gear will not be SCCA Solo course. it'd be fun tho.

franken7 would be destined for BBQs across the land as a mobile grill and oven. possibly could even flash fry a turkey for thanksgiving.

yeah, i remember just after gradumatating from high skool was when aerosmith's Crazy video came out with her and Liv Tyler in it. I was about ready to call out across teh room here at work to find out if a coworker remembered when it came out, but he was in elementary school i believe.

Forget about engine or head swaps...what about driver swaps?
Boxologist replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
i was going to let Mazda drive my 7 but there was no point after he gave me a lift. he'd look at me ago," there's something wrong with ur right pedal, its like not hooked up or something." and i'd say, "no, its slow." to anyone who wants to see there cars driven the way there suposed to be, just find a regular national or pro solo driver who instructs at ur local autoX and let them co-drive. Its humbling for most of us. i'm considering offering one the chance to co-drive next season for some serious instruction. those (us novices) who saw what the 2nd run group at 7-7-07 was doing don't understand till we sit shotgun in our car and realize its not going to break. -
for a subaru, Summer: bridgestone potenza 050a pole position, a friend just got them in 225 45 17, a like them a great deal better thean the s03 they replaced. a little softer sidewall, and a whole lot quieter. I will get them when i need to replace my falken Ziexs on my wagon for my summer tyres. i also have the 040 on loan to another friend, he is not fond of them, probably because they are a 215 when he is used to a 235. they are pretty good, but now there is better. the toyo proxes 4 are getting good reviews. the continental sport contact has been an excellent budget choice for the last 2-3 years. teh michelin/bf goodrich KDW2 is also really good. the stock bridgerocks will be good for a an easy winter if u don't driver aggressively in the snow. otherwise i use the Nokians. The WR willbe better suited to a Va winter, the RSi is a more inclement weather designed tread. lots a siping. makes me want to find some snow thinking about it. mmmmm mmmmm:party:

after a 7 all views are jaundiced. joy of havng no power steering and no weight to make it an issue. power steering does eliminate most of the feel. also consider hoe much front castor u can have , that greatly influences how turn in is. Also, we have minimal body roll with the low center of gravity of a 7. even u mada!

thankfully my Lucas wiper system hasnt manifested itself yetttttt.

I wasted 20 minutes searchng and going thru rob's posts. i thought he installed that chrome switch on a steering wheel, but i may be wrong. http://www.rallylights.com/hella/intermittent_wiper_control_switches.asp my mitzvah for the year. maybe i'm cool now to go autoX on yom kippur with the local bmw club:banghead:  mazda, feel free to merge this if anyone remembers exactly where that wiper dodad thread was.

thanks, and details details details!:_deadhorse: best was 56.7, followed by 58.7 running cautiously. spun 4 of 6 runs. 1 was actually going super well. course was set as tick under 50 sec as fastest and about 58-60 as average of non well setup/ good driver car. the good run where i pooched it i was running awesome. driving ahead of teh course, braking well, geting some sideways on teh pin cones but able to control it. near the end right before the final pin cone i spin. would have been a high 52 sec run but turned into 59+ off course as I got disorientated. odd i should be used to it. i even joke that thats how i heat my tyres up! wheels are great. wish i got center caps. Tyres are the bridgestone re-01r and really good. really good. a WIDE 195. allignment was really wonky now. one from not only > 6 degrees front camber, minimal rear camber, to > 5 degrees front toe out. very unstable. turns very quickly, but i need this sorted badly. left message w/ Cody at Cat USA and with a allignment place that a lot of NNJ autoXers use who even knows about using shims. new fuel pump is in changed plus again and wires to get it running reliably. going on a 3rd month w/o speedometer, but have only had the car for a total of 2+ weeks since being back from TotD. NOW SOMEONE ON ANOTHER FORUM IS TELLING ME A BMW NEARLY RAN ME OVER?!?! i'll eventually have threads up of all the goodies that arrived after TotD that were suposed to be here before leaving

Difference between street tires and slicks
Boxologist replied to yellowss7's topic in General Sevens Discussion
nearly all R Comps will have some sort of tread. most will get shaved. a few tyres are tread free. but an R comp will wear faster, and as Tom has learned, instill a confidence at taking the 7 to a farther limit. Not an ideal or responsible situation when sharing the road with tin tops. -
Gorgeous day for "racing". Blue skys with the occasional cloud. temps in the mid 60s by lunchtime. huge field for the day, 106 entrants, many looking that little extra seat time before topeka. Don't know why they would run on this surface though:crazy: :boxing: only 6 runs because of fear how large the fear was and the course twisting back aiming cars at each other if not spaced correctly. but we still finished by 3pm!??! and a new camera mount location. really knocked out the oscilation from using just the solid mount :hurray: http://lh4.google.com/drivenbabs/Ru3KMwYThmI/AAAAAAAAA1g/TXnnwSV8M1A/DSC_0251.JPG?imgmax=576 http://lh6.google.com/drivenbabs/Ru3KNQYThnI/AAAAAAAAA1o/pZy7oedhD0Y/DSC_0252.JPG?imgmax=576 http://lh3.google.com/drivenbabs/Ru3KNgYThoI/AAAAAAAAA1w/A7E5568-f88/DSC_0253.JPG?imgmax=576 http://lh4.google.com/drivenbabs/Ru3KNwYThpI/AAAAAAAAA14/dpL3Cg65HI4/DSC_0254.JPG?imgmax=576 http://lh6.google.com/drivenbabs/Ru3JlQYTf4I/AAAAAAAAAnc/x_UGdSlu-mo/DSC_0136.JPG?imgmax=576 looks like 3 more events this season, but rumors floating about another 2 to be added including a trial event at a 3rd site. edit: my codriver from the last BMW event who took FTD. http://lh4.google.com/drivenbabs/Ru3I8wYTeHI/AAAAAAAAAZE/fEAuSm8z5Ew/DSC_0001.JPG?imgmax=576

Boxologist replied to 11Budlite's topic in General Sevens Discussion
http://www.dmv.org/ct-connecticut/custom-built-cars.php i searched thru the Ct auto code and olny found 2 mentions of "bumper". one in relation to the exhaust and the other with regards to chop shops. so yes, u will definitely need a live body for advice. once u have that person, get their name and when theya re working. ur gona want to send them something nice after the birkin is on the road. -
