  1. Hope this doesn't digress too much. I have, supposedly out of a Forester, a 3.90 viscous LSD, which is just fine and seems to be a good ratio for the tracks I drive. Two questions: do all the r160 diffs use the same output drive shaft splines? and has anyone installed a Quaife, Torsen or Cusco LSD center section in an r160. I plan on get another open 3.90 and install one of the above. thanks mike
  2. could be the Lotus 7 America, this is the first page of a Road and Track test from 1961. I rode in one when I was 12 and finally got one, at least a reasonable facsimile.
  3. I had thought about a heavier guage metal, this is 1/8, but wanted to keep the"add lightness" moto, and all of the stress is comming laterally against a 2 1/2 cross section. I'm glad this may have helped some, nothing like brain storming and paradigms to get a problem solved.
  4. I figured that even if it has only happened to one of our flock I would be next, so I layed under there for a while and came up with this solution for me. It gives support where it is needed and was quite simple to make. Hope this wil help someone else.
  5. I should have said, new to me, but with only 2 events on it it is like new with all the nice goodies us slow riders like, and it was under 8k as Don stated. Don , in 99 I was still riding advanced, now senior advanced and intermediate, which ever my body allows, and have been riding with cota and the pnta since 1971, really enjoy the sport as I now enjoy the 7 experience.
  6. Don, welcome here. I have gotten so much help on this site and even while lurking mostly it seems like you come to know most of the folks here. and for you and Russ I just purchased a new tool to keep the young'uns at bay for awhile, a new Sherco Cabestany Replica, it's lighter than my 2.9 so I can lift it off me after I've fallen without using the little button around my neck to call the parameds. happy blating mike
  7. A Caterham concept that is left hand drive???? from the full set of photos on flicker.
  8. Just couldn't help thinking that, with the flair over the scuttle and the brooklands, this is what Brian Anderson thought to combine the vintage with the new and bring the Ultralite into existence. I have only seen several pictures of this model and really nothing in print.
  9. Hi Mike, haven't heard from you in awhile. a new guy to oregon has his caterham standard interior for sale and maybe it would fit yours with minor mods and save some money, he is on this forum as Idreamofchapman.

  10. Hello, in the middle '70's I put 40 dcoe's on my toyota 20r, and am still driving everyday with 597,000 miles, same carbs several rebuilds on the engines, and remember having teething problems about the same as yours. I got to experimenting with the emulsion tubes and looking at the position of the orifices and just thinking of how the fuel flowed, be one with the flow, and tried the F2 variety, even though everyone said they were for alcohol they worked perfect, no stumble you can mash the throttle in 4th at 1200 rpm and it will pull clean. just my experience mike
  11. Hello, the one on mine is an AirTex/E7052 125psi.
  12. or use one of these, just don't get too close to your septic system. [/url]
  13. again, thanks for the feedback. Jerry, it looks like we have the same build exhaust and "door" frame. On Mondos it is a little shorter but more parallel to the ground as is mine, but he has a heat shield and maybe the air flowing between the muff and the shield creates a faster air stream and.........think I'll go get another beer, been doing hay all day and it was definitely a Murphys rule day, broke tines on the tedder, blew the hyd line on my mower and worst of all the ess switch on my Dodge went out so the A/c didn't work, 94 here today. Later everyone have a fun and safe 4th mike
  14. thanks, that would probably get the exhaust out into the air stream better.
  15. thankyou for your responses, maybe it will upload for me now.
  16. Just wondering if anyone has been able to change the air flow with deflectors or extensions on the standard Ultralite side exhaust, as pictured, to keep the fumes from overcoming the passenger? thanks
  17. I used this product a while back and had good luck. http://www.mico.com/products/brake-actuation/brake-locks/lever-lock
  18. might as well post one more version, it is tapered both fore and aft just incase, with access and drain holes, made of mild steel to add to the low center of gravity(ballast) and yes you could use it as a jacking point, took a hit from a rock up on the mountain, actually felt the car raise, and no damage to anything.
  19. Hello, I use my hay equipment trailer, 22ft tilt, to haul my car, makes loading a breeze. I always put on my full length full width mudflaps that attach to the receiver hitch and stop any stones or spray from hitting the car, they work great when I'm pulling the horse trailer too, no mud stripes up the front of the trailer.
  20. Hi Scott, my snaps are anchored with ss pop rivets below the top boot tube and have not had any trouble with them so far. Thanks for the kind comments, although when this pic was taken it only had 25 miles on it, but even with close to 5000 it still looks almost as good. I use a product called Dri wash'n guard for every thing. There are more pics of the car and some of the things I've made for it in the pics and album section of this site.
  21. Here's a pic of mine, just regular snaps purchased from Grainger, has been working just fine.
  22. he may have had the Corvette, but he really wanted a Cobra, from the Cobra insignia that is on the left side of the glove box.
  23. and then if you ahere the the "add lightness" theory, you have this. http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQrN-_u_G87v3QmvxSuPLON3RdWtO87pnDxRZPWZM0KB97C0nq3rg
  24. Not quite as much snow as sunny California but we had a dusting and 33 degrees and sunshine, just went out to see some friends, no one wanted to take a spin, just not 7 people.
