  1. Disclaimer; " I am a heathen" With that said i respect "christian values" and where from or who created in of no concern if you just practice them. My personal guide line is " be considerate of others" that simple. Yes organized religion is responsible for many wrongs but so is nearly any organized group. Those who do not respond to peer pressure can claim responsibility for their own actions. It is my opinion that the effect good or bad upon the world resulting from various religions is neutral. bad-good=zero effect.
  2. Buy in Denver!! Superformance gives no support for the S1 so one can expect the same here. Many S1 parts are of unknown origin or special made and unobtainable at any reasonable cost, for example my S1 will soon look more like the rest when it needs a new wind screen (easier to build a new frame that houses flat glass that is easily replaced) Buy your car from those who have a history of support for those already sold. john
  3. Run as fast as you can!! It is way over value now. A flood car is only good for parts and then you have to dissemble them down to basic parts and wash the silt off and the treat the rust before use. the frame would be the same all of the interior needs to be treated. These things (flood damage) come back as night mares.
  4. Webers and dellortos are fairly straight forward. Get a book, (follow the directions),, and when done buy or borrow a wide band a/f meter and use it to determine what to or not to change. Modern wide bands make jetting much more of a science than reading plugs. They are costly but dam well worth it. Tip; float level and fuel pressure are the most critical items with either. Add fuel cleanliness to that list. good luck
  5. there a lot of Triton aluminum snowmobile trailers for sale in snow country and at what seems to me as a reasonable price, the quality is good, biggest problem is the small tires used in order to get a flat deck, but they also make a lower narrower deck with wheels outside the deck under fenders, just harder to find used and I am looking for one who's expected lifespan sort of matches mine. And in Utah under 750lbs empty requires no registration nor title.
  6. A couple of summers ago i was given a few laps around the Grand Junction,Co go-kart track (short track?) in one of Flying Miata's LS powered Miatas and there is no way that my S1 could ave stayed with it even with the same driver. hp/kg rules even on short tracks. With that said would still rather have the S1 and a stock Miata for longer trips. nuff power.
  7. If you vote you vote for the wrong people. It has always amazed me that not one of Enron's management died of an unnatural cause in lieu of how many employes and investors lost all. We have the best government that money can buy.
  8. Back to trailers, have been looking at triton tilt bed snowmobile trailers, aluminum, and can be had with a tilting top that may clear a seven. http://www.tritontrailers.com/products/Model.aspx?CatID=31&SubCatID=35&ModelID=529&info=specifications http://www.tritontrailers.com/products/Model.aspx?CatID=31&SubCatID=35&ModelID=529&info=specifications
  9. BTW ow do yall like yer car?
  10. WE are a third world nation and just not swift enough to see it. The barrons are in control and just let us vote.
  11. New york/Canada population is about 4/1 so C anada has about the right number of mri machines considering that many of the MRIs in this country are just about making money. I too like others here was an union contractor and during that time our health care was self funded and we were able to negotiate charges with hospitals and doctors. The cost was still high but everyone was covered. The benefit to me was that my employees were able to spend their time worrying about my jobs and not how to pay medical bills. We were very competitive in spite or because of the higher labor cost. Now I have the very best care-- VA we all should be so well off!! Private enterprise my hinney.
  12. http://www.secondstrike.com/Technical/S1_Installation_and_Service_Manual.pdf sorry forgot about that there were two, the wiring is hard to understand but if you read between the lines it's there. lots of people think that an assembly diagram is OK guess they just do not understand a schematic. let me know if you need more help. john
  13. http://www.secondstrike.com/Technical/S1_Service_Bulletins_and_Tips.pdf this is a direct link to download the pdf file. john
  14. google-- snakebite performance, there web site has a pdf copy that you can download of--"superformance si roadster service bulletins and technical service tips" (very good info) my computer with the copy quit but have a copy on my kindle for easy use, just figured out that all this stuff needs to be on a memory stick, so am going to search and download again, will return later with the link. as to lights dont get frustrated, the mc shop is a good idea, and perhaps assemble your own with some of the led coils found on ebay. that is on my list after the heart transplant (rotary turbo) is complete. These cars are good but it is a pain being an orphan like a Yugo, and some of the components are a cheap comparison to the rest of the car. BTW the headlights are not a damm bit better (ask the black cow). My first step will be some barn burners on front.
  15. Sounds like it is not the temp. that is high but your gauge, check the thermistor (sending unit) with a digital ohm meter and compare to thermistor tables. most sensors are the same resistance so any chart should work. And ten feed your gauge a resistor in that range and see what you get. Also check your wiring connections carefully (including all ground connections} and as a last resort install an old mechanical gauge to check.
  16. forget direct replacement. why replace that that failed? Look on ebay for 12v led lights that can be mounted in your enclosure, that is what I have planed as one of mine is already heat damaged. and they can be much brighter. We own orphans but no worse than a home built and SF did do a great many tings right.
  17. Had same problem with my S-1, it's was a vw/audi of some sort, new were about 40 ea and same as the ones that had rotted away in less than 10yrs. NAPA had shock boots, made in USA that are working fine.
  18. Ditto on the fenders, have one bugered one left, ran over the other one, the mounting is very poor, as are the head lights, Very seldom take top off mine, just un-zip it part way and fold back over the center (like a T top) and wrap it with a long bungie, you are open and it is easy to get covered in rain. saves trunk for clothes, have went to town (250 miles) for a few days with plenty of clothes and a rx-7 rotary engine in the passenger seat. google S-1 and you can get the web site with the recommended upgrades, there actually are not too many unless you have a rotary engine, but remember lock-tite is your friend. Good luck, they are comfortable on long trips and prefer mine over the Miata.
  19. Most times used the-- Who is going to pay for my lost time? statement and usually some other fool got the travel for peanuts. Did work out of town for a year as a single dad and 11yr daughter went with me, it was good life experience for her. But as said here before time with your kids is forever- money is gone soon. The kids and I did many things that would get you sent to jail today but they all have a high level of self confidence because of it. Perhaps trade travel for extra time off with family.
  20. have a S1, size 13. I can drive with whatever is on my foot but it is tight, the right side of my toe box is pushed in to make room for the rotary starter making it worse. It is not fun for the feet and old school heel/toe could be real hard, worst thing is that there is no good place to rest the left foot except on the clutch pedal. Car is down for a heart transplant and may do something about that. If I had it to do all over again, would look for a wider frame possibly a stalker or a well documented locost. But have the S1 and have driven it as much as 750 miles in a day with one break so they are comfortable. 5' 11, about 175, 72 years, size 13 and slightly immature.
  21. "show me where to put it" and the Miata was bought from a cop with out a front plate mount, and 90% of cops are frustrated bullies. My s1 is a "SPV" in colorado. I just carry it.
  22. throttle position sensors are variable resistors, and will increase in resistance with heat, and some of the change can be permanent, the hotter the more so. a heat shield or heat sink where attached will help as will anything done to keep engine room cooler.
  23. Related question; What does work? the ones on my S1 were missing and I just bought a set of wilwood before reading this post. I do need a decent parking brake as the rotary is lacking in holding power on a steep grade. would lengthening the lever work? Was a lot of money for no more than they are, seems like wilwood is over rated.
  24. think that this has been mentioned here before, but I have a horrible freight motorcycle aluminum jack that is generously rated at 1500lbs but with the extensions off it will lift either end but you do need a cross pice to contact the frame rails and because rhe jack platform stays level were as the car frame tilts as it lifts, I have actually lifted the whole car in the center to put it on the roll-around but that is right at the jacks limit and you have to be careful with the f/r balance.
  25. used to be a landlord, when tenant moved out had to remodel, there is a message here for me;; rent don't buy and when a remodel is needed just call the movers. in a great many ways it is also cheaper. The purchase value of a structure always goes down in real currency (purchasing power)
