It’s been a tough decision, but this project which I’ve been working on for too many years has finally got to go to somebody who can complete it!

 

This is an Westfield 1800 Speed Sport modular build, “post office” red, started in 1998 in England, then shipped here to Arizona when I moved here about 10 years ago. The only major parts you need to buy to complete it are seats, wheels, tires, carpets and gauges; however there is a lot of the build yet to go and have fun with (I estimate it’s about 60% done).

 

I have the original receipts from Westfield for the purchase of the first 3 modules, along with various receipts for other parts bought both in the USA and Europe. It’s right-hand-drive and all new, apart from the bodywork and roll-bar which is used and from the USA. Yes, it has a heater!

 

The engine has never been started. The specifications given are: Ford Zetec 1798cc 4 Cylinder, Ford MT75 5 speed gearbox, tuned to 155bhp giving 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. Speedsport suspension package with front and rear anti-roll bars and TRAX SPAX shock absorbers.

 

Price includes Westfield modular manuals, speedsport supplement and other Westfield build documentation.

Do NOT be afraid of the RHD. I have an early RHD Birkin. I have driven a couple RHD cars before in the US. (GT-40, Postal Jeep, don't ask) Once you are rolling, it makes no difference, assuming you look ahead anyway.

 

The only disadvantage to RHD in the US has disappeared, at least in Texas. Used to be, you could not see if waiting to make a left turn with a vehicle on the opposite left turn lane. Now that is not an issue, since everyone else on the road insists on driving a Light Duty Truck as a passenger vehicle. You could be driving LHD and you still can't see to pull out safely.

 

RHD is a non-issue, and a great conversation point.

I totally agree, having a RHD car here in the US myself. In this size car you would only be sitting two feet from where you would sit in a LHD version. LOL !

When you're sitting on the ground looking up at all these tall SUVs and pick-up, it doesn't matter which hand you have. You just have to skip the drive-thru at Starbucks. :smilielol5:

I've driven a RHD locost for the last 9 years and I love it. My only complaint is it is hard to pass a car or truck on a two lane road. By the time you get the car out enough to see if another car is coming toward you it is too late. But it never really bothered me because my old motor only had less than 58HP. I did not pass a lot of cars. Now it might be a problem because I am putting a 104HP motor in and I think I'll be passing a lot of cars. Russ

You need more HP, that way no passing zone is too short. :jester:

I just went through a Burger king for breakfast with my RHD Caterham. The biggest issue one will have is inadvertently walking up to your car only to realize that you are on the passenger side, So you just make like you are checking the tires & as casually as you can walk to the correct side and get in.

I watched a woman in a RHD original Mini do a 180 hand brake turn as she approached the toll both at Rocky Mountain National Park. She backed up to the somewhat surprised lady in the toll booth, handed her the cash, got her ticket and maps, backed on through, did another 180 and went on her way.

 

You should be able to master that rather quickly in a Se7en.

The engine is new, never been started, and the Westfield factory sent the work out to an engine specialist: Scholar

Displacement 1798cc

Bore & Stroke 80.6mm x 86.0mm

Compression Ratio 10:1

Fuel 95 Octane Unleaded

Exhaust Single Catalyst side exit

Valves Four per Cylinder

Max Power 155 bhp@6450 rpm

Max Torque 135 ft/lbs@4750rpm

Gearbox Ford MT75 5 Speed

Speed per 1000 rpm 21.66 mph (3.92 diff)

0-60mph 5.3 Seconds

Top Speed 130 mph

 

The fuel injection is by Jenvey.

Its more embarrassing when you remember after you have sat down in the passenger seat... :o

Well, I haven't got a buyer yet (almost had one via eBay, but they didn't complete) so I'm dropping the price to $14,000 - anybody interested?
