super7guy
Retro, Have you decided whether you want a real Lotus, Caterham or ? Within those decisions for Lotus, do you want originality or restomod like shown in Classic Motorsports with stroker crossflow, 5 speed, etc.? Within those decisions for Caterham, early or late, live, dedion axle, or independent, kent bases, zetec or duratec? Lots to consider Wayne

Tbox56
I have the red car listed here http://birkindirect-usa.com/pre-owned/ available, I will take less than what is listed as I have put about 1500 miles on it. The car is currently registered in Colorado. PM me with any questions. Tom
MichaelD
You will also want to consider you height and waist as some sevens have more room than others.
retrorider
Just want a car to cruise the streets. Miata engine fine, just needs to be sorted out and equipped for driving. does not need to be beautiful, just decent.

scannon
Foot size needs considering. Foot boxes are small on the S3 sized cars and if your feet are wide you will not be able to depress one pedal without taking another with it. In Caterhams that means you need an SV or CSR. MichaelD
My guess it at about 36" waist things can be very tight. 5 7 is no problem.

Taber10
I wish I could remember back when I had a 36" waist--I guess it is a good thing I got the SV.

panamericano
Don't scare off the newbees. Where there is a will there's a way. I have a (ahem) 42 inch waist and am perfectly snug and comfortable in my old (86-89) Birkin. Those are pretty much the S3 design. Really tight was a Renault R5-Turbo (mid engine job) rally car with a seat made for the typical 145 pound race driver. At the time I was probably 200 lb., 36-38" and it took 20 minutes to hit bottom every time I got in! Then bliss. Those are lovely cars.

For reference, I would add that my size 11 E's fit fine in an S-3 with a cheap pair of Puma driving shoes. Just keep a pair of walking shoes in the boot. panamericano
CAswede, "For reference, I would add that my size 11 E's fit fine in an S-3 with a cheap pair of Puma driving shoes. Just keep a pair of walking shoes in the boot." It is true. I wear 11.5 - 12 shoes, depending on the shoe. I can NOT drive the Birkin in anything by race slippers or skinny driving shoes. No street shoes, no tennis shoes. As I recall, Mr. Chapman was an 8.5. It is not a big problem. Change shoes anot throw the others in the boot. bigdog
Vans slip on skate shoes work great, as well as Etnies scout model shoes (the Etnies only weigh about 4-5 ounces) and one can walk about in them without looking like a numpty. Both are comfortable and the sole isn't substantially wider than your foot like tennis shoes or Keens. I have both of these shoes in a size 10-10.5. http://etnies.com/shop/scout-10/grey-white-red/view360/ http://www.vans.com/shop/van-doren-slip-on-stars-stripes-checker
