KiwiBirkin
This is a good blast from the past! You still in Brisbane? I sure am Croc, 7 years now still with Yakima, heading to Portland Oregon in a week for 3 weeks for some training on the US Yakima system and having a weeks holiday in Portland too, as I have never been to the USA Edited August 9, 2019 by KiwiBirkin

Croc
Portland Oregon? Should be an interesting trip. Town is mostly run by hippies and communists but they do a good range of beers by microbreweries which redeems them in my view. Could be worse I suppose, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, all of Florida, Arkansas, etc. Think yourself lucky!
wemtd
Kiwi: drive to the coast to see haystack rock at Cannon Beach. Rt 101 along the coast is a scenic drive. There is also Mt Hood. I'm sure your colleagues will fill you in on additional touristy things to do Car looks sharp p.
JohnCh
Portland Oregon? Should be an interesting trip. Town is mostly run by hippies and communists but they do a good range of beers by microbreweries which redeems them in my view. That's outdated information. Many of the communists in power have been replaced by conflicted anarchists. Agree about the microbreweries though. Also a good foodie town. If you like books, make sure to visit Powell's which bills itself as the world's largest independent bookstore -- it's enormous! -John

Taber10
Portland Oregon? ......Could be worse I suppose, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, all of Florida, Arkansas, etc. Think yourself lucky! Hey, Croc, you really shouldn't put "all of Florida" together, at least not politically. The Panhandle has even been recognized TWICE by President Trump as "different" from most of Florida, once during the 2016 elections when the Panhandle, which is in Central Time Zone, swung the State in his favor. We try to refer to it as "LA" for Lower Alabama, because we tend to vote differently than the rest of the State. Also, we have one of the highest percentages of active and retired Military in the Nation. AND, we have some pretty good microbreweries!
Croc
Hi Taber- you are quite right. I always forget about the civilized portion of Florida. I just tend to think east and south since that is where they cause all of my problems.... Not sure whether association with Alabama is a good thing though? KiwiBirkin
Getting some drives in before it gets too hot. Also made a set of comms headphones for me and the passenger, made from ear protectors and motorcycle Bluetooth communication units, I have the instruction PDF on how to make these if anyone wants it. Croc
Being a true southerner and therefore not intimately familiar with the two letter abbreviations for the various states of America, right now KiwiBirkin is probably wondering what “AR” means? The thought bubbles will be along the lines of: Alfa Romeo Aunt Rosa Aarrrrrgh! ARizona Ass Reamed Augmented Reality Alternate Reality And so on... When in fact the real answer as we all know is Arkansas, which is only famous for producing Hilary Clinton. Croc
Hardly, first bristle toothbrush was recorded in 1498 in China. Try again, they must be known for something other than Hilary?

panamericano
The way I heard it, if the tooth brush was invented anywhere but Arkansas, it would be called Teeth Brush.
