I was realy liking it and picturing it in bright orange or yellow but they lost me at the GBP85k price. That's $110,000.

Beautiful car, best of luck to them for putting this out, hope it's a success. Can tell it's built on a Caterham chassis, all that weight on the rear axle and nothing on the front would make it a bit understeery I would imagine?

The other way round. All weight in the back and none in front makes the car prefer to be driving in reverse. When at university many, many years ago, some of the students made money by driving rental cars back to their home countries. The VW Beetle was the most accident prone and we teasingly named the accidents where they ran backwards into some obstruction at high speed after the student who had happen at the highest rate.

For that kind of cash I'll take a Caterham, a Lotus Elise or Exige and a 1980s Porsche 911. Al used of course.

Very similar conceptually to a Ginetta. Unfortunately, those are also expensive. Very small market for selling these globally, made infinitely more complex by each country having their own vehicle safety and emission standards.

 

Interestingly, if you look at the photos on the website of the roadster without the roof, it is VERY reminiscent of the old Caterham 21. That was built off the seven chassis. Mind you the detailing on the Janarelly is much more polished/higher quality.

It's not built on a Caterham chassis.

I don't understand your question there at the end but this is a true mid-engined car. The engine is fairly compact and sits between the rear axle and the centrally-located cockpit. It looks to be a very balanced layout.
