papak
I'm planning on remotely mounting the oil filter from my 2.3 l Duratec to the firewall. The question is -8 or -10 lines. They will only be 12-14" long. Using a NAPA 1056 filter. What's the consensus?
JohnCh
As a reference, and absent an answer from someone who actually understands this stuff, Caterham fits -12 plumbing to the oil system. Granted these are longer runs to the dry sump tank and oil cooler, but I'd be hesitant to use something as small as -8. -John
ashyers
I'm running -10 lines for the high pressure pump-filter-block. The low pressure from the scavenge pump-cooler-pump are -12.
papak
Thanks to all. I plan on making up a pair of -10 lines. Mountune makes a very nice takeoff plate for the project.
fastg
I would use whatever the remote setup recommend. Using over size lines will not improve flow. Graham Edited December 9, 2022 by fastg Spelling
MV8
Full flow fittings (versus elbows), no reducers to shear the oil across sharp internal edges, some slack/stress relief in the hoses that may need to move/grow a tiny amount with pressure/temp or shrink with use/cycles, and may need to be supported for dynamics you can't see when parked. IamScotticus
While on the topic any recommendation on the hose?

Push lock type hose is typical and last a while but will harden and crack eventually. For longer lasting hoses: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/mil6000.php The standard: http://everyspec.com/MIL-SPECS/MIL-SPECS-MIL-DTL/MIL-DTL-6000D_6090/
ashyers
I just made up some lines w/ Earls Pro-Lite 350 hose and Swivel-Seal hose ends. I've come to hate the push lock hose and Earls makes a decent product. I had no need for the SS braid so I thought I'd try the Pro-Lite hose and it was really easy to deal with. Papak, I have a few feet of -10 left . Andy

inchoate
I've currently got my oil cooler plumbed with -10 pushlock and oetikers. When it fails, which I'm assuming it will at some point, I'll switch over to PTFE.
wemtd
I have aeroquip startlite -8 or 10 (can’t remember) & compression swivel fittings for my cooler [stock 1.9L duratec]. I Didn’t want abrasive SS possibly rubbing against something. So far no complaints in 2 years.
papak
I've got it ready to install, just awaiting the Derale remote filter mount tomorrow. AN-10 fittings and some Earl's Pro 350 hose.
