Yes, the Sadev has straight cut gears. Not that bad when you are screaming down the straights at 7,500 rpm. It is noisy in neutral and clunks going into first. I'm told it is not as bad as the Quaife gearboxes, but have not heard one to say for sure.

If you are going to drive it on the road often, you may want to consider another option. On the track it's killer and who cares about the noise there.

You are welcome to listen to mine if you ever get to the NYC area.

I assume the Sadev also has straight cut gear that sound like a screaming baby?

I wondered what that noise was when I followed Blubarisax on track yesterday. I just assumed it was Karl freaking out for going faster than the haridresser driving the BMW 1 series convertible he just passed.

Then again it could be the sound of money being sucked out of his wallet as he blows yet another clutch and he has to remove engine/gearbox.

Hi all from England, I've been toying with the idea of forced induction on my Westy, 2.0l blacktop, and have enjoyed reading this thread enough for me to join.

I am running 170hp on standard internals, GSXR 1000 throttle bodies, a 4 into 1 manifold and, yep, I need more. I regularly compete against guys with 220-250 N/A HP, and for me to get this from the Zetec it would be cheaper the FI way. I apologise for being cheap, but things aren't great here at the present.

I compete in the local hillclimbs and sprints, and having analysed my times/speed, I am loosing all my time in the drags, away from the line and after slow corners, so my pennies worth would be, as far as FI or N/A is concerened, it all depends on what you need form the car.

I must add, being 18 stone doesn't help ( read 14lbs x 18 ) but that's the way it is.

I see a lot of FI kits on your Ebay ( not the uk site ) but killer delivery costs! can anyone recommend anyone to deal with?

Cheers

If my memory serves from that site, there are several iterations of the "Duratec" and it might depend on which one; some are straight from Mazda and I think others are not. One has to check the model/serial numbers to be sure.

I have a turbo setup on the Duratec in my R400; it can be done to great effect and the turbo lag issues aren't as apparent as you might think providing you have a good sensible tune on the car. The first setup is pretty costly but I bet we could duplicate it for a reasonable cost now all the R&D is done. Stand alone ECU is the way to go although it can be done with a standard ECU we did to start with, but for really precise tuning a stand alone is your best bet, in my opinion. I'm a supercharger guy, have had several on my jags and would have said they were my first choice but I wouldnt discount a turbo as a Caterham setup they've come along way since the 930's, with a good wheel sensor setup you can do alot of trick stuff if your tuner is good enough.... Just my two cents.

I now have a Turbocharged SuperStalker. Power is a 2.4L Ecotec from a 2006 Solstice with a stage III Hahn turbo.

Wow! What a setup. How do you like it? 2.4 Ecotec-- I'm not really familiar with that engine.

How much did the turbo setup cost?

Very clean car. Looks like you put a lot of thought into it. I notice the side skin is missing more than even a normal Stalker.

You should stick a chunk of fiberglass with a Corvette emblem on it in the teeth.

Nice installation. That seems to be a very tiny radiator and the first time I have seen an intercooler behind the radiator.

So you have any dyno charts for the engine?

Jack: What is the weight difference between the two versions of your car?

Nice to see an alterative to the V8 route being explored.

Beautiful car, beautiful paint.

Did you close off the driver's side engine compartment exhaust opening?

I have not had a chance to weigh the car yet. On the title it said 1600 pounds on 21 but I think that would be heavy. My chassis #10 weighs 1520.

It only has the exhaust on the passenger side which is where they had to put the turbocharger. It was purpose built not a conversion from the 6 cylinder.

I will be learning more about the car over the next few weeks but I am excited about the Ecotec concept. So far this is the only one and it was built in Iowa.

I'll put side engine covers on it like on my yellow one. The sharks teeth will be gone before the weekend. This engine came out of a pontiac Solstice. I think i'm gong to like it. Only had it for three days. This was a turnkey car from the builder.
