MichaelD
Sounds great to me. Thanks for picking up yhe ball. I would want to register for the track time. Where, when and how is this done?
DeanG
Claudia & I will help out. Typically she helps with registration. I'll send an email see about what I can do.
Boxologist
Haven't se7ens been banned from PCA track events?
Sean
They probably moved it from Connecticut to New York due to the more lenient marijuana laws in NY. [/trollmode]
blubarisax
Yes, se7ens are banned, have to have fenders attached on all four corners.
Croc
Well it is good that Tony V is picking up organization LOG 33 - I feel confident he can organize a pretty good piss up in a brewery. However, the choice of PCA to run a Lotus track day is a little bewildering since PCA banned Lotus 6, 7, Caterham, Westfield, et al. I just bet they would throw up all over some of the classic Lotus open wheel race cars too :bs:
blubarisax
PCA track day restrictions or not (and I do feel somewhat responsible for bringing the rules to the surface) plan to go. While The Glen is a great track, the lake and surrounding roads are beautiful.
BusaNostra
What is the real reason why they banned 7 type cars? I'm not aware about this.
blubarisax
They have had a rule on the books for years banning open wheel cars. I went off at a Lime Rock PCA event last April. I suspect while reviewing the accident, they decided that a se7en was an open wheel car since the fenders were not attached to the front fenders. I have been told that their insurance policy would not cover an open wheeled car. I ran many events with them and always had a great time. No issues with NASA or SCDA though. If anyone is going to run with PCA, they should watch for the registration dates and sign up as soon as it opens. PCA members can register two weeks before non-members and Watkins Glen always fills up fast. Edited December 15, 2012 by blubarisax

scannon
The dates and other info were in post 1 but it looks like Busa edited it out. Early August, host hotel is in Corning, NY.

tvacc
Wow, I dont have a clue how this got out so fast, but it is true. My son and I are co-chairs fo the LOG this year and it will be at Watkins Glen and Corning NY. Dates are Aug 2,3,4. We really had not choice on the track day. You cannot rent the Glen unless you rent it every year. There are just no dates open. We had to get what we could get and working with the Porsche group was our only option. We had planned on posting out the lists this week with more information. I will do so. I have been involved with 3 LOGs. First one was in 1987 when I was the guy responsible for bringing in Innes Ireland as the speaker. Then I chaired the events in 1999 at the Glen again and 2003 at Grand Island NY. I know how to put on a LOG and I am teaching my son. So I am passing the torch so to speak. Please join us. It will be a good time. If anyone wants any more info, just contact us. You know the email. tvacc *at* lotusowners *dot* you know what.
Croc
Wow, I dont have a clue how this got out so fast, but it is true. Seven drivers are always very fast!:driving: I know how it got out - you emailed me and 3 others on this forum! We are on your LOONY email list! And good thing we are too! :bigear: Thank you for also clarifying the track day situation - I had no idea the booking situation was so congested at Watkins Glen. In your official public notice you may want to clarify PCA eligibility upfront to prevent disappointments later.

blubarisax
Tony, Thanks for taking on the project, let us know how we can help. We are all glad to have a fellow se7ener on the job. If there is a way to drive with NNJR PCA that would be great. Perhaps MichaelD will loan us his clamshells. Watkins Glen is a fantastic location, the racing history alone makes me feel faster every time I am up there. Mike, Can't you write the PCA a special supplemental insurance rider? All, I have camped at Watkins Glen (I confess it was a NASCAR event) and had a great time. For those that don't like camping, I recommend you book hotels early, they can fill up depending on what's going on for the weekend. It would be fun to caravan up from the NYC area before the event. I'll be driving the support rig with the "Cheese Doodle" in side. Karl
BusaNostra
Did someone sucker punch Connecticut? First, why would you schedule Log 33 while Limerock hosting the Vintage race? Why not investigate more and find another track that can be rented solely for Lotus gathering? I know we have a new road racing track available for rent....it's all ours for the day or more.....maybe available by then... http://www.norwichbulletin.com/mallard/x269562013/Thompson-Speedway-considering-road-course-s-return#axzz2FDry2fXV I passed the area (sept) and saw a couple of monster & paving machines. The area is ideal for Tri states -- Mass - Ct - RI possibly NH & NY -- near the beaches & water too. MoBoost
Great news! Was planning on making the trip to Connecticut, but my heart is with Watkins Glen. Tony will do a good job as he has in the past!
Kitcat
I like the Glen better too, at least it's within a day's drive of some of us mid-westerners. Another catch for track day folks is that you have to have a PCA instructor ride with you and sign you off as safe. If, like me, you have no passenger seat, then the ride-along ain't happening. Is this the excuse I have been looking for to buy a Porsche?
