Al, does that mean you will be there?

I have heard from a couple other 7 owners who don't frequent this site and they are planning on attending. So as of today we are at 12 Se7ens planning to be there on track. With a few more that have yet to check in, I think 17 to 20 on track is possible. So if we can provide activities for those of you who don't want to put your car on track, Who's in?:driving:

What is the difference between an official or unofficial USA7s meet? If it is the presence of exalted office bearers then thats ok as they are welcome if they bring the cold drinks and snacks! :lurk:

By the way...who has the big USA7s banner these days? Tom - did you keep it after last year?

Still in the trailer last time I looked.

If Mazda can get his act together and finish his BEC, then that will make it a "special" event. :leaving:

Al, we promise to be nice to Bessie if you bring her. :seeya:

So JBH, Jvbtte, Klasic69, Pete, Stig, SABBOT,Redgoose, Boxologist, and anyone else out there. Feel free to join us.

  • 1 month later...

Why don't folks who have spare parts gathering dust in their garage, basement, or storage unit, bring them to this event for sale/swap? I know Karl has stuff he doesn't need and I do as well. I am sure there are others.

The advantage is that there will be a group of potential buyers all in one spot, it avoids shipping issues, payment issues, buyer gets to see exactly that he is getting and, I suspect, prices will be very reasonable.

Or bring you entire car if it's for sale. Hey, this mite be a chance for Superformance, the new US distributor of Caterhams, to show off a few new cars. I know I wldnt refuse the chance to test drive the new Suzuki powered Cat!!!

As we get closer we can list our stuff for sale here or open up a separate NJMP track meet/swap meet thread.

Great idea Mike! :iamwithstupid: I have a catalytic converter than accidentally fell off my previous seven that I am currently using as a door stop :o Karl has the entire parts collection needed to construct a Caterham SV - thats what happens when you rebuild your car from the Cosworth parts list! Tom has the world's surplus supply of clam shells. Steve from St Louis has surplus ali polishing compound that he can do live demonstrations of how he keeps so shiny. MichaelD probably has a goodly supply of broken clutches. And of course I suspect that you have many many broken pieces of engines lying around your garage? :jester:

Tom has talked with George Alderman and his son at MidAtlantic Caterham and Dave Hutchinson at Ragtops & Roadsters (Birkin Dealer) about participating. George sounded keen to join the fun!

Greetings Northeast 7 fanatics!

My name is Sebastien Katch. I live in Stamford Connecticut, and this is my first USA7s post! I’m pleased to announce that I will put on the road a new red / white striped R400 sometime this spring and truly look forward to getting to know all of you at different events over the summer.

Owning and building a Caterham has been a dream come true – 20 yrs in the making. I look forward to sharing this passion and learning much from all of you.

See you at the NJMP event or sooner.

Great Stewart!!! Be sure to bring your camera toting buddy. :seeya:

That makes 15 by my count with several more that are aware of it and may commit. Still thinking that 18 to 20 is doable.

Al are you planning to make an appearance? Mazda?

For those who have not been on track before, we have the ability to put you in a novice group, with and instructor to ease you into the trackday experience in a non passing group. So if you ever wanted to take your car on track but were hesitant, this is a great opportunity. :driving: Tom

Hi Sebastien

Welcome to the USA7s forum and welcome to Seven ownership. :seeya: We would love to welcome you to the event later this year. Have you started construction of your kit yet? If you have questions, post them on the forum. Someone always has come across them before you do.

Cheers

Mike

Thanks a ton for the warm welcome. Much appreciated.

Yes, I started the build at the end of August last year and I've been taking my time. Of course, I've been fighting with the kit and instructions but Jon Nelson from Caterham USA has been a great help (and on speed dial). I welcome the forum's offer to help answer questions.. I'd like to give Jon a bit of a break.

As for the car, i'm getting there. Almost done.. I'm shooting for an April or May DMV registration.

Sebastien - when you get close enough you may want to drop Red Duck (Steve) on here a PM as he is in CT and I am sure will fill you in on his efforts at the DMV. Another one to PM is Bruce (11Budlite) as he is also in CT and not too far from you.

Wow that's going to be a fun event and very tempting.

It's about 500 miles or an 8 hour run for me which is doable. But what if I break something which is quite likely. Looks from the photos I might be driving the one of the older and slower Caterhams too.

I'll see how much maintenance work I can complete when the thaw eventually comes.

Wow, this little gathering could become an International event. :jester: Next thing you know the Brits will be flocking over. :smilielol5:

Andy, We'd love to have you join us. It's not a race, just a trackday with all levels of skill, power and no egos, so it's a fun event. Chasing or following other 7's around the track is a great way to see what you and your car are capable of. Safety first of course. And the good thing is other than Croc, Blubarisax and maybe Jeffs in his new R500, most cars are pretty even on the straights and only skill level determines who's faster thru the turns.

I'll put you in the possible/maybe column.

Thats ok...Tom is pretty old too! :jester:

Tom commented well on the spirit of the day - drive safely, enjoy your car in the setting it was designed for and have a fun social time at the end of the day.

If you do have problems so far from home then we do have a local mechanic in town that seems to services a lot of the local track cars. There is a good tire shop for remounting tires and balancing but probably would not have any exotic tires in stock. If it is something that needs Caterham parts then we have access to George Alderman, about an hour away in DE, who could probably help out. But an engine rebuild....then we would probably be pushing uphill to help out at short notice. Best way to avoid the scramble though is with good preparation as you noted.
