yellowss7
Got my car back from George Alderman at Midatlantic Caterham after he fabricated a new roll cage for my Caterham. I'm very happy with the results. He had done a cage for JBH and I asked him to make a slight change in the design, to make it the dual hoop "Superlight" style, vs. the single diagonal "RoadSport" cage design, in the Caterham vernacular. Take a look.

yellowss7
Yeah, It already takes about 5 minutes to get in get the harnesses on, helmet, gloves, cameras on, etc. Adding the cage climb and a HANS device, should ad a few more minutes. Good thing I bought a Cool Shirt for those warm July days. Nothing like baking in nomex in the hot sun while sitting in Pit Lane. bball7754
Tom - looks great. Was it cheaper to have it fabricated at Midatlantic rather than purchasing from Caterham and shipping from the UK? Also wondering whether George could have added mounting bosses for a 3rd tailight? Steve
yellowss7
Steve, I'm sure he could have added one if I had thought of it. As for cost. I think Karl said the shipping from the UK is around 800 to 1000 dollars, so price wise, I think it was cheaper this way. But probably not by much. It'll take a whole session to get on the track. :seeya: m
drew...
Tom, Would it be possible to post photos from inside and outside how the front of the cage attaches to the original frame? yellowss7
You got that right. :banghead: I've got a standard routine that begins with finding the key. Second step is to check the side mirrors. Nothing is more frustrating than to be Belted in and not be able to reach the mirrors, helmet, gloves, etc. I'm sure just about everyone on here has at one time left their keys in their pockets. :smash:

JBH
As Tom mentioned, George did mine. I think the advantage to having it made locally is the cage is certain to fit. There were some questions raised about the mounting points on my chassis when I started looking at the Caterham units. The other deciding factors were the cost was lower than Caterham and it could be painted to match my car. Tom: Hans + rollcage = another 2 minutes to put on the helmet. http://usa7s.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=4922&d=1364935002 Edited February 10, 2014 by JBH

Thanks, drew... Hi Drew, It's been a few years since we met at Barber Motorsports Park. That was my first ever Trackday! You should try think about joining our 7s gathering at NJMP one of these years. That Blue car of yours would be a show stopper. Here are a few pics. Hope they are what you're looking for. drew...
Tom, Thanks - that is exactly what I was looking for! NJMP is only 1230 miles one way - but I do try to get to a new track every year...... drew...

Mondo
Looks Great! I'm thinking of something similar but want to make the upper outside bar removable... leave off for street and bolt on for track. .
