Re. the S-1  Wasn't able to see but the one picture, and didn"t see the scratches. But the car looks all intact and maybe upgraded coil-overs. got mine about 15 years ago for 16K, it had been auto-crossed hard and put away wet, had a worn rotary that cost far less than the normal z-tech to put in. They are a very comfortable car with good handling. And would make a very good daily driver. I have put over 800 miles on mine in one day and still was comfortable.  To me the price is almost tempting as a replacement, keeping mine as either parts or backup.  Suggest pursuing the owner.    john

I agree,the car is priced very well. It did not come stock with a lsd,only an open diff. Horsepower stock was around 140,still this is a great driving 7 (I have an S1 and have had many 7 style cars over the years),the sellers lack of responses-maybe he doesn't know the answers will hurt his auction outcome. Again though that is alot of car for the money....

I've seen scratches like found on the hood before on a friends Cobra replica where he went under a chain-link fence (not intentionally).

Looking at the pictures, what scares me the most, is the right front lower control arm, it appears to be cracked (see attached) . Or am I seeing something that only appears to be a crack?

Not sure what you are seeing as a "crack"  looks like there is a clear protective film on the forward face to avoid chips.

I believe mrmustang is correct,that looks like a crack to me. The seller should take some pics of that at different angles and look underneath to see exactly what it is...

I looked at some pictures of my S1 (the car is in storage) and I have those weld seams also (although mine look smooth not jagged like the sellers car),they appear to be a tube welded into a larger tube but I can't look at my car right now to confirm this-I will try to go by and take a closeup picture of mine tomorrow...

I have just looked up photos I have of other S1's and they all have a join/weld/something in that location on both sides.  Looks unusual enough I would be asking for a clearer pic/explanation.

Was looking at the pics on my phone, sure looked like a crack, but seeing the larger picture on my laptop this AM, it does appear to be a welded tubing.

 

Thanks for the extra set of eyes.

 

As far as price goes, at 15K, without knowing whether the car comes with the convertible top or not, the seller should take the money and run.

Looks like they used thinner wall tube to keep the weight down then fit thicker wall ends to accept threads. They even scalloped the thin tube ends so it would be less likely to crack at the welds. The best way to do it imho.

It is the way they were built. Well accepted practice.  john

The cars are well built, mine has been both ways over the 75 miles of the "Burr Trail" at speed. My only complaints are- no foot room -- the front fender attachment is for crap-- and superformance has created an orphan of them-- and parts sources are non existent. For the driver-- well balanced and quite forgiving and not fatiguing.

It’s a slip joint with scalloped ends to prevent shear…  There’s also protective film that is 20 years old and cracking…
