I haven’t ever really determined my maximum range or filled my tank all the way (except the time I overflowed!) but I tried to crunch the numbers from my notepad-based drive log over the past two years and it seems I get around 20mpg, give or take. This is mostly on canyon drives (since the hills start 10 minutes away), so I guess I’m satisfied. Would always like to see a little better though!

I wondered why Steve left the practice day before the 4:00 shutdown. People told me the Electo-Birkin had shut down midrun. I didn't notice at the time. Apparently several folks pushed the car onto Steve's trailer and he took it home. I saw Harold at the autocross this morning. Not wishing put him on the spot, I tried to ask a general question: ===== What's the status of the Electo-Birkin? "I wanted to go home and spend some time with my wife and family." A laudable action. How about the Electo-Birkin? "A problem with the proximity circuit." What kind of problem? "I had the sensor in my pocket." ===== Yes. It seems that as soon as Harold drove away, the car decided that the driver was out of range and shut down.

And its lap time there is? Not exactly a Caterham friendly track with all of the high speed sections.

https://gazcoilovers.com/caterham-gaz-dampers-326-c.asp I bought a complete set front and rear for my 88 S3. Even with the tariff and shipping it wasn’t excessive. Enjoying the car too much at the moment to take it off the road to install them along with the bushings I got from Sevens and Elans.

I wish I had the budget for this….it would be great to have these as spares for my 1600 BDR

A few folks have asked me if the Birkin that gave it's gasoline guts for my Caterham has progressed on its electric journey. Steve made it to part of the MAC autocross practice day. Since he lives near the site and I heard he and co-conspiriter Harold were tying up some loose ends to get it to the event, I motored over there in the Caterham. I got a shot of it on the trailer. I didn't shoot it at the event, but I'm here to tell you Steve and some other folks got it around the course in a respectable time. I don't know how old those Avon hillclimb tires are...

Minnesota is a two-plate state, but Collector Class (20 years old) cars, AND cars old enough to eligible for Collector Class even if not registered that way, only need to display a rear plate. I may get away with not having a rear plate light on the Birken. Or do what I did with a former trailer; install the plate using mounting bolts incorporating directional LEDs. I think I even saw an MK Car so-equipped in one of their promo pix.

1994 S7 -- a year or two ago, I would have just ordered from Caterham. Any US sources of stock or high performance shocks? Street car, so don't need anything super trick. Need fronts. Suggestions? THANKS!

I’m filing that under “seven immunity” like not mounting my front license plate.

I'm not certain, but I think engine OFF, ignition ON is legal in most states.

These are all vintage components that would be required for a 1600 BDR kit. Complete from intake to collector. From the pictures of a BDR kit, the exhaust pipes and collector are not provided. Cosworth head has been machined, welded and pressure tested by a machinist who also builds Top Fuel motors. New custom valve guides were installed along with strong recommendation to use new valves. The head is marked with “EC 72” and other markings. The original head work was performed by Vegantune using their cylinder head components. Cosworth cam tray has “BA” markings and contains reinforcing blocks fitted at the first cam support. BDD race cams were reground by Schneider to 284 duration with 0.400 lift. These cam specs still provided over 9K with a steel rotating assembly on the Schlossnagel engine dyno where 185 HP was recorded. Cosworth intake manifold is port matched to the head. Cosworth pistons and all sprockets are included with 56 new and used top hat shims. Cosworth/Ford cam cover contains a plaque with the Vegantune ID number. The Caterham exhaust pipes for the 3 bolt flange are sand formed and the fitted collector and are no longer available making these exact fit headers very rare. The headers and collector have been powered coated. Time to divest of remaining Lotus, Caterham and Cosworth parts, still "super7guy7@yahoo.com" Asking $4K or OBO, located in San Diego,CA Cosworth cam card.pdf Cylinder Head Service.pdf

Hello Dr. Bob- I am a new poster here, but a long-term lurker. I am very interested in your car. I live outside Atlanta, but am currently in Satellite Beach assisting an elderly relative for a few days. I would like to come meet you and see your Stalker. My schedule will have me passing through your locale early next week. Mon. - Wed, most likely, but I am flexible as to timing. I'm a prior FormulaFord and FormulaContinental racer, and am looking for a street/track car as my entering retirement prize (currently 64). I'm asking you to PM me rather than posting my phone number for obvious reasons. Hopefully that is viable, given this is my first post here. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting. Thanks!! Mike

Slonie, Many thanks for your post on the Lisle funnel. Wife ordered mine from Amazon yesterday and it will help with my awkwardly located coolant reservoir.

Thanks Jeff. Yes, I’ve often thought of the Caterham as a four-wheeled motorcycle - you feel everything, including the Warner w d cooler air pockets on beautiful Bay Area roads. So many motoring journalists bemoan lack of “steering feel” and “communicative chassis” in modern cars, and that’s the beauty of a good Caterham it’s lacks almost everything, except brilliantly executed essentials!

Thanks for your quick response. My brother had a Birkin and I always really enjoyed driving that car. Your Seven sounds amazing but no room for more cars need to downsize some. I feel the Seven is the perfect blend of open air like the motorcycle and handling like the Mini. If you see a custom Cooper S on bring a trailer there still might be hope for me to own a Seven. Good luck with the sale. Thanks again.
