Love them. First, remove the part that locks the valve "off". That was not in the original design and is a damned annoyance. Second, to fill a Seven, affix to the nozzle a hose long-enough to reach into the car's tank. Fish the hose into the tank. Hook the tab on the valve to the filler rim. Tilt the can horizontal and press the can towards the car. Gas will flow into the car, Now and again the assembly will burp air from the tank into can. When the fuel reaches to the end of the hose, air can't enter the hose and gas stops flowing. Ease up the pressure to close the valve. Withdraw the hose slowly to break the air seal to allow the gas in the hose to drain into the car tank. I two-step this by using a big can to repeatedly refill a two-gallon can so I don't have to hold a heavy can at the car.

I took my Birkin to a Practice Autocross today. I got more than 20 runs for maybe 60 dollars (I'd have to look that up, but surely was not $100). Didn't sell the car, though. Tomorrow is a more-conventional autocross. -
I may be interested in this for my classic 7. Will PM.

Thanks for the offer, Dan. I may be in touch.

That sounds ideal. We used to have a bunch that would rent VIR for a day. Lodging and a good dinner for $200 -
A few of us did scca and north east motor sports. Both at the meadowlands complex in 2006-2009. Between 4 and 12 Elise’s would come out. On Friday’s NEMS had a morning session where, for ~$120 you could do “training”. And we’d run as many laps as we could in ~3 or so hours. We’d easily get 16-20 runs. No course work. Just driving. we ended up skipping the traditional weekend events because none of us wanted to work the actual course. was a good group of guys.

Well, we can only learn our limits by exceeding them. You know a lot. No, seriously, I tracked our Elise 102 days at Road Atlanta and VIR. Attended a soectator a number of local auto cross events. My car was pretty well set up for it, but I never got around to doing it. Just seemed like an awful lot of time to be there for not much time on the circuit. If you could pay a few hundred dollars and get like 20 runs? But anyway, I applaud your courage to take on the cones and your willingness to reveal these photographs to us all 😊 -
I'll never know for sure, but I had been playing so much with the suspension I think I left something loose, the car snap oversteered faster than I could ever imagine and I couldn't catch it. Either way it's entirely my fault, not the concrete wall's fault. Wasn't even speeding! Frame is bent, cracked front and rear, all cross beams have a bend in them. Drivetrain, cooling, supercharger, interior is perfect other than the LSD probably. Bruce quoted a new frame. Hagerty Fixed Price has me covered, thank goodness! I've spent so long on this car I can't fathom putting it back together again and then crashing 600 more miles down the road. If I lived by the caterham factory, that would be a different story.
-
Damn that sucks, what happened? The car looks very fixable - i've seen some gnarly crash vids of UK 7s racing with rapid repair and return to the track in short order.
-
Glad to hear you're okay. Hopefully the insurance company treats you well.
-
That’s good to hear!

I am! Took about 2 months to recover the bruised ribs but made it out. The Schroth belts were ace and I didn't hit my head on the roll cage, thank you lowered floors.
-
Oh no!! Hopefully you’re alright!

Welp, this is sadly the end of my Caterham road, 650 miles in. If anyone wants to buy my brand new with box, never installed MCS custom 3-ways with long enough reservoir dry breaks to reach the cabin interior, let me know! I have schematics, details, and contacts at MCS who invested a lot of time to get it right. I am most bummed about not being able to try those out. Will post all the aftermarket things on marketplace in the near future. Watch copart for a great deal. Back to my Miata

For my 310 Encore build, I'm considering replacing the supplied, blue-plastic T-piece that connects the engine, modine and expansion tank with the one recommended here (Gates 19mm T-piece, part # 28635) (https://caterham420detailedbuildblog.co.uk/2019/12/19/engine-plumbing-part-1/) or a stainless steel version. The Gates one (nylon-reinforced plastic) is designed specifically for auto use and might be more durable overall. Any suggestions or experience re. this t-piece would be welcome.

I hate gas cans with "safety" nozzles with a passion. They are difficult to use and invariably leak all over me. The solution I found was this battery operated pump. You set the gas can on the ground beside the vehicle and drop the suction hose in the can. You clip the discharge hose into (yes, inside) the vehicle port. You turn it on. It does 3+ gallons per minute and has an automatic cut off that prevents overflow spills. Neat, tidy, a full tank every time. It costs $40. https://www.amazon.com/PETASOON-Patented-Transfer-Operated-Automatic/dp/B0GHDNVNN2/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=36VZE4WYS4Q0&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.BoCuWZoWrQCc38XkuwpkL55hlphvatxqqXO5D4CZD5V-ZfTPUM7Ugf899YjRgxHDhHy10H4j4jiJKfES049CFtKaeU_qrkxKTQMLAz7nVvp8If5r6U_XXU6g0ShXTtigkiysEom7iqUBtUU6RdblMgnGMssz0-FkVMjo4IyPI7n2Jj7DVNjxQruNHGXOBhj26uSAeKSY8izIrcOsqlic2lJHhQ1dnV31gIrR76dhMNceoFoaFIrleWndzprORn7zTcVrEfECHlyDVx4LNNTc_gDuwr2PvuQbAR1kT4Fq79M.QV0U1JKCosqZVLE0rPYSgOMdgF8gpugwqd3k4WTdwEs&dib_tag=se&keywords=fuel%2Btransfer%2Bpump&qid=1781350953&sprefix=fuel%2B%2Caps%2C241&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1

Hoosiers r8 mounted to the extra set of wheels. 195/60/13 front and 215/60/13 rears. The tire shop took days to mount them as they broke 3 “spoons” (I’m guessing the name of this ) on the tire mounting machine. That bead is no joke. But to his credit he was not going to concede the defeat. Tires mounted and the clearance isn’t all that different to the Toyo r888r. I think (hope) the stay clearance works. Have not had the courage to test them on the road yet. I guess if I can make a track day soon ish will be the real test. I have run the r888r hard and haven’t seen and contact. Will see how much the Hoosiers will deflect at full tilt on the track.

Today I met up with @Frankie for a drive along East Canyon Reservoir. Great weather and a nice, leisurely drive. https://maps.app.goo.gl/tfgTPuN7eFgVYyoq7 A couple of pictures from my dashcam, and Frank may post some video after he goes through it:
