  2. I looked at that first thing myself, and I'm going to disagree of your assessment of the bonnet angle. Cat nose heights vary from car to car, but my observation of Cat bonnet angles is they are nearly horizontal, especially on a DeDion. This requires some proof. The front bonnet height on my 96 is 6.25" and the and the scuttle is 9". A Lotus nose height is generally an inch shorter 5.25". The inch difference is more noticeable depending on the rear ride height which I believe S2s & 3s (live axles) ride ride higher in rear. With John's silhouette being perfectly horizontal, and to have the bonnet angle it does, is evident to me this is based on a S2 profile, or an artistic library has been taken. Regardless, I think the lines of the car are very good but the silhouette lines could be thicker or darker to pop better for smaller thumbs, etc.
  3. Today
  4. Hi @Timothy Keith-Lucas as per the original post, not all proposals are in this thread, and the intent was to keep it open through April to give people time. There is no rush to reach a decision. If nothing else comes in over the next couple of weeks, or if the people who have privately indicated to me that they are working on something don't need the extra time, then I will consider ending it earlier than planned.
  5. Have we exhausted ideas? If so, I vote for any of the near relatives of the original design proposed by JohnCh, such as this one: A risk in doing a group design is each person having a very specific favorite, such that no consensus is reached. I actually would prefer a slightly lower bonnet and wings, because it looks more Caterham than Lotus, and I own a 1962 S2. Perhaps someone with more investment in the organization than I have developed could propose a model that he/she thinks everyone could live with.
  6. Had an issue with a bit, not much, of muffler/tail pipe, backfiring that is usually a lean condition. I know I am not lean so suspected something in the ignition system. I changed the plugs from the Denso Plats to NGK BCPR 7's and that seemed to fix the issue. Need the cooler plug with the 10.5-1 compression. Cooler day today but we'll see when it is hotter. Looking at the plugs I think # 1 was not working properly.... the residue was not the same as the others and the compression in that cylinder is excellent. I also lightened up that carb throat (idle) a tad that feeds that cylinder. Fun dialing this booger in. Had her up to 90 mph today, pulls great....90 mph in the 7 is like 150 in the Corvette. Same fun.

  10. I have the electronic ignition with a coil pack mounted where the dizzy was...thanks for the starting point.
  11. The red cage needed to be removed. Then I had a very thin Tweezer for vinyl that I was able to disengage the clip, then pushed it out from the front using a piece of Tig filler wire. Put it all back together and it started right up.
  12. The car is in Pontiac MI with 1200 miles on the odometer. Driven a few dozen times on the M1 Concourse circuit. Well maintained and in great condition.
  13. You might want to put where the car is located, and how many fun miles are on it, and if you had been racing it.
  14. Lovely 2015 model in Caterham F1 livery with Sigma engine, lowered floor, detachable steering wheel and 6 speed gear box. Runs beautifully. Includes uninstalled lightweight flywheel. $40k.
  15. The Beva and Eva were made by Chris Williams up in Vankleek Hill, Ontario Canada. Really nice guy who based them off a Dutton not a Lotus 7. He also built Cobra replicas and others. It was a huge fiberglass shop with lots of different moulds out back. Very talented guy running a one-man shop. I still have a Beva kit sitting on a shelf in the warehouse that I bought 35 years ago.
  16. I have a Caterham 280 at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac. Sigma engine, lowered floor, fancy F1 paint job. Runs beautifully. Includes an uninstalled lightweight flywheel.
  17. This is what happens when a 7 builder takes psychotropic medication
  18. Not really my jam. But seven esque https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3goD4AG8/1987-eva-beva
  19. Magnecor is in Michigan. Part number AU_337 should be correct (C20XE engine) with the wire type and thickness after U. Contact Magnecor. The plug boot length and grommet in combination with the distributor cap terminal is unique to this engine. Some have coil packs instead and those are different too. I would consider taking one of the wires to a local auto parts store to compare the ends to what they have on the shelf, then cross reference. Focus and miata plug ends would be a good place to start. Post your terminal length tip to valve cover top seal and the diameter at the plug and the ribbed middle that helps to keep it centered in the plug well.
  20. Looking for Magnecor or similar upgraded types available in the US by reference number....I've seen the ones available in England.... any crossover numbers?
  21. My wife did the sewing and I fitted it all and reconfigured some of the gauges. Stock was black aluminum, I like it way more than that!
  22. Thanks, I'll transmit the message to my mechanic! Hopefully this is what it is, it (c)(sh)ouldn't be broken since it's a fully rebuilt transmission.
  23. No idea, but I would run what you usually run and see how they do. Maybe a couple extra PSI given their warning about liking higher pressures.

  25. What are the hot/cold pressures for the R7? I’ve never run them before. The spec sheet has these pressures but they seem high.
  26. As per the thread below, we now have a new How-to Guides section in Articles that features @CBuff's post as the inaugural guide.
  27. 1997 Caterham Seven Roadsport 150 is a RHD S3 chassis imported from the UK in Jan 2024 and currently has 21,573 miles. I purchased the Caterham in 2023 while working in Cambridge from Sevens and Classics and it is a fantastic example. This Caterham was factory built featuring Monte Carlo Blue paint and many desirable options. It features the 1.6 K Series engine with the DVA K15 engine upgrade making 150bhp, 6-speed transmission, Titan LSD, 13” Apollo alloy wheels, anti-cavitation Apollo oil tank, roadsport leather adjustable seats, a lowered drivers-side floor, full weather gear, carbon rear arch guards, heated windscreen, cabin heater, FIA roll bar, sequential shift lights, 12v power socket. The car was registered in Florida and comes with a clean title and all applicable customs forms. This Seven has a full service history and was serviced annually at Sevens and Classics prior to export. The Roadsport spec was designed as a perfect fast tourer with its comfortable leather seats and factory Bilstein road-suspension that soak up the miles surprisingly well. The 13” Apollo wheels allow enough sidewall on the Avon CR500 tires to improve the ride quality. Stopping power is provided with 4 disk brakes and stainless lines. A Titan Limited Slip Differential was fitted in 2008. The previous owner used the car for hill climbs in England which is why some of the driver-focused modifications were added. The S3 chassis was developed from the original Lotus Seven so space is at a premium making the optional lowered drives-side flooring highly desired. I am 6’1” and have a comfortable seating position with the seat full aft. The right-hand drive cockpit features twin bucket seats trimmed in black leather with embossed seatbacks and four-point racing harnesses. Black carpeting is fitted on the sides of the center console, and color-matched Caterham Seven-branded mats are under foot. The K15 engine upgrades were done in 2010 by Dave at DVA Power, a highly regarded specialist in the Caterham world. It features a ported cylinder head with standard sized inlet and exhaust valves, the head is fitted with Supersport cams and new pistons. This gives large gains in torque and much better drivability. The only maintenance I had to perform is the annual service and a new mechanical oil gauge since ownership. I am in no rush to sell the car as I still enjoy it on the weekends but would like to move on as I have had a seven-style car for the past 4 years now, love to have one of you guys enjoy it! Asking $30,000 located in Pensacola, FL. If you have any questions or would like additional photos I have plenty, ask away!
  28. I've made some navigation changes to increase visibility of the Articles section, and I have also added a new section there under the Owners Resources folder called How-to Guides. There are a lot of great threads that discuss how to perform certain mechanical procedures, but they require a search to find. The purpose of the How-to Guides section is to give those posts a second home and improve discoverability. If you have a thread that walks people through a process that you think is appropriate for the new section, please send a PM to @JohnCh and @Croc. In some cases, a single post can be lifted as-is, other times it will require pulling together multiple posts and performing some editing to make them flow. If editing is required, well look to the author to perform that work and provide it to us in a Word doc. Please note, a How-to Guide does not need to start life as a forum thread. Net new content is also welcome. Thanks, John
