  1. My wife came into the garage one time when I was in my Dodge making engine sounds. Didn't phase her a bit, figured better engine sounds here than other noises somewhere else.
  2. I just got notice (and an invoice) from Caterham USA that the factory has advised my CSR is in the build/built stage and will go to the shipper soon. Assuming that I got the paint codes right, it will be very dark purple with a light gold nose and bonnet stripe. So, just a month to get here and a few weeks to build it and then its http://csr.informe.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://csr.informe.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://csr.informe.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif for me. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.
  3. If ordering new, you also need to consider the time between placing the order and delivery (6 months+). Then add in build time and you likely won't be on the road until winter. In the long run it may still be better because you have the options you want from the start and know the car you are getting.

  5. Less than 3000 miles? I hope there was a lot of track use on them or a typo.
  6. What kind of time frame did they give you?
  7. My daughter was afraid to drive my Corvette (thankfully) and preferred walking to school rather than being too flashy. The Caterham won't be an issue (again, thankfully) since she is off to college and can't drive a manual tranny.
  8. With the Iditarod starting this weekend, you should be able to sub runners for wheels, hook up a team of huskies, and blend right in on the trail. Just stand up in the trunk and leave the hood off to add to the illusion. No need to worry about Hummers (though the Unimog is pretty cool).
  9. With no power tools.
  10. So when do you tell them "for a real thrill, drive a 7"?
  11. Geez kitkat. Way to kill a thread by using facts and logic. People don't want to hear that kind of talk.
  12. So you had 13 employees when W left office and because of Obama you are now down to 5? Sorry, but from that little info it sounds like the pres has done a better job managing a whole country than you have with your company. I hope the 8 former employees have been able to find new jobs since employment is up several points. At least you can jump in your 7 and take a drive to forget all.
  13. Anyone care to guess which was the quickest? Tough call, but I'll go with the Chevelle for the acceleration or the Caravan for the braking.
  14. Do we know the general area we will be ending up at each night so I can try and make hotel reservations?
  15. Just sent an e-mail to Chris that my wife and I will try to come up from Seattle. Sounds like a great way to spend a few days.
  16. I did 16 laps at the Richard Petty Experience there a couple of years ago. Lots of fun, though if you go, these places often have specials to make it less unaffordable.
  17. Has anyone bought the Caterham jacket that is always available on e-bay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Caterham-quality-jacket-/260931464526?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D1%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6119439521057322590? It looks good and the seller has decent feedback, but I just wanted to make sure before buying.
  18. I was at the new place in November and Jon was just getting it sorted out. Not huge, but very nice location.
  19. Jon at Caterham USA in Denver is a great guy and very helpful. He generally doesn't have completed cars at the shop, so make sure that he has plenty of advance notice about your trip so he can plan to have a car to show you. I recently went through the same process as you, though mine will be more road than track oriented. I finally settled on the CSR Roadsport. It will be nearly as capable at track days and then be much more usable on the road than an R500. Hopefully the best of all worlds. The only downside I have found so far is the wait between placing the order and actually driving the car.
  20. Aside from any federal regulations, each state has their own requirements. Best to start off by checking with the licensing agency where you live. They can probably give you some idea of what to expect and what you'll need. And try to get it in writing.
  21. How come Colorado has 7 weather in the middle of January while Seattle has had five days of non-stop snow, freezing rain, ice, etc? And now there is more on the way. Something very bassackwards going on. Aside from that, very happy for you. When I had heart surgery a few years ago, my main discussions with the doctor were when I could get in and drive my Corvette again. We compromised at 3 weeks. Great therapy.
  22. Just read the plan for a new model in 2014. What amazing new feature could be next, a locking trunk? http://star-motoring.com/Features/Focus/2012/Caterham-rising.aspx
  23. Santa was a couple of days early: My 6spd trans arrived on the 23rd. The Cosworth 260 will come in early January. Now all I need is for Caterham to build and send the car to put them in.
  24. Definetly at RTC, planning on the Calgary to BC run as much as a I can plan a year+ out. Monterey is possible, though likely just the last part of it once you get into WA.
  25. My CSR is getting closer to reality. Today I wired payment to Cosworth for the 260hp engine. Did the same to Caterham for the 6spd trans. Looks like Caterham is scheduled to make the CSR in late February or early March. Should arrive here about a month later and then a few weeks or so to assemble it. With any luck, I'll be driving it by the end of April. Not that I'm counting the minutes or anything like that. Yet.
