Hi Tom, It has been a while since I was on the site and was surprised to read this post and that you now have a new ride and toy. Sometimes I miss m 7 clone and even think about building another one from time to time. Good to see your enjoying life and having fun. :driving:

A layered lenticular cloud on a cloud is very unusual as a lenticular cloud is usually formed by an air mass moving over a mountain ridge or mountain top and being compressed by another air mass or layer above it to my limited knowledge. One thing I know is you do not want to fly in either a cumulonimbus cloud or a lenticular cloud mainly due to the turbulence that they both have. The lenticular cloud looks peaceful but can have very high upward and down force air flow patterns on the sides of the cloud while the cumulonimbus cloud is full of disturbances due to the uprising air mass. Great photo I must say.

Hi Tom, Not yet. I just finished this 71 Triumph GT6 MK III and have enough spare parts that I have been considering building another 7 from those parts as I have everything extra in the way of drive train and suspension from the rebuild of the GT6. Wounder if the straight six would fit if I stretched the frame....:jester:... Here is a before and after photo. First photo was the day I acquired the GT6 and the second photo was taken on July 20, 2014 at the Central Coast British Car Show. I had put the last part of the interior in the night before the show. PS. My car took second place and I did not even clean the wheels as I just was supporting the local British car club and did not even vote for my car.

Hi coffee break, Just read your post and I would suggest that you connect a direct pressure gauge to the motor and see what the oil pressure reads before you spend the time to drop the pan and pull the end caps of the rods and main bearing caps. If you do go that far you might as well just replace the bearings if there is no evidence of scoring. Just my belief and hope this helps. :driving:

Wow Very impressive.

New owner was very happy to get the car this evening and even drove it around his driveway before putting it away for the night. Looks like it will be shipped to his other home in AZ on Saturday. I told him to sign up on the forum and he just smiled and said he might. Garage is now empty for the first time in a long time but that is good as the remodel is about to start on the garage for what ever new toy I decide to place there. Funny my wife actually came out and asked me if she could go for one last ride in the seven as I was getting ready to load it onto the trailer to take to the new owner this evening. She look sad and happy at the same time and said she would miss it. -

Beautiful slant nose you have there. If you do decide to crank up the boost make sure you put race fuel in it and turn on the video recorder so we can all see and enjoy the ride. -
That for sure and I can see it now you will be asking Marg if you can have the keys to the Elise when you want to just go for a drive...:jester:.... :driving:

Hi Tom and lancylad, No I am not that hard just time to move on and let someone else have a good time as my car was just sitting around way to much. It will be very interesting to see what the new owner dose with the car to make it his own. I know the new owner well and he is a confirmed car nut and good guy. Not sure if he will join the forum as he is fairly quiet even on another site we both belong too but you never know. I will definitely tell him about the site and the good group of owners I have meet from this site and the information on all 7's that is available through the forum. Yes I will stay a member of the forum as I feel I have a number of friends on the site even if we have not actually met in person as I have with some of the other members and besides I know I will always have a special liking of any type 7 that is out there and who knows maybe another 7 will end up in my garage sometime in the future. :driving: -

Well I have just sold my Lotus 7 Clone to another car nut / person. All I can say at this point is we have come to an applicable settlement just have to finish the deal which will be the transfer from me to the new owner. I guess I will get it out of the garage tomorrow and go for one last drive while it is still my car. Yes it is going to a good home and I am OK with it as it is time to move on. SOLD :driving: -

John K is correct and I agree it is fun to work on any hand crafted car and not have to take it to a repair facility to keep it running like the new cars of today require. Nice job of fibbing the stiffening brackets for you 7. PS: SolidWorks Professional about 7K SolidWorks Simulation about 3K College education to put the above into practice priceless -
Now that is a steel in my belief. You should not have any issues selling your 7 I would think. Sent a link to another person who is looking for a 7 just so you know. :driving:

And people wonder why wire wheels cost between $266 and $377 US dollars each. Nice job. Once you have the tires mounted then recheck the spokes and trueness as they tend to settle as the stresses are equalized. :driving:

Try coating the top of the plugs with DC111 grease. Here is a link to it. http://pilotshq.com/product_info.php?products_id=5988&m1track=googlebase&gclid=CLfqycmQwLoCFStxQgodHVMAWg&osCsid=4e0115f80812fbddcd420a623737efa0 We use this for a very similar issue at work and have not had an issue with rust since using this as a barrier. One suggestion that I will say use a small amount and spread it thin as it goes a long way. Plane de-natured alcohol will clean it off anything you put it on. Hope this helps. :driving:

The kit costs about $24,242 (£14,995), and the fully built car can be purchased for about $29,092 (£17,995). The Seven 160 is powered by a turbocharger, three-cylinder Suzuki engine producing 80 horsepower and 79 pound-feet of torque. This gives the 1080-pound car a claimed 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 100 miles per hour. Power is put to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The other interesting thing about the Seven 160 is its live rear axle, which harkens back to earlier Sevens. This should add a little bit of, erm, excitement to the driving experience. Evo has driven the car, and finds it to be very engaging, with the short gearing requiring a lot of shifting and minimal turbo lag. Grip limits are appropriate for the amount of power. The action of the live rear axle takes some getting used to, but the driving experience is very rewarding once the driver gets a feel for the car. The Caterham Seven 160 comes standard with 14-inch steel wheels, adjustable cloth seats, inertial reel seatbelts, aeroscreen, immobilizer, and aluminum finish. Options include a Momo Q/R steering wheel, full windshield and weather equipment, lowered floors, carpeted interior, leather seats, tonneau cover, heater, spare wheel and carrier, 12-volt socket, and, of course, a proper paint job. We’re a bit forlorn about missing out on this new entry Caterham here in the States. We imagine pushing it to its limits would be unendingly entertaining. Scroll down for more information in the press release, below. BACK TO THE FUTURE: CATERHAM LAUNCHES SEVEN 160 Priced from £14,995 or 17,995 fully built Suzuki-powered 660cc Seven with new live-axle will be ultimate in ‘accessible fun’ UK variant named Seven 160; EU gets 165 Caterham Cars has opened the order book for the Seven 160 – its new entry-level variant of the iconic sportscar, powered by a super-compact, turbocharged Suzuki engine. Priced from £14,995 in component form, the car’s live-axle rear suspension, compact engine and low weight embody the pioneering spirit of early Sevens and represent a new entry-point to the Seven range. The Seven 160 – EU customers will get an altered version, called 165 – produces 80hp from its 660cc, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine, enabling it to accelerate to 60mph in a brisk 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 100mph. With fleet-of-foot charm and handling finesse, rather than outright performance dictating the driving experience, the new car redefines the budget sportscar segment while introducing new levels of efficiency and value for money to the Caterham range. Caterham Cars CEO, Graham Macdonald, said: “As the Caterham Group as a whole grows and expands into new sectors and industries, our commitment to keep evolving the Seven is very much alive. “The 160 offers something truly different to the entry-level market. It’s more economical, more accessible and every bit as fun on the road as other Sevens but has its own unique personality.” The new rear axle, a throwback to early Sevens in terms of simplicity and purity of design, complements the Suzuki Motor Corporation engine and lower overall body weight, while delivering Caterham’s acclaimed, intuitive handling experience and a balanced yet playful chassis. To meet the desired performance criteria, the Caterham Group’s engineering consultancy, Caterham Technology & Innovation (CTI), fine-tuned engine performance from its standard output of 64hp to 80hp, while boosting fuel economy and reducing vehicle emissions. The vehicle conforms to EU5, EU6 and JC08 emissions regulations. Macdonald continued: “The engineering challenges we faced when developing the new vehicle were significant. The engine, suspension and the overall dynamics all needed to work in harmony and the various arms of the Group have been successful in pooling facilities and expertise to achieve that.” The number five at the end of the EU spec car’s moniker signifies that the vehicle complies with the EU5 emissions standards, allowing it to be sold across mainland Europe and beyond. Production of the Caterham Seven 160 and 165 is expected to begin in January 2014, with first deliveries later that Spring. Hi Jim, Question. What will keep the flat plate from rotating to the horizontal when installed. If you send me the dimensions of the tubes and the plates I will model them for you and run them through SimulationXpress in SolidWorks for you so you can see where the stress's will be on the part. (see attached photo [displacment under load of 1000lbf at the mengenta arrows material AISI 4340 Steel, normalized 0.125" THK]) If you want to lighten the part assy you could always drill out some of the material in the flat plate. :driving: -
Easiest way is to just light the rear wheels up in a straight line and see if one spins or if two spin..............just kidding as I have no real idea as to what differentials are put into the Caterhams and Birklins and Westfields or any 7 with a DeDion rear suspension or even independent rear suspension as I think there are several different for each make differential and model 7. I think you would have to know what make the rear differential is in the vehicle in order to determine if it is a limited slip without lighting up the rear wheels under power. :driving:

I would have to agree......... :driving:
