When I was traveling in England in the mid 70's I visited the MG Factory in Abington, England. Outside of Abington their was a small village that we walked through and after touring the village we where directed to a scale model of the village that was built at the begining of World War II as the village figured that if they were bombed they would have a exact replica of their village to rebuild their village. The whole model was built so one could walk down the streets which where about two feet wide and the building roofs were at about bet height, wish I had more information about that village as it had a small auto musiuem in it and I can not for the life of me remember it's name. The model airport reminded me of that village and their scale model of the village. Sure wish I could remember the name of that village as I would like to see it again if and when I get back to England.

Hi Gert, You can always rent a Next Engine Scanner and scan your seven or even better is to build your own scanner. Here is a link that tells you how on the cheap. http://revision3.com/systm/laserscan So three hours of carving at say $25 per hour and say three hours of digitizing the photo to be accepted into the program at $25 per hour, would you do another for $150 if someone wanted one of their 7.....just thinking.

hope other states follow this example

I would vote for this if it were put to a national vote as we all pay to support those that deserve the assistance and for those that are just down and out not due to their own neglect but then I am told that I am a hard a?s and a red neck to boot. -
Hi breezy7, Take and start your car and let it idle, then take a can of either and spray lightly around the intake flange. If you have a intake leak your engine RPM will increase with the either and you should be able to narrow down the location of the leak if it is an intake leak or leaking vacuum house. Some people use WD40 for the same thing but I find that a little either goes a long way and does not leave everything coated with oil. Might also want to check valve timing to make sure the valves are opening and closing at the correct time especially intakes as your timing could be to advanced or to retarded but then the car would not idle very well but worth the check. Hope this helps.

I kept thinking I bet they make sure the AC unit dose not turn on and create a draft or some one dose not open a back stage door and have a gust of wind blow through.

So Mazda what is up with Frankin7?
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Mazda, Sounds like you have a plan and that is good even if life seems to always get in the way like family and work. -

Well glad to hear your going to keep in in the family and eventually fix it. So a mid bike engined A mod car....it will not be street legal or will it when your finished buildingit. You know Mazda if your out this way you can always take my car for a drive as that is the least I can do for you. -
Guess what happens when the car ahead blows an engine!

Yep off roading in a 7 is not the cleanest thing to do especially sideways. -
Hay Mazda, Have you decided what you're going to do with Frankin7? Just wondering.

That was quite a ride....good thing there was no drainage ditch or other objects or soft soil.....so how far did you slide once you departed the paved surface. -
I do not think I would want to be under that as all it would take to crush what is under the front end of the truck would be a hydraulic failure or a pump failure. Different but not that safe I do belive.

Hi KiwiBirkin (Stephen), Good to hear that things are starting to progress even if they are slow. We do not hear about the after shocks that are occurring in NZ as the news here is just crap and sensationalized to make ratings. Not real news as far as I believe. A 5.4 EQ is nothing to joke about and would cause a lot of damage here in my location in Southern California as their are still a lot of old buildings around. Well take care and be safe when out driving around with the top down in either the Miata or the 7. :driving:

Hi KiwiBirkin, Have not heard from you or any of the other 7 owners in NZ lately and was wondering how things are shaping up for all of you and Christchurch as there is no news about the aftermath and what is happening in New Zealand here in the USA from what I can find. Hope things are looking up.

Hi twobone, The first photo is very cool.....literally.... -
Very nice looking Caterham you spotted. I like the black headlights as it offsets the color and looks good. So what are you doing in Albania....visiting or working or vacationing? Have fun either way.

Hi James, Just my opinion but I would change the oil after the first 100 miles (10w-50) or (10W-30 depending on the climate and driving conditions of the car) and then at 250 and at 500 with a new filter each time and a bottle of ZDP each time (that is the additive that is now missing from almost all oil sold in the USA) and after 1000 mile I would put the synthetic oil in that you intend on running and then change it at 3500 miles and then ever 6000 miles or at least twice a year or more often as oil is cheap compared to a rebuild as you know. The main thing is to let the rings seat in as quick as possible and then use the oil that you want to run. If you use to slick an oil at the start you run the chance of not having the rings seat in correctly and that causes an engine to use more oil due to blow-by. Another thing is to let the engine come up to operating temp so the oil has enough heat in it to flash off any moisture that finds its way into the engine as all engines once warm will pull what little moisture out of the air and into the metal just because that is the way metals work without a long explanation of the chemistry of it all. As for throttle and RPM I also would not over rev it or lug it for the first 500 miles and then after that I would drive it like you want and just keep an eye on the oil level. Remember this is just my opinion and there are a lot of different views on this subject so take it for what it is and have fun driving your 7 in the sun or whatever weather you decide to go out in.

Have to agree with Croc.

Yep my thoughts also and all white work outfits...not what I would be wearing but I am not the cleanest person when I work either but in that place I think I might even be able to keep clean to a point.

twobone, I would replace the mount and then repair the broken one and keep it as a spare. You might also want to try and figure out why the mount broke where it did and then fix it by adding a gusset as suggested by Dave W. You also might want to look into replacing the rubber mounts while you have the time as I have found on other cars that I have if the rubber mounts are letting the parts move to much due to being worn out or softened from heat and oil and other things then some parts like the motor mounts then get over stressed and break from fatigue. Just a suggestion.

Interesting that Volkswagen has gone this direction in manufacturing their top of the line car. http://www.youtube.com/embed/nd5WGLWNllA?rel=0
