  1. Mazda and Skip, Their were a couple of MGB GT with the Rover V8 but as Skip stated they were far and few in the USA let alone in Europe. The MG C GT was a little more common but not all that much. Her is a link to a couple of photos of an MG C GTS works car that I know. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/EasterWeekendRoadTour/photo#5182655108739438370 Enjoy.
  2. Well for all who care I finally decided to keep my car equipped with a BMC engine so I found an MGB GT that was in need of a new home and purchased it for the engine and trans. The Engine an 1800cc had a new head installed recently and a compression test showed that it is good and it runs and starts with ease and has good oil pressure without any knocks or noises and no overheating after running for a while in 109 degree temperature. The car was a project that lost its appeal of the previous owner and it was time for a new home for it so I acquired it at a far price and the previous owner is happy that it will be used appropriately. I will be parting it out after I get the engine out and then cleaned up and into the 7 so if anyone has a need for some good used parts for an MGB GT let me know.
  3. Your correct in not having my 7 running has been a drag in more than one aspect. But enough for now ans I don't want to Hi-jack your thread so I will update the one I started on overheating problems later this evening.
  4. Mazda, You know that thing that you are susposed to look through:d :jester: and keeps bugs from getting stuck in your teeth when your smiling as you drive Franklin 7. PS: New my engine is now in the shop and will be going in to the 7 in the next couple days so I will be back on the road again.
  5. Weigh the windshield you might be suprised as glass is heavy.

    Good one.......
  7. The gov would due better to conserve fuel if they were to make it advantageous for cities to build high-speed mass transit systems that actually ran to places that people could walk to and from instead of having to drive to the places that they tend to go such as work and home. Just my belief but look at the cities that have these systems already in place from the turn of the century, they are the hubs of commerce for the world in most cases. By the way if gas for my cars was $10 per gallon I would still buy it and use it due to the fact that I belive if I one can not aford the toys one has or wants then they just have to due with out those toys in life and besides life is to short and you can not take your money with you when you are gone and if anyone knows how to take it with you please let me know as I am not leaving mine to anyone especially the government.

    A Big WTF

Have to agree some one was not using their gray matter except as an ear spacer when they put the concrete wals at the end of the strips.
  10. Hay Mazda, Black shows every speck of dust and dirt plus any imperfections in the body work...(ripples, dents, waves, etc.) also low visibility at times like at night for those stealth drives without lights.. :jester: you know when the local PD is looking for that little car that just went by at close to the speed of sound and then disappeared around a corrner.
  11. Very COOL for someone to due that. Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July.
  12. Very nice model that you have their.
  13. The last four photos in this album show of how I mounted my seats. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/ALotus7ReplicaLocost The drivers seat is mounted on slides from Speedway Motors and the passanger seat is fixed mounted. Hope this helps.
  14. How about "USA7'sutol".
  15. Wife 1.0 since 1973 till present and we still like each other.....welll she tolerates me and lets me play with my cars and toys.
  16. Well I would have to agree. What most people do not realize is the North Pole Ice cap is usually only 3 to 10 feet thick at any given time during a normal year and can be as thin as a couple of inches due to ice shifts caused by wave actions under the ice.
  17. I agree as we who have the 7 bug have Ins7nity.
  18. I would get smacked if I muttered that and she heard it.......mabe I should
  19. Towbone, Just a couple of suggestions from one who scratch built his 7 replica. 1. Pick a car or make that you like or just have to have to start with. 2. Read and research as much about that car as you can and ask questions. (Look at build sites and photos, etc..) 3. Talk to owners, get a ride from those who have the car that you want to get first hand information from them. (Try them all if you can as it will help you make up your mind.) 4. DON'T BE AFRAID TO TAKE THE PLUNGE AND BUILD A 7 TYPE CAR as it is one great experience and you will learn more that anyone can explain and it is not all that hard as it can be done at home in your garage or where ever. 5. Once you start allocate a little time everyday to the project even if you just go stare at it and think about how it will go together and then due it and before you know it you will be driving your own 7 on the road. 6. Take all the suggestions that are given and use them as a guide but build the car the way you want as long as it is safe. 7. Don't try to reinvent the wheel or redesign something that has already been proven to work unless you just have to do that as that is the biggest killer of building your own car in a respectable time frame and budget. 8. HAVE FUN WITH THE PROJECT.
  20. Hi Skip, That is a good idea thatI had not considered before now so Thanks for the good info. :7frog:
  21. A friend of mine just called me and said I can have the Jag V12 he has sitting at his shop if I want it....I don't think it will fit with out major mods though. :7frog:
  22. Orange put the fear of the car gods into that Ferrari as it wet it self as evidence is on the road.....LOL. :jester:  Have to agree that the first photo is a good one.
  23. Well at the moment I am waying my options for an engine. If I put another B engine in means very little reworking of the car and a shorter turn-a-round and I actually know of a good motor in the local area, GM V6 (more horsepower) means modifications to the drive line and bodywork with lots of them avaiable at a reasonable price, Zetec means total reworking the engine bay and trans / driveline to get it into the car plus the expence of a new bell houseing / trans / driveline etc., Mazda Miata engine and trans...fairly cheap compared to a Zetec setup and very sound with lots of proformance parts on the market and a good source of power, still have to modify the car some what to make it work plus locating an engine / trans that is from a low milage car in the local area might be a challenge, Toyota engine and trans means new driveline and mounts, etc. but lots of them around and lots of people that know about them. I will most likely go with another B engine which will keep my car the same and I know the motors and it will fit without any modifications all though a good rebuild cost as much as a good pallet donner motor and trans from Flying Miata with shipping...I just don't know at this time as I am still thinking about it and how I am goingto convince the wife to let me spend more money on one of my toys.....maybe a trip to the Islands or a cruse is in order for the feature who knows at this point. :7frog:
  24. Well I removed the cylinder head tonight and found some other problems besides the cracks in the head their are cracks in the # 2 and # 3 cylinder walls about a third of the way down the stroke of the pistons. I am really bummed now. Here is the updated link with photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/OverheatingProblem Looking for a new engine now I guess.
