WTB - Wheels that are NOT Prisoner OR Wagon
ashyers replied to gde31ff's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
I had 16” and swapped to 14” and used Toyo R888R 185/60R14 tires. Their dia. Was nearly the same as the 205/45R16 tires and they work much better on the roads I drive. The compliance aids in ride, reduces skipping over studder bumps and has a gradual break away. Plus they’re lighter. Andy -
The 7-11 Slurpee Run was GREAT. Slonie was the mastermind behind the planning and things went without a hitch. Herding Cats is never easy... Andy

I've found that a military Patrol Cap works well at speed. The bill is small enough that it doesn't generate lift and the top is double layered to help protect my hairless head . https://www.ebay.com/itm/235046265593 Works great! Just need to ensure that you get one that fits your head since they are not elastic. Andy

I sent you a message.

Angleton close enough? If so I can see if a race shop I’ve worked at on and off for many years is interested.

If someone in the Bay Area (Oakland, CA) wants to compare one of these gizmos to an alignment rack I’d be willing to do it. I’m curious to know if it’s accurate. Andy

JimSVO, If you need any SVO/2.3T related items I have a few. I've had a SVO since '89 and have built a couple of 2.3L turbo motors over the years. They're fun motors and fun cars. Andy ps. Check out the later 2.5L engines for a distributorless option. I think they ran a pick up off the jackshaft.

The solvents used to clean mass flow sensors work pretty well and don't harm plastics. I'm curious to know why the roller barrels need cleaning. Is there build up on them? Andy

Looks like you're having some fun! I'm in the East Bay if you need any assistance. You guys are going to have a blast driving it when you're done!! Andy

Back when I worked in Formula Atlantic one of our drivers complained that the car would generate certain frequencies that would 'set him free'. Fortunately it was an issue with backfires like Croc mentioned and not something more serious. This post reminded me of that issue. The same driver once came over the radio complaining his rump was burning. Upon further examination (of the car!) we found we were a bit too aggressive with the ride height and the new venue a bit bumpier than expected. Opps! Andy

Croc, Did you have to bump up the wire gauge with the Hella horns or was the factory wiring adequate? Thanks, Andy

I believe they were for the PCV system on the '73 Midget I had.

Duratec fuel pump standard Ford or special Caterham item?
ashyers replied to KnifeySpoony's topic in General Tech
Croc called it. Change everything that remotely looks like a hose or gasket unless it's Teflon. The gaskets/hoses in the pump assembly will self destruct if removed from the tank and then reused. I'm not sure of what causes the reaction, but when I was warned of this years ago we did an experiment. We pulled all the rubber components from a fuel pump system and placed them on my desk over a weekend. Upon return they had all aged approximately 1000 years. Looked like massive ozone cracking/dry rot. Not a piece was remotely usable. They do just fine until removed from their environment. Andy -
