  1. Looking for a bellhousing. Commonly used on early Pintos. Anybody got one they want to get rid of? Russ
  2. Something else to consider is where and when will LOG be that year. Nobody knows yet. Skip is right there are lots of cool roads near him. Russ
  3. As was suggested for the last one Northern Arkansas has very wonderful roads to drive on, and not crowded, but no race tracks. But I wouldn't be doing the race track anyway. We have had several Midwest Se7ens Gatherings down there. Also Elkhart Lake, WI. Nice race track but only soso roads. Russ
  4. Mine came from Houston. Does that count?
  5. Two weeks from now we will be driving the twisty roads at the Gathering. I hope everyone has signed up with Brent. Russ
  6. There was an Alfa powered locost for sale on Locost USA forum but I don't know if it is still available. Your best bet is to get an already assembled and licensed car Taking over an unfinished kit has its problems also. There are several guys in your area that have se7ens. Esko Ala-Nisula lives up in Fitchburg and is a great guy. He might be able to answer some of your questions about building and licensing. He does not get on the forums very much anymore. Pm me for his email. Say hi to my duughter who lives in Boston and my son who goes to WPI!!!! Russ
  7. I've driven a RHD locost for the last 9 years and I love it. My only complaint is it is hard to pass a car or truck on a two lane road. By the time you get the car out enough to see if another car is coming toward you it is too late. But it never really bothered me because my old motor only had less than 58HP. I did not pass a lot of cars. Now it might be a problem because I am putting a 104HP motor in and I think I'll be passing a lot of cars. Russ
  8. Beast is in and I do the under side plumbing and bolting today. If all goes well I should be able to start her today!!!!!
  9. About 5 weeks to go folks. Is everyone in???? If not contact Brent soon. Got the motor in my Locost today and will try to start it tomorrow. Got to get it tested so I can be ready. Russ
  10. I found a Pinto flywheel that will work and it does not have to be balanced on MY crank. So as soon as I can get it balanced I will reassemble everything for the fifteeneleventh time and see if I can get my beast running. The Midwest Se7ens Gathering is coming up in 5 weeks and I have to be tested and running by then. What a nightmare this simple motor/tranny swap has been. Russ
  11. Ok, I talked to a race car builder, Bob Henson, and the news is not good. The 1300cc xflow used the BMC style starter that had an extended pinion shaft and PULLED the pinion gear into the flywheel. The teeth were on the clutch side of the flywheel. There is no way to use that type starter on my car as the bolt pattern is opposite and there is no room in the bellhousing for that long a shaft. This is the type of flywheel that the formula Ford guys use that is why the engine builder wanted my old flywheel (I wish he would have realized that it would not work on a street car). The fix???? Buy a $500 starter from Pegasus and use my flywheel (assuming it has the right teeth). Take the motor and tranny out. Use another 1600cc flywheel with the teeth on the motor side of the flywheel. Bad news there is the motor will have to be torn apart and have the crank and flywheel rebalanced. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I am in the process of getting sh!t faced right now and don’t even want to see my car for a while. Russ
  12. Ok, here is my problem. The next to last item on my motor replacement list is the starter. Forgive me if I don’t use the right terms. The starter motor is the proper starter for a Ford Pinto (all ready confirmed as long as they put the right part number on the right starter). The bellhousing is suppose to be from a Pinto. The flywheel is off my old 1300cc xflow motor ( flywheel worked on the Formula Ford dyno when they tested the motor). The starter motor from my old 1300cc xflow will not fit as it used a completely different way of mounting. The starter pinion gear is not engaging the flywheel. The flywheel tooth to bellhousing measures 1.25”. From the flange of the starter to the engaged teeth of the starter pinion gear is about 1.2” and about .625 when it is not in the engaged position. So clearly the starter pinion is not going out enough so the nose of the starter in not long enough. Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone have a xflow starter lying around that could take some measurements for me? This is keeping me from starting my new motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Gale I did not think anyone could catch up to you long enough to ask you questions!!!!!!
  14. JB Weld???? Just kidding. Bummer, I know how you feel. Was it a xflow?
  15. PM me your email and I will send you some pic's tomorrow
  16. Did you ever find your front sump? I have a Pinto front sump I could sell cheap. Russ
  17. Investment tips for 2015 With all the turmoil in the market today and the collapse of Lehman Bros. and Acquisition of Merrill Lynch by Bank of America this might be some good advice. For all of you with any money left, be aware of the next expected mergers so that you can get in on the ground floor and make some BIG bucks. Watch for these consolidations later on this year: 1.) Hale Business Systems, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Fuller Brush, and W.R. Grace Co. will merge and become: Hale, Mary, Fuller, Grace. 2.) Polygram Records, Warner Bros., and Zesta Crackers join forces and become: Poly, Warner Cracker. 3.) 3M will merge with Goodyear and become: MMMGood. 4.) Zippo Manufacturing, Audi Motors, Dofasco, and Dakota Mining will merge and become: ZipAudiDoDa. 5.) FedEx is expected to join its competitor, UPS, and become: FedUP. 6.) Fairchild Electronics and Honeywell Computers will become: Fairwell Honeychild. 7.) Grey Poupon and Docker Pants are expected to become: PouponPants. 8.) Knotts Berry Farm and the National Organization of Women will become: Knott NOW. And finally... 9.) Victoria's Secret and Smith & Wesson will merge under the new name: TittyTittyBangBang.
