So this is something that I can't quite figure out. Over the years I've ordered a number of misc things from overseas for the 7 for obvious reasons. I've gotten Royal mail handed to USPS, DHL and FedEx as typical deliveries. For DHL sometimes they've held my items saying I'm supposed to cover the duty fees to get my item. Sometimes not. Recently the FedEx order got delivered to my house and then later they send me a bill for duties. Is this typical? Is this not included/covered by the seller when they quote the shipping price?

I've vaguely looked into this loophole and I know a couple of people that utilize it. I don't know how they do it, whether through that service or not. I've used a similar service to get my trailer registered in NH. As far as I'm concerned the crux of these loopholes that exist is the insurance if it ever comes to that. My understanding is all 3 have to be in the same state for everybody to be happy. Your residency, your registration and your insurance. For many reasons not all 3 always match, in particular with how often people move and the time it takes to change things so there is leeway legally where time pockets get created and the three are out of sync, but insurance understands these situations. However if your state insurance finds out that you've had a car registered across the country for years for no good reason (other than trying to go through loopholes) they can deny your claim if it ever comes to it. So far this is not a risk I'm willing to take on with this loophole. I might be wrong on a few things and local experts can correct me on some matters. I'm legally registered in my state but I'm currently battling with inspections (I simply can't pass OBD2 inspection) and having to get new plates every few years because I can't renew old ones without inspection.

Ok rant time I ordered 3 things from Westermann for a considerable cost (just needed the fender stays but then project creep started and while I was making order for one thing... why not get the rest of the things I wanted?) 1) Aluminum stays for CSR wings that fit an S3 offset specifically (only company that offers this as far as I know) 2) Wishbone aero upper and lower 3) Carbon fiber mirrors. It appears I'm 0/3 1) Aluminum stays arent fitting. At the very least the driver side just doesn't fit today. It's too tall to fit between the balljoint upper shelf and the bolt hole in the bottom. Obviously this can be modified but that's not the point for a pretty pricy piece of metal 2) Wishbone aero isn't the same as advertised on the website or what they used to have. They are smaller and more angled instead of being bigger and covering more area. Also a defect on one. On the site How Tom has his (I'm assuming he cut out the hole for the sway bar end?) Mine It seems to "stop short" going into depth. I expected the corner angle to be more of a right angle when viewed from above like in the original pictures. Unless I'm an idiot and it supposed to go this way? (reversing the sides) but this seems backwards. This does resemble the way Tom has it the most ^ @yellowss7 ? 3) Mirrors have defects as described above. Still have to test the passenger stay but so far I'm not optimistic and don't really want to get into it just to have to put everything back together.

I didn't have to crimp anything. I got a cable cutter tool to make a clean cut at the right length. I have ITB's so the "bob" at one end had to be a match to go into the housing. It was a tiny little bit too big but slight grinding modification made it fit right in. I got generic cable stops for the other end. OEM single would always slip, so I went with the old Soviet approach of overbuilding and added 3 cable stops back to back to back to make sure it doesn't slip again. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NOE7311143 I can get pictures when I get home but I'm sure my setup is a little bit different then yours

Will do. Scheduled a consult next week for a second opinion with a friend of mine who manufactures carbon fiber to see if these are reasonable defects or not. Didn't expect to get feedback here, but you certainly make good points. It didnt seem right and below the bar they set with other products but also didn't want to overreact and be "that guy" Inspected the winglets today too. All look good except for minor blemish in the clear

The top coat on the mirrors is questionable. Not sure if they source them 3rd party or make them themselves. Only price of carbon I have from that that doesn't seem perfect. Also I'm surprised to see the glass to be a magnification glass instead of the regular wide angle. Hard to tell if its wide angle and magnified in right now or just magnified. I was perfectly happy with the glass in the ones I'm replacing and was hoping for these to be the same.

Got a few goodies from Westermann For anybody wondering whether the aluminum stays are worth their premium here are the results. 2.15 lbs per OEM CSR stay (4.3 total) Vs 0.7 lbs per aluminum stay (1.4) total. 2.8 pound savings. Pretty considerable overall. Westermann 0.7 lbs OEM 2.15 lbs

Is that a 620r nose cone going on a CSR? Does the CSR "chin" work with it?

Used it a few times. So far a lot better than a hand version that caused me to damage my body work due to the abrupt jump it does once it releases.
