  5. gotta love the classics
  6. I need a helmet too... looking to get one with Hans posts installed
  7. Yeah, I think while trying to save it and pick it up from a lowside, the front tire got traction and sent him across the track. I saw a pic from the front when both Edwards & Rossi hit him... think he died straight away. Looked terrible.
  8. Good earplugs are a lot quieter & cheaper;) Just kidding, I wish I could get it to only engine exhaust, wind & tire noise...
  9. I almost put a radar jammer on my motorcycle... while it is illegal, I felt the fine for it would probably be similar to the triple digit speed I'd likely get caught for. But I wouldn't loose my license if he couldn't prove how fast I was going. That was my theory anyway.
  10. I've always felt the same about the boxer as the miata... seems it's the choice of female porsche drivers. Don't get me wrong, as a miata driver I would't mind moving up to a boxer. I'd then be in touch with my high-class feminine side;) ,
  11. I've been into MotoGP for about a decade... one of the new charasmatic Italian riders, Marco Simoncelli, was killed on the track today. It was in the Malaysian Grand Prix. Ironically, it was likely good friend, and possibly best rider ever, Valentino Rossi who had the misfortune of not having anywhere else to go and running over his head, ripping off his helmet etc... American Colin Edwards also hit Marco in the 3 bike wreck. I feel sorry for what they must be feeling as well. Sad day....
  12. oh yeah, forgot about that... and that's the main reason I chose AEM
  13. I'll give you a lot of props if you go thru deleting wires in an existing harness. But aftermarket ECUs, like Hondata & AEM, are plug & play. I even got an extension harness, prebuilt to whatever length I wanted, so I could put the ECU in the trunk (if you can call it that). Just decide where you want the ECU (passenger footwell, rear compartment etc), measure the distance from the current ECU plug, order the extension, and install. Then go to reputable dyno shop. Done. Sad thing is the money you spent at Honda could of paid for almost half of it... hate to rub it in;)
  14. You might try the WCM forum http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ultralite_USA/ It's been quiet for a while but guys do check it.
  15. Man, that Honda dealership ripped you off. You can buy a little scanner/reader like the one I got http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16361 . As long as you have the OBII plug on your harness, it'll say that your smog pump isn't working (because you don't have one) etc.. but it'll tell you useful things like misfires, VTEC issues etc.. You'll have to do a google search to find the code definitions but no biggie. Plus you can erase the codes to try again. And it's good for your other cars when they say (check engine) and it ends up only being a problem with your fuel cap. I think it's a fuel problem too... I had a problem similar to yours, it was that my fuel line was coming loose inside the tank, near the top, as the fuel pump swang back and forth under Gs. I have foam in my tank too but that didn't stop it from swinging around. Don't know how your fuel cell is set up but if it's a honda fuel pump just sitting at the bottom of the cell with a fuel hose hooking up near the top, I'd check that it's tight at both ends. If partially off, it won't supply enough for full throttle... and it's about ready to come off all the way and leave you stranded out in the boonies. Wait that was just me, twice;) Thought I did damage to the motor the way it sounded too. I ended up putting the fuel pump outside the tank after trying to reach into the tank to fix the loose hose and pushing/grounding the wire for the fuel pump... can you say BOOM and FLASHFIRE! There's pros & cons to having the fuel pump outside I know but I feel better now.
  16. Yeah, the top reminds me of some of the dune buggies in the 60s.
  17. Mine came with the windshield, as I ordered the weather kit. I've never installed the kit (needs finishing touches by upholsterer). I like it. It's a little taller than stock (below). The wind deflectors (Westfield, with Cobra mounts) puts the turbulence right behind my head instead of in my left ear;) Still need a tight cap to keep from flipping off in a forward direction. If you saw how it was made, you wouldn't hesitate to try and make one... basically some C-channel, with plexiglass. Don't know how hard it is to make the template across the bonnet. I do need to change to some harder plastic, more like the kind that the wind deflectors are made out of (I have a lot of scratches in mine). Hopefully, the biggest benefit will be making a half-hood for shade. Or I could do something like this with my weather kit
  18. I feel the need for speed! http://www.whenitsgoneitsgone.net/
  19. hmmm, Not ominous... but mine
  20. Another beautiful day in California;) Recent rains left the mountain roads with a lot of gravel/dirt in places.
  21. I wonder if you could put a side exhaust, with a small resonator, then small muffler. Then route the tip thru the fender to the rear (some cars have this) and than put a rear muffler like this... Seems that would be the most you could do. The sound out the back would be less annoying than the side (especially if it's on your side).

    Cat Bites

Like all the idea processes going on. You'd have to make sure it fit snugly into some rails on the bottom and there wouldn't be a lot of support when raised up... don't know how high you'd have to go
  23. I tried some on stuff that is similar to dynomat (worked great in my 67 truck). I thought it might be vibrating aluminum sides (footwell area) but didn't notice much. Thinking of getting some of this to put near latches or other pieces that are close to each other. http://zeronoise.com/automotive_noise_control/automotive_gasketing_foam.htm
  24. We're kind of getting off topic but if all you want to do is smooth out the vtec than get one of these: http://apexi-usa.com/shop/index.php/afc-neo-fuel-management.html (This worked great for smoothing my vtec, but I had other issues...) A little better (if you eventually modify) http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/greddy-emanage-ultimate-unit-p-10466.html Or, all the bells & whistles; Hondata or AEM http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/engine_performance_products/S2000/engine_tuning.asp You'd end up with a better result than switching stock engines... you do have to find a dyno tuner though
