Yeah, I have your cage in my files. I like it a lot and was thinking of just changing that bar along the sides to go out more for side impact, and remove the outside upper bars for easier access (maybe have it so they can be taken off/on). Still have to figure out if it's possible with the way my hood opens.

Bought my daughter a 2005 base mini about a month ago, and though not a ball of fire, I can't help but like driving it. I've always feared that if I had to drive on the other side of the road, I'd forget at some point and end up in a crash.... though I guess with the steering wheel on the other side it might keep me (driver in the center of the road).

I'm looking at different styles to get more protection. I haven't seen any cages with over head protection on an ultralite. I think it's due to the raising of the hood (no cowl). These are the two I'm interested in... or a combination of them as I want side protection. I like the first one for egress but the bars directly over the seats might be better protection.

The sad thing is that even if it's mediocre, it'll be better than most car shows. One of the things I like most about the original is they aren't afraid to offend manufacturers (I think it's national TV and not sponsored). Let's see how these guys do it and get advertising dollars at the same time..

Those FF vs cops videos wouldn't be so funny if there wasn't some truth there (at least from my experience)... and I do have a lot of Olympic medals in Motocross & bicycle racing;) But I must admit a lot of cops have very attractive wives/girlfriends.

I have pretty much 50/50 weight distribution with me in the car... sounds like I should put a little more on the front (the front never loses traction). But it seems more weight on the front would increase oversteer (contrary to the article). Like most things, I guess it's not that simple.

The Miata comes with A/C... I can't imagine people spending that kind of money for a car without a stereo & heating/cooling. It's expected nowadays. We're the lunatic fringe, remember?
