  1. luv those stories
  2. As mentioned, this site is more general than some other 7 sites. WCM has a site for S2K owners that is almost all technical help.... the California Caterham site has a lot of help, both technical and actual people (in So. Cal anyway). I wouldn't doubt that Birkin & Westfield also have places to help owners of those brands. At first I was surprised there wasn't a technical section that was broken down by brand of cars but soon figured out that most cars aren't that different and there was other places for particulars. I think this site is best for the social networking of all 7 owners... blats, events, trackdays, and some technical stuff when requested.
  3. Looks fun... but a bit of an exageration as a stock 2000 R1 motor is more like 135-145HP at the crank.
  4. Cool, look forward to having someone relatively close that I can get some comparisons with in the future.

    FDA help

Seem to be pretty harmless. You'd think they'd be called "nose candles".... I signed the petition to help you out Bro. Good luck.
  6. I've got a few people here who could do it no problem.... except I'm too vane to mess up the powdercoating/paint. Plus right now, if I felt too invincible in the car I'd probably do something stupid (I'm trying not to get too serious). Got any shots of where the bars connect to the front? I'd really like a cage like Caterhams have but we have issues with opening our bonnets.
  7. Very nice... my license plate says the same thing but I think you might have me beat;)
  8. Love when a guy does something like this for the shear enjoyment of the whole experience. http://jalopnik.com/5497042/how-a-500-craigslist-car-beat-400k-rally-racers?skyline=true&s=i
  9. You'd have to live in a pretty congested area to make it worthwhile.... but it is neat how you can carry it with you.
  10. Makes me regret even more taking the weatherkit over side bars when I got my S2K
  11. I like when someone has original thoughts and design http://www.yikebike.com/site/home
  12. Welcome Sandy, So how much safer do you feel in the original mini;)
  13. Nice.. I think my lights are that size. Where'd you get them?
  14. Congrats, Well now you can put whatever lights, turbo, supercharger... basically anything you want on the car. You won't be seeing anymore "inspectors"!
  15. Busa, Do you have young kids? Thank the unions they can go to school instead of work. Weekends off? Overtime pay? Do you think most large employees would provide medical/retirement benefits if not for Labor's influence? Do you really want comparable wages to 3rd world countries? How will your children pay for healthcare then? The amount Republicans say Obamacare will cost is still less then the trajectory of premium increases we've been seeing from the insurance companies. If you really want to live in a Libertarian country move to Somalia... no taxes, no roads, no schools, just pay for your own protection and services, don't count on anyone else sharing costs ... you can really enjoy your freedom there. Dude, there's middle ground on all these issues (services, cost & debt). We just need to ignore the rhetoric from the extreme right and left. We need to be looking at reasonable solutions instead of constantly finding fault (which is the easiest thing to do).
  16. Drives better with one hand then I do with two;)
  17. I think you'll find that local government provides a lot more services than they did back then. New technology has spawned I.T. departments and other services that weren't around back then. Some of it is unfunded or partially funded mandates sent down from the State or Feds. Some of it was voted in by local residents. Furthermore, there's more environmental regulations (at least in California). Over the years, pay and benefits of government employees has grown more (or more accurately, has not been cut as bad as private employees). In California, the State took control from local government of education, gas taxes etc.. when Prop 13 was passed in the 70s. This gave them more control over local government and gave them a pot of money to "borrow" from, resulting in local government being raided to bail out the State. My two cents
  18. Look forward to the Laguna results... post a pic when you get a chance
  19. NASA had the use of one at Edwards Air Force base when I was stationed there. My favorite too. OK Kevin.... how fast can it really go?

    confused car

    Hmmm
  21. Funny stuff... "shaving while ex-husband steered... getting ready for date with new boyfriend... suspended license for being busted for DUI the day before".
  22. Hijacking thread... we had some old 50s (or earlier) Seagrave "Squads" still in the Bakersfield Fire Department back in the 80s that would of been perfect for a Blastolene type ride (except for the brakes which only had about 3 hard stops in them). They were open top shorter fire engine size apparatus that just carried a fire pump and hose, no water tank but had the big in line diesel engine and manual trans.. who would of thunk

  24. Why a bike engined 7? I wish it could be done with my 7 !
  25. Nice to have another new member, welcome. No shame in purchasing a built car.... usually has the bugs worked out. And if you don't have space... or time... or patience... or skill.... you get why I bought it already built;) Dont' worry, there's always something to tinker on with these cars.
