  1. I put one in when building the car... a little added piece of mind. First the header, now the oil pan baffle; nice to see your efforts to improve the breed. I copied the design of your diff support bracket a while back; there might be some out there that would like that. I had a skid plate built for the oil pan and bet there's some interest in that too (if your looking for ideas). Keep up the good work!
  2. I have limited mechanical skills but working with filler and sanding too little/too much, without waves, etc... is beyond me. Don't have the patience. The actual painting is the easiest part (that's when you see all the mistakes you made in prep). .
  3. Hard to believe those little winglets would make a difference you could feel.
  4. I understand using the same format as the real Top Gear, but in doing so it seems to be a pale comparison. Can't blame them for trying but it's kind of like seeing "any movie 4"... hard to find that original spark. It would be better just to pay the real crew to come over and shoot half a dozen shows to add to their annual series and sale it all here. There take on America would be comical as well.
  5. I think there are a lot of hungry shops out there. The big ones that do a lot of insurance work probably won't deal as much as some of the smaller shops. I got my 67 PU painted for $3000 and that included removing/putting back the bed, hood, windows, inside cab, shaving turn signals etc... it came out real nice (pic in my album).
  6. I thought it was a lot better than the first one as well... though I wonder how Aston Martin felt about their cars playing on the lake bed. That fine dust gets everywhere. That was some pretty deep snow that the Evo was plowing thru.
  7. Looks a lot like Kevin's "Mojito" (WCM S2K with wings)
  8. I have to agree about the Aston Martin. A personal favorite as well.... just seems to be one of the most classy cars to me. And something you could drive anywhere (on pavement).
  9. Just woke up from my football/2nd round of turkey nap.... hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving
  10. I wish we would get off the political correctness stance of screening/checking every person. I understand preferring passive techniques for everyone vs subjective methods. But Grandma, a toddler, a family going on vacation? Really? Israel's method is to verbally talk to every passenger and follows up on suspicious mannerisms/answers. I imagine the objectiveness & training are too much to scale up for every passenger but it seems people trained in this could excuse a lot of passengers while they wait in line for their tickets.
  11. Went to the site, the rear doesn't look any better. Though I have to admit, all-wheel drive does seem interesting. Plus you can get quite a bit of HP out of these things too. Think it was built by an engineer more than a designer, just needs a cosmetic upgrade.
  12. Looks like radiation is probably the least concern. Everyone agrees you'll get much more from the flight than the scanner. "... "We feel the amount of radiation is so negligible, that it has no impact whatsoever on health," said Luis Casanova of the Transportation Security Administration. The TSA says going through the full-body scanners amounts to the same radiation as one one thousandth of a chest x-ray. A private physicist found it up to ten times that amount. Or one one-hundredth of a chest x-ray. Others say the real effects just aren't known because they haven't been adequately studied. So what's the truth? Michael D. Story, Ph.D. is an associate professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in the Division of Molecular Radiation Biology, he does research on radiation for NASA. His overall assessment of the scanners? "The risk in this case for cancer is extremely low. An individual should not be worried about that at all," Story said. Story said the dosage from the body scanners is at least 200 times less than that a passenger receives during a typical airline flight. In other words, he says, if you're not worried about the radiation you get flying, you shouldn't be worried about the radiation from the scanner..."
  13. Wearing a Kilt... that's funny! I don't like it, but if you had a choice of getting on a plane with the current checks or one without it, which one would you take? I didn't think about a broken scanner, but what reason would you prefer the pat-down over the scanner?
  14. Love what they can do. I need speed to keep me upright.... can barely stand on one leg;)
  15. Birkin & Westfield look very similar to a Caterham... hard to tell a Cat from a Birkin even when they're sitting side by side. Caterham has the pedigree and you pay for it... but it also holds it's resale best (after the "new" to "used" initial hit). The S2K & Stalker are a bit larger and taller, making it not so long looking (love or hate thing). S2K probably has the widest driver seat out there. As far as high revving... the honda S2000 motor goes up to 8500rpm. Makes 240hp stock and easily another 100 with supercharger or turbo. The new Ford 4 cylinders are up there now too.
  16. I think they all look fantastic.... just wonder if a few will look a little dated in 5-10 years. The 4 door is cool, wonder who can fit in the back seat;)
  17. variety is the spice of life.. http://www.texasmotorworks7.com/Home.aspx http://www.wcmultralite.com/ http://www.bruntonauto.com/ and many more...
  18. He's already got the SB100 cert so no more inspections required... though a windshield does come in handy.
  19. Rebuilt my Europa in the early 80s with some of the first custom hot rod wiring harnesses from "Painless"... new switches and everything possible. Thought it was a good investment... only had a couple ground issues after that (fiberglass car and all).
  20. Wow, I'm sure suspension can be really complicated, but Jack, that's one of the most simple, logical and easy to understand suggestions I've seen. Good job!

Now I know why the boogey man checks under his bed for Chuck Norris
  22. Sounds like the trackday helped you out in a lot of ways. Heck, I wouldn't be able to get over shifting with my left hand, let alone apexes & braking points...
  23. I guess a cop shooting out his door window is kind of like one of us spitting on our window when it's rolled up;)
