Bruce, 11 7/16 in the front of the rear tires about axle height & 11 5/8 at the rear of the tire. I run 225's on the rear with either 30 or 38mm off set wheels. I also run 8mm spacers on all 4 wheels. Gary

If weather holds and we do a little pre planning I could likely add a second A/C for a few breif formation passes. If you want, call & we can set it up. I would only need to be away for a few min that way. -

I could join up for a few seconds overhead depending on time & weather. -
Mazda, We all chase different things, I lived that era. Every time I purchased a car from that era, I found out my memory was flawed. It was not as good as I remembered it. I sure embrace the newer suspension, brakes, engine & controls. We no longer need to use the engine to save the brakes. This new stuff starts and just runs great all the time. I don’t even worry about the ignition getting wet, repacking U joints, replacing all types of bearings, generators & regulators, vacuum wipers, no party phone lines. Almost all of my friends collect and drive all type of old school cars. I also had a collection of classics over the years; they looked great, but didn’t drive great. What do you expect from a person who was smart enough to sell his 427 AC Cobra, with 5,800 miles to purchase a new 1971 Pantera? I also never liked anything about the 1957 Chevrolet. It must be something about my shallow values, and below average investment ideas. It is a good thing we don’t all lust after the same. Al will enjoy his dream, and purchase.

Al, I know, you also want one Graham Hill dorve as well. Enjoy your vacation! Gary

Al, Your priorities are out of order, buy now & pick up after vacation. I love the color. Mazda could loan you a few hundred extra HP. Gary

I love the R888 in the dry and they are fine for wet. Any standing water and it is like ice. If you can't see the texture of the road, hold on. Gary

Hi Gert, The one I purchased came from a member and he didn't use it, prior to selling his car. He treated me very well on price. It was from CFM # M6600ZX# and was with the Billet gear. Their contact info is: www.c-f-m.com 407-339-9211 I wanted the Billet gear pump as I had read of failures at 7,500 RPM + with the others. Folis gave me a heads up on rear main seals leaking, not the seal, but the seal housing gasket. He told me he changed a few seals till he did the gasket correct. I would go over to the Birkin site and pull up his posts or ask him for more info. Gary

Mazda, I agree with the land lock. We fight the same thing with airports. Most are started in open areas, then others build up around them. Like tracks, people then complain of the traffic, noise & danger. Land values restrict purchasing extra land for future expantion. Progress? Many tracks here in the midwest have been reduced to 1/8 mile tracks. Several were the same as in the day I ran when 1/4 mile tracks. I did one 1/8 mile run and found it to be a bore. Small airports and tracks don't generate enough $$ to make a move.

OMG, my wife would kill me! Loren, I'm sure glad I don't see a S.C. on it. You have done what I have done many times, invested too much time & $$$ and then recover a low % of the investment. I know this is a well sorted car, someone is getting a steal.

Why not a few catch nets like used for jets? Then add auto foam deployment into the area. I think reducing to 1000ft and reducing power is like restricting the space program to a max of 50,000ft. All of racing and things that push the edge has moved us to 2008, not 1508. We don't want to fall off the edge of the earth! To me this is like reducing A 7's power to 100 or 200 HP max. Mazda would need to run with 2 spark plugs. 25 MPH max highway speeds would reduce deaths. As in all, advancements have required new solutions to solve the new problems. I’m not ready to go back to being a hunter gather. I’m excited to see what developments the future will bring us. I don't know the track and area, but likely too little area for a proper recovery area for a 300 MPH problem.

A farmer stopped by the local mechanic shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn't do it while he waited, so he said he didn't live far and would just walk home. On the way home he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feedstore and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem, how to carry his entire purchases home. While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, "Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane?" The farmer said, "Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house. I would walk you there, but I can't carry this lot." The old lady suggested, "Why don't you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand; put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?" "Why thank you very much," he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home. On the way he says "Let's take my short cut and go down this alley. We'll be there in no time." The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, "I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won't hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?" The farmer said, "Holy smokes lady! I'm carrying a bucket, and a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose! How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?" The old lady replied, "Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I'll hold the chickens."

On my Birkin, I mounted my ultrashield to the floor and the shoulder harness bolts. There is a flat .090 aluminum plate bolted to the upper back area with one small bolt. It is like a spreader that bolts under the shoulder harness bolts. In the front I used another .090 plate I bent to fit the stock seat track mount holes. It lowered my seat as well as leaned it back some. I also cut the rear corners from the seat to let the seat fit further back. The rear stock seat track mount points was in the the way. I just set the crotch belt at one length for me. I made the car fit me only.

Great design ideas and build. Too many great ideas not to share, thanks. The areo-shield looks great, purchased or built? GAry

For several years I ran all over the country buying exotic & special interest cars, as well as aircraft. Never W/O a hand gun. As most of the time I did this with cash I felt it was the best thing to do. When I was working these were very fast trips, as I needed to return to work. People would cut a better deal with cash over a check. Any check can have payment stopped! A few times it was required to ensure my return, most were on the east coast. Each time I was prepared to use it, but with someone looking down the barrel, they changed their action plan. None were a one on one. I was glad for the outcome. All of those trips had more pressure due to carrying cash as well as the hand gun, there were many places I would not go, to avoid a problem. I don’t think a big stick would have had the same effect, as they had guns. About 5 years ago I was into NW Montana, to purchase an aircraft; I had a large bore short hand gun, as well as a year before that when I purchased an aircraft in Seattle. It sure was nice to have it as part of survival gear for the flight home over the outback. I do believe we should be able to make our personal choice on this. I like slingsht never carried a bible but spent a year, 1967 / 1968 in a war W/O killing anyone, and was very glad I didn’t. I was shot at many times, but I was doing other things at the time.

I do think everyplace where guns have been banned the violent crime has went up. I’m not even one of those unemployed people in PA. that clings to their guns and Bibles. I’m just a poor unemployed Ohio plastics worker.

Mazda, that is neat. I never saw it before. I'm would worry some would ask me to prove it. Only my wife and her 3 sisters know for sure.

In Ohio a local group of OSP (state Cops) sat a trap for a local lawyer that beat several tickets for clients. They announced their attentions and the route he was taking on their radios. They pulled him over and gave him a ticket. He pulled the radio tapes and went after them in court. Now there are a few of them pursuing other carriers. First good lawyer I knew. I think he purchased a new Corvette with he got from them, he also runs in SCCA.

I see you found a fix for low oil press. Great way to go. Now that you have the base, TBI's, Cams, Adjustable cam gears, head work, ECU, Exhaust, light Flyweel & clutch, Raceline watter rail, and softer rubber and you will be set. If you can hide about $10K from Mary you will be all set. I think I need to press off a dark Suit! Knowing Mary, she will likely buy you forced induction for X-Mas. She could also let you drive it a few times when it rains, she will have it the rest of the time.
