  18. While here, I spent a day at Nota sports cars. They manufacture several different kit cars - one of them is a Seven. It's a very small shop that's been around for a long time. I actually really liked their seven. It is very small, and has a very low profile. It needed a somewhat sizable hood scoop for a BMC motor that was in the car at the shop. They kind of do everything custom based on the buyer. The car that was there had a 3 link rear suspension and traditional front suspension. He said they also do independent rears, inboard fronts, etc... He said their current crop uses S2000 component exclusively, and they even have one variant (track use only) in which the car is widened, and the engine / tranny / rear are all bolted together (no driveshaft). There was no example of this car in the shop. I got a ride in one of their other cars, and am bringing back some of their materials with me.
  19. Nope... I put the car in gear unless there is NOBODY behind me, or a line of cars stopped. Otherwise I just take it out of gear and have one foot on the brake usually. If pulling away on a hill, I just start engaging the clutch and as soon as I feel/hear revs drop, I take foot off brake and apply gas.

    Ike

I've been out of the states for a couple of weeks, and seems like all hell is breaking loose there. First I got word that a close family friend has terminal cancer (he's strong as an ox, non smoker, 50s, blah blah). Then word of the stock market. I had no idea Ike was this bad. I will turn the TV on and see what's going on. Prayers going out to those affected.

  24. Make the links the size they need to be for optimal geometry. Any flex in the link will be negligible - if your link flexes any appriciable amount, it will fail from fatigue anyway. Remember your links are primarily in tention / compression (with exception of spring forces.
