In bloody bleedin' Caterham-speak, that's a bonnet, not a hood. The limeys still haven't upgraded to the latest revision English 2.0 as spoken in USA.

Until testing becomes widespread and commonplace, it's all just conjecture at some level. So best to pay closest attention to the experts in the field, and take comments from sports stars, politicians, celebrities, or some guy online with huge grains of salt. The thing that worries me is that, currently, the experts seem quite worried. But you do what you can to make it better and try to avoid actions to make it worse. Think of others is the most appropriate action right now.

Great video. It has the power of a full-sized box, but corners like an envelope!

Considering the fact that, until yesterday, I didn't know of a single real-world person (non-celebrity, sports star, politician, etc.) who had even been tested, the map showing the number of reported cases is grim. Actual number of cases will surely be greater, and it's already a lot, and increasing rapidly. At least they still make beer and bikinis.

We have one of those Japan-style ones, where the top of the toilet tank is a sink. After a flush, you just wash your hands using the same water refilling the tank. edit: Similar to this one

That explains the name "Darwin". Sounds like a truth-in-advertising sort of deal. The thing I don't understand about the panic-buying of toilet paper is, why are none of the stores out of hand soap? As soon as I finish with the TP, I go for the hand soap every time. It's a one-for-one.

They must've sent you an extra medium by mistake.

Good golly. Within a year or so, if not now, one could have a simple shape such as intake trumpets 3D-printed in any number of materials, with cost being the only limiting factor. And cost is dropping rapidly. I have recently seen 3D-printed parts in titanium, aluminum, and inconel that had a drop-dead gorgeous finish and were dimensionally accurate for all but the most demanding applications. Maybe you could just get some made? For trial sets, all you'd need is a fuel-resistant material. Or maybe this would end up being more costly - I don't know. Just throwing it out there...

Lightweight (lithium most likely) battery recs?
Sean replied to supersportsp's topic in General Tech
I like the Odyssey batteries as well as a good performance/reliability compromise, but prefer the PC625 model over the PC680. The upsides of the 625 are lighter weight and more power, with the only real downside being a more non-standard physical size. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why one would choose the PC680 over the PC625, but many do. Best of luck, sir! REF: https://www.odysseybattery.com/Applications/Powersports -
According to my meticulous calculations, there are very nearly 1,283 Caterhams in the USA. Plus or minus approximately 1,200 units.

In Southern California, Bisi at Bisimoto Engineering has hands-on experience tuning Duratec Caterhams with MBE ECUs as well as some other brands of ECUs the names of which I cannot recall, although Bisi had help from Magnus at the time, and Magnus has since moved away from So Cal. Steve at SBD or Simon at Meteor Motorsport are good reference sources of MBE info. At one time, SBD could supply harnesses for a variety of MBE applications, and probably still can.

John, I'm no expert, but Ken at Cosworth told me the CSR motors used a Ranger block with a Focus head, as there were differences in blocks and heads for those two applications. He said the truck block lacks the counterbalance stuff and the car head breathes better. There may be other differences he didn't mention. This may account for the difference you're seeing?

Crikey! That’s a comprehensive reply. Thank you, sir! Years ago, I was snorkeling while on vacation at Chichi-jima in Japan’s Ogasawara island chain, where the waters teem with sea life including multiple species of sharks, though there has never been a shark attack there. Sure enough, a shark much larger than me swam by maybe 8-10 feet away from me, and just kept going. When I told the local guy that took me there about it, he told me he took me to that spot because of the high probability of seeing a shark there, but I shouldn’t worry because no attacks here, etc. I pointed out that maybe the sharks in that area just don’t like Japanese food, and longed for a taste of meat basted in Guinness, like me? He admitted he hadn’t thought of that.

Hi Mike, As a generally well-traveled Aussie, I felt sure you must have been to Perth at least a few times! My business there is for a portion of one day, so I’ve booked there for a week in late summer. Staying near the coast, and planning a visit to “Rotto” and Bon Scott’s gravesite. Pointers, tips, warnings? Really looking forward to this trip. Way OT for this forum, but…this is where the big crocs hang!

Well, because Caterham acquired the rights to the design/name/etc. to the 7 around 1973, it could be said that any knock-off conceived after that would be a Caterham knock-off. But really, it all traces back to Mr. Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman's design, whatever name it's given. Damn good design, as I'm sure all on here will agree. -
Trump Rallies and the misunderstood First Amendment
Sean replied to Kitcat's topic in Politics, Religion and Controversy
It all seems pretty simple to me. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." Since ONLY Congress authors any bills that might become law, the wording is accurate. The only difficulty comes from people who misinterpret the term "free speech", and believe they can say whatever they like without consequences or repercussions. edit: 1st amendment as it pertains to free speech is fully enforced; Congress has made no laws abridging free speech. Roger Kraus CR500 and ZZR/ZZS price/spec sheet for 2019: https://rogerkrausracing.com/pdfpricing/Avon%20ACB9%20CR500%20ZZR%20ZZS%202019.pdf I have used Yokohama A048 (now discontinued) and Toyo 888 variants, and never been disappointed. I've been considering swapping DeDion ears and trying ACB10 bias ply tires, but I'm told the tramlining is significant. When the time next comes for me to get tires, I'll probably research the ZZR/ZZS line for about a week, strongly consider them at the higher price, or maybe the ACB10, only to then give in to the low price on the 888 again. I think 215 to 225 is about as wide as you'd want to go on the rear for R street tires. You'll want them to at least get warm.
-
You've interpreted the tire stamp correctly. Those tires were made in 2000 February (just over 19 years ago). Suggest budgeting for a new set, or increasing life insurance policy coverage. Cost should be similar either way, monetarily. Looks like a great time, Mike. And you're looking svelte! Long hours behind the wheel can do that. Cheers, sir!
